Topic: Always check the deposit address (Read 1035 times)

There's few things that are more gut wrenching then sending coins to an incorrect address. I've done it at least twice now, that I can think of, and it is brutal.  It's really easy to just think that you've correctly copied an address and to just quickly past or type it in, but it's worth every second of double checking and making sure you don't cost yourself.

It doesn't make sense to send signatures campaign directly to casino. I know we do it for the culture to reduce the transaction fees we spent on sending the asset from our personal wallet to casino but it's more safer when we do it on our own. What will you do when campaign funds were sent and the casino change the deposit address, you will either loss the funds or they may help you retrieve it but it will come with a cost for sure, technical teams don't help deposit of old address with them getting a cut from it.

In as much as some casino may even inform you that they have made changes in the deposit address like sending you email notifications, you might even forgot to check on your emails, I'm guilty of this because sometimes I can do days before I check my emails. Sometimes the only time I check my email are when I get notified from the forum about a particular thread of my favorite board. This behaviors can lead you to many things you don't expect.

If it is a fact, I consider that sometimes doing things in a hurry does not bring anything good, and the truth is I don't know, sometimes due to work issues or something like that, people rush to do something quickly that has to be done with extreme care, in In general, I always check carefully, but the truth is that there are times when I have to check 2 or 3 more times, because the network is the only thing that I sometimes overlook, that is, if I make a transfer through the normal bitcoin network, but in the exchange everything appears fine, but it is predetermined that it is on the ETH network, something like that, a long time ago an error like this happened, but fortunately when I clicked it I got an error that the withdrawal could not be made due to an error in the address, I don't know if something similar has happened to anyone.

Checking the address twice and also copying the address from the deposits page of the casino each time you want to make a deposit is the best way to go about this, this is not only advisable for casinos alone but also exchange too, since this third party platforms changes their deposit address frequently.


Also it is better to make use of sites that gives the users long address usage timing, this will enable them to make all the mistakes avoidable since the address remain same all the time but if that is not available, each time you want to make deposits then it better to take caution and apply all the rules including copying and using the right addresses.

It is very true, in the exchanges they always do that, even though the Decisions Remain in operation because they remain in the history of transactions , and that can be Recovered , so in view of this, things can happen in favor of the person or player , Therefore, it is strange that in the casino they do not have that option, they should have it because it is a Way they have to recover the money , so in every blackchain Platform they should have that type of backup, after seeing this thread every time I make a transaction I don't check it 1 or 2 but 3 times to verify Completely, sometimes one can get confused by the network too, that is something that has to be seen, it is an essential Security measure.

The only difference that of exchanges and casino is that, for exchanges you won`t be stressed to get your fund when you mistakenly use an old address all you have to do is to use "one-click" (judging from Binance experience).


It's the same for me, I have heard it but its the first time I have seen any bitcointalker make a thread about it - but still it wouldn't be that mush of an issue to me, because for each deposit that i make to my gambling account I make sure I copy that address directly from my account depoit page and also tripple check incase of any malware attack.

Always double check and this is something that wont really be taking up too much of your time because it would really be that a pain in the ass situation or something that do really sucks when you do able to make those kind of support ticket in regarding such issues on which you dont even know whether it would really be that retrievable or not. There's no way that you could really be able to know on what would happen,
its impossible that you wont really be able to tell the difference but if you are someone who do make out some transaction right away without seeing those small details then you would really be ending up likely such as this situation.

Usually changed address does really happen on an exchange platform and not for gambling sites. This is actually my first time that i have seen or known that gambling site
do make out some changed address as well. Its always better to have some double checks once in a while so that you would really be able to avoid such potential problem.
This is why it would really be better that you should really know on what you would really be gonna doing.

The truth is difficult when making transactions to a casino, being the address that can cause problems, I advise whenever you can make a transaction but to your own accounts, either in an exchange or in a private wallet( is the best) it is preferable to pay the fee but be safe with our money, this is so, in the case of the casino since they changed the address it is necessary to verify address before making a deposit, just as a precaution and to never trust that, although the case is not so difficult there are many things that can be done so that the old address can remain the same, what I think is that more can be done in this case by the casino, the casino should not put so many obstacles, they should have done the transaction immediately, but in itself the important thing is to verify any address before depositing.

I agree with this. The casino should be notifying first their participants of all the changes that are happening in their website or games. Whether it is user's data, technical, rules, or adjustment to the games. Otherwise this king of thing will happen again to other people, and sadly they blame themselves instead of confronting the casino or technical support for the loss. It is sad because if this kind of thing doesn't take account and seriously, this may be a new norm for them to take advantage players. And hopefully this is not the case for most people.

Also in user part, it is best too to always check the address twice before transaction. It may cost you some of your time but will save you money and stresses. It is also a good practice to be careful always in this digital transactions right?

You were not careless Mate and anyone who thinks you were is unfair to to you. This was the address you have been using for a long time and the casino didn't notify you of the change of address. The blame should go solely to the casino and your experience should serve as a lesson to everyone to always crosscheck out addresses before transferring funds to it. Alternatively, we should always copy the address directly from the casino instead of relying on the one we have in our wallets or we saved somewhere else.

Well it's odd hearing that you don't have a casino account because your activeness here on the gambling board tells that you are probably a crypto casino gambling, well I guess not everyone loves to play with their coins online 😁😁 . I guess you do more of local fiat gambling account but with even that I do make mistakes by deposit directly into someone else account with the mistake of only a digit  missed.

this must be the reason why other gambler double check the address before they deposit cause they will know the possible outcome once they are spontaneously deposit without checking and sometimes it will end up into losses. Not because we loss our bet but we loss our money because we are too careless.  And the worst thing is even though it's a big amount we can't get it back once the address is mistake . So in reality to avoid such things we need to double check first the address.

This is excellent advice. Because most crypto gamblers think that the device they use is very safe, so they are very confident when making transactions. Even though they don't know that the deposit address they copy from the casino platform could change when they paste it - therefore always make sure that the address is correct and pay attention to the beginning and end of the deposit address to see if it matches the intended address.

Yeah, you should always check your deposit address and make sure you are sending to an address that you own. But,
1. Why would you take a loan and send it to an address that doesn't belong to you? You should send it to an address in a wallet which you control and then send it to the casino to avoid such problems. Even if you send it to an old address, you will still have access to the funds since you have access to the keys. Moreover, before moving any huge amount  of funds, you should always send a smaller amount as as "test" to ensure that you are receiving it without any issue.

2. The casinos shouldn't have any problems recovering the funds. I don't know why they made you prove that the "old address was yours". All addresses assigned to you are associated with your account.

Sometimes many people are not aware and don't have time to read their email every day or maybe it's not important and often ignore it, sometimes I've also experienced a change in deposit address on one of the casino sites, but I never saved it, let alone I use my deposit address as the main address to receive money from anywhere, so every time I want to make a transaction I always check the wallet address again to see if it is correct or not, there are casinos that have notified us via email of changes to the wallet address, I was thinking what if people save it and it is used as their main address for receiving money so people continue to send it to the old deposit address. that's clearly a new problem.

I think actually there is a mistake on our part as users to ignore email notifications, even trading sites also send emails if there is a notification of a change in deposit address, we can't blame them completely either because we are the ones who never read the email and maybe subconsciously ignore it, but This is where a lot of problems arise between users and casinos, so now every casino will usually provide a notification when the user logs in to their account that the deposit address has changed, this can help users know that something has changed with their deposit address. But again, don't use trading and casino deposit addresses as wallet addresses to still receive money

In my opinion, the problem is in the casino system, which allowed itself to change deposit addresses without prior notice to users. This cannot be permissible in any way because the platform knows that users can use these addresses for different types of deposits. In the most extreme cases, the casino had to at least keep the old deposit addresses active for a certain period even after they were changed, while emphasizing the need to inform users in all cases. Since updating is important, notification must be done through personal emails and even publishing explanatory notifications. I believe this is at the core of casino integrity.

The same problem occurs with trading platforms that do not allow changing deposit addresses, but do not hesitate to change them on their own unilaterally. However, trading platforms do not completely delete old addresses and they remain valid for the user

Crypto transactions are mostly peer to peer so when things go wrong during a transaction, there are no banks or third party to come in and resolve the problem, so it's important to be super and extra careful when initiating a transaction. The responsibility of every transaction is completely on the user or the initiator of the transaction, which is even more reason to be vigilant about things like double checking of wallet addresses and transaction details.
