You are correct in thinking that small cap altcoins can bring in much more profit than well-known cryptocurrencies that have already had several pumps and dumps.
But you need to choose those projects that will be used in the future. In my investment portfolio, about 50% are coins such as bitcoin, ethereum, atom. They are less likely to scam.

You will probably do well with those investments but also look into newer projects like MAXX finance, SUI, and Lamina1. Some older projects are a good buy too. 0xMR for example recently had a high of around 3 usd and is sitting at .06. The fundamentals for that project didn't change. If you hold HEX, ETH or MATIC you can also claim some free MAXX tokens on their website.

Put most of your money in BTC for long term investment. More than half I would suggest. Yeah, ETH is a good choice as an altcoin investment. So you are safe if you are willing to hold long term and want to take less risks.

From the rest of the coins you have mentioned, I have heard of Avalanche and I think it is in one of the top 20 crypto currency list (based on marketcap). Don't know much about it but it has been trending for a while. The rest you mentioned, I haven't heard of any of them. So invest doing your own research. If those are some new altcoins with small marketcap and you believe they will skyrocket soon, invest a little, but don't go all-in. There are other better altcoins that are less risky to hold like ADA, SOL and DOT.

Research your chosen projects thoroughly. Review the team's past work experience. See if they fit into their roadmap. Look at their marketing activities. Look at the activity of their social media channels. Compare their market value with their competitors. Make a series of assessments and make your decision without being influenced by anyone.

Research is just the best thing to do to know about altcoins to invest on, make research about the value of the altcoinin the past and try to know the experience of traders who have invested on the altcoin. With all these research it will be easy to know on which altcoins to invest on because sometimes we make right decisions by knowing other people's experience who have been in the market for long time.
