Glad to see someone else notice...

WHY DO THEY HAVE SUCH TERRIBLE COOLING SOLUTION!!

I have to design my rigs in closed boxes with fans in back and front to make a all air beeing pulled out and away from the hardware.
This is really frustratingto me.
Ive seen a few models where they use the good old nvidia solution with 1 single exhaust in the butt...  i love that.

This blow-hot-air-randomly-all-around is really really really annoying.

Its a good cooling solution for 99% of use cases (1 gpu per pc).  I can see its good because with 1 gpu inside the case the temps are low and the noise is very low.   But like you said, for us miners, the  blower coolers are great and all my 290's have one.  Well, they are great unless they are in your living room. They sound like jet engines Cheesy

I'm doing the same as you are. 7 GPU's separated by cardboard to force air  on one direction.

The rx560...seriously? How many MH can it pull in ETH?

15.5mhs  with 1300/2100 clocks at 60w, basicly half a RX470

tweaked 570 = 27Mh/s @ 91w at the wall (64w on gpu-z).   Could be >29Mh/s >100w but my elpida does not clock enough.
Model and memory?

asus expedition.  Elpida (1850mhz max).

eth only=  1090/1850mhz @ 831mv   = 91w (wall)

Dual mining = 1130/1850mhz @ 831mv =  118w (wall)

I have Elpida Stritx OC 570. Will try your settings. I have 26.5 Mhz and hihger power consumption. Also it is the hottest GPU in my rig with %100 fans all the time.

I really need to tweak it. Which strap? Any special strap value? @831mV for GPU or MEM undervolt?

Thanks.

Like Mattthev said, depends on your chip quality and temperatures.  I've seen people here with less than 800mv on rx580!

Here's the bios I use (the strap I use is selected and  visible).

About the fans being 100% all the time, it was happening to me too on my temporary case.
These "open" GPU's are blowing hot air in every direction. Make sure your cards are not blowing hot air in the direction of the motherboard, because that hot air will bounce back and heat up the neighbor GPU's, which in turn will heat their neighbors even more.

I heard the Asus Dual cards have really bad cooling, but what about the Expedition? The cooler seems to be the same.

Currently I have a choice between one of these three cards:

Asus RX570 Expedition 4Gb
Asus RX 480 DUAL OC 4Gb
Msi RX 480 ARMOR OC 4Gb

Which one should I get? The purpose is not only mining but also some gaming on the side. Also, which of them do you think will have a greater resale value in 6mo/1yr, a 480 or a 570?

the cooling is not the best, but its ok if you give them space.   In this image the second gpu is catching heat from the first one.

I havent tested any of the others. But this Expedition has bad memory (1850mhz max). I would go with Rx480

Also when one finds a sweetspot for undervolt mV value, is applying this mV value to all GPU speedssets other than the first set (300 Mhz-750 mV) best practice?

The difference is so small (750 -> 831) that you gain nothing by making voltage steps.  Also, this is mining, so you will be always in the last state.

some algos switch between less intensive iterations though so I belive the last and second last states should be modified just to be on the safe side.

any model in particular of this 570 GPU?

Hi, can I mix RX580 and RX480 on one rig?
Sure you can, RX 470/480/570/580 no problem, if you are running windows you can also use Nvidia and AMD.
Right now I have R9 380, RX 470 and RX 480.

You should. I already have 5 RX 570 and 1 RX 470 on the same rig.

Thank you for the settings. I will post my results as well.

I have one gpu on the mobo and 5 on the risers. My rig case is 7 gpu capable on the shelf.

I will distribute gpus as much as I can to improve air flow.

As another measure I will put Asus into a position where it breathes the freshest air from the front.

Right now it is it in between other gpus.

But as far as I see MSI has better temps and cooling overall.

You never know what voltages your card can do... Also memory can't be undervolt only memory controller. Performance timings is the key.
My Strix RX 470 has 29Mh/s, could be 30 with better quality Elpida memory.
I pretty love Strix cooling. It's very quiet and I don't have any trouble with temperetures. Asus Dual has very bad cooling.

When you know stable clocks you can set them in bios as default.
It is pretty fucking hard to find the best stable low wattage settings to hard code into the bios when you can't use something like Trixx or Afterburner to try different things  Roll Eyes
I didn't mean set static voltages of course Shocked  After you test what clocks are stable you can set it in bios with dynamically voltages for clocks and flash it. Not saying it's best option but then you don't need to bother with profiles in Afterburner.

will be possible to see a modded bios for RX570 to get <100 and higher rates of mhs?

Also, every time I've tried to use Afterburner with a 7-GPU rig, the whole thing crashed after it applied OC's to the 7th card. There must be some limitation there.
