Which is better for cpu mining xmrig or xmr stack? I have been trying my hand at cpu mining with xmr stack, but I don't see to hash increase with my 1500x + nvidia gpu setup on nicehash. Nicehash will show me getting around 385-400 h/s on a 1500x oc'ed to 3.9ghz with big fan upgrade, but my revenue only goes up about .25 cents, which seems a bit low(been reading I should be closer to $1). It's also not consistent, as every minute or so it will drop down to 0h/s for a few seconds. Plus, about every 10 minutes I get the error message, "socket error - receive error socket closed." Tried a few things, but no dice. I have page filing set to 10gb and mining cryptonight. Would xmrig show me any improvements? Is there a way to get xmr to mine monero with the cpu? Thank you.

Your hashrate seems to be  on the average side of the 1500x.

About your socket error its probably concerning your network , if you have a wifi dongle or whatever.
Myself i have these usb wifi adapters TP-link TL-WN725N and they dont work on windows 10 at all, just socket error all the time.

tried all drivers from tp link etc, but its just crap, only drivers that work are the cd drivers that come with for windows 7.

Hello, I'm new to mining as a hobby and this forum so let me know if I'm butting in here and should make my own post, I'm still learning the ropes. I have a related question about my Ryzen 1600. I started using it to CPU mine Monero last night with MoneroSpelunker and SupportXMRPool. I was under the impression from the benchmarks that I read that I will be earning daily around 90 cents in USA $ but I just realized that the withdrawal threshold for most pools is at least .1 XMR, so it will be months before I see any available profit. What do you guys do in order to make your mining profits available instantly? Thank you!

Yeah it will take forever for you to get any payout with just a 1600, check out mining Electroneum @ nanopool.org . better profit and also you can get payout much sooner, they have a nice help page for you aswell.

Thank you, I will look into this. Sounds like a much better alternative, although I really liked the idea of Monero.

Which Ryzen is best when speaking about cost effectivity? Been playing with the idea of buying Ryzen just to mine since I don't play many games anyway.

I believe ryzen 5 1600 is at a Nice price point at the moment.

6 cores and a good stock cooler.
Should get you around 470-550H/s

New ryzen lineup will release in april so maybe  you will  want to wait.
ryzen 5 1600 is 550 stock, 630-650 oce'd
ryzen 7 shoud be 730h/s moderate oc
I just reached 620H/s with Ryzen 7 at 3.7GHz and RAM at 3200.

Did you reached 700+ or are you just speculating, due the lower thread/core count between ryzen 5 1600 and ryzen 7?

I don't run AMD anything, but here are some real numbers for Intel CPU's from like right now:

Argon - 2x E5-2660 v4 ES (14 cores)
Brama - 1x E5-2683 v3 ES (14 cores)
Cerebus - 1x E5-2683 v3 (14 cores)
miner05 - E5-2630L v3 (8 cores)
miner06 - 6850K (6 cores)

The first 3 are media servers / Burst miners that I have on Cryptonight since it doesn't impact their "day jobs".  The other 2 are GPU miners that happen to have decent CPU's in them.

So a little over $5.50/day for something just sitting around anyway isn't bad.  I paid about $325 for each of the 14 core processors from eBay (Japan) over the last 12 months or so.  They have pretty much all ROI'ed at this point.

Thankfully I found this thread as I didn't know increasing page files would improve hashing. As for software, what is the most optimal mining for cpu mine? I am right now using nicehash, and I think it's estimating a bit low. I have a ryzen 1500x cpu not oc'ed on a MSI X370 gaming pro carbon mobo(if that makes a difference). Or should I just stick with NH? If so what are some optimal setting for the app?

I ahve Ryzen x1800 and i get around 550 h with no OC.
What xmr miner do you use to get above this hashrate?

Im using  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/xmr-stak-miner-220-with-colorscheme-inline-shares-total-hasrate-0-dev-fee-2783886
Xmr stark 2.2.0

Also Windows 10 large pages enabled.
8gb 2133 ddr4 ram
I can give you my xmr stak settings if you want As well.

Doesn't really matter. CPU mining will never be as profitable. Whatever hashrate new Ryzen processors are getting they will never hit ROI so there is no point in buying them with mining in mind, and if you want to mine from time to time there is no profit (just a few bucks)

are you serious? do some research, it is true that cpu has lower roi but they will hit it... When zec was out the first 2 weeks were great for cpu miners + ryzen should have greater performance and consumption, I need some cpu to my rig, why not buy on which can earn me money?
If you are right why are everyone using GPU over CPU now ? Difficulty is constantly increasing and with low CPU hashrate you will eventually be in a loss. Ryzen cannot earn you money. For that 350$ (1700) you can get almost RX 470 and for a few more bucks you can get another one. CPU mining is just a nonsense. I asked you something last time. Chose cpu and algo and please let us all know what is ROI time and then compare invested money with some GPU in same price range and then tell me CPU mining is any profitable.

GPU/CPU depends on the algo selected for the coin. Some GPUs cannot mine certain algos (Nvidia cards cannot mine Xevan algo) so for a person with an Nvidia coin who wants to mine xevan, a bank of CPUs may be better for them, even though they wont be getting a lot of coins.

RX470 prices are up to $900 on some sites. on new egg its $470, good luck finding them in stock. And say you buy one for $350 like you say, where can you get a second for "a few more bucks"? that's a hell of a deal

what the hell are you talking about, nvidia mines xevan just fine. Ive been mining xlr with my 2 1070s and 1 1080ti at over 12mh/s

back on topic my ryzen 1700 seems to be be getting low hashrate compared to some people here. I have it oced at 3.5 and using xmrig im getting around 550h/s. cpu load sits just above 50% though as its only using 8 threads.

AMD Ryzen 2400G and Ryzen 3 2200G

So we know that the Ryzen 2400G /CPU only  hashes Cryptonight  at around 150H/s , because 4mb l3 cache = 2 threads and 75 hashes per core.

It should go for both 2200G and 2400G.

Intresting part is the iGpu , will be intresting to see what the vegas can do in cryptonight and other algos.

If you get one keep us updated!

According to tests published, I expect GPU part hashrate to be between 200-250 h/s cryptonight. No joy.

hey guys I recently built a new rig on Asus X370 pro with Ryzen 7 1800x CPU and Rx 560s dedicated to cryptonight after long hours of research I switched the OC settings and finally I got 751h/s on XMR from Ryzen 7 1800x I hope you enjoy the results.

I don't have AMD GPU, I need to mine with cpu. Is this possible there? I am pretty sure not with the miner, as it is called "amd GPU miner".
