I have a hashrate which changes a lot, but most of the time it seems to be like 0.5khs.
But this nets me only 0.25$ per day before electricty costs. Is this normal?

More information would be wanted. Like what pool you mine at, what coin etc etc

dwarfpool, monero

Way to little should be around a dollar.

Try out nanopool for 24 hours and report back.

    I have a Ryzen 5 1400.   I have it overclocked to 3500.
    I am using the CryptoNote.CPU Miner 3.9  with a setting of -t 4
I have the power option in performance mode

    I am only getting 130-160 h/s

What am I doing wrong?  (I Have the gpu miner working no problem with my rx580)

Try xmr stak instead. And threads:  0/2/4/6
Should get you to 220+ hashes atleast.

Ok using amr stak.  Shut off GPU and using CPU only.
I have this in the cpu.txt file (or did I need a line somewhere else?)
        { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 0 },
        { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 2 },
        { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 4 },
        { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 6 },

    When I hit "H" in the window i see ids 0,1,2,3 = total 183....
should i be seeing 0,2,4,6 instead?

    [/list]

No. Its the hashrate u see, have u enabled large pages  ?

    NM,

I stuck the commands in the config file.  Now I am getting 216 h/s

That doesn't seem even remotely profitable unless monero goes back over $400 USD

which software  do you use for cpu mining ?! and can i use cpu and gpu in same time !>?

I use Xmr-Stak on Ubuntu 16.04. It allows to mine with GPU and CPU same time. Also you can set the developer feed if you build it.
I get about 400-450 with my GTX 1060 for CryptoNight.

I get stable 470 h/s for CryptoNight with Ryzen 5 1600 .No oc. 3200 mhz.  My XMR-Stak settings are:

      Code:
      "cpu_threads_conf" :
      [
         { "low_power_mode" : true, "no_prefetch" : false, "affine_to_cpu" : 1 },
         { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : false, "affine_to_cpu" : 3 },

         { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : false, "affine_to_cpu" : 11 },

I think somewhere around 250 hashes, the processor is on par with amd ryzen 3 1200 it seems ?

There is no problem mining Xevan coins with Nvidia GPU (been doing that for quite some time)

Parachute for sale. Used once. Small red stain.

Doesn't really matter. CPU mining will never be as profitable. Whatever hashrate new Ryzen processors are getting they will never hit ROI so there is no point in buying them with mining in mind, and if you want to mine from time to time there is no profit (just a few bucks)

are you serious? do some research, it is true that cpu has lower roi but they will hit it... When zec was out the first 2 weeks were great for cpu miners + ryzen should have greater performance and consumption, I need some cpu to my rig, why not buy on which can earn me money?
If you are right why are everyone using GPU over CPU now ? Difficulty is constantly increasing and with low CPU hashrate you will eventually be in a loss. Ryzen cannot earn you money. For that 350$ (1700) you can get almost RX 470 and for a few more bucks you can get another one. CPU mining is just a nonsense. I asked you something last time. Chose cpu and algo and please let us all know what is ROI time and then compare invested money with some GPU in same price range and then tell me CPU mining is any profitable.

GPU/CPU depends on the algo selected for the coin. Some GPUs cannot mine certain algos (Nvidia cards cannot mine Xevan algo) so for a person with an Nvidia coin who wants to mine xevan, a bank of CPUs may be better for them, even though they wont be getting a lot of coins.

RX470 prices are up to $900 on some sites. on new egg its $470, good luck finding them in stock. And say you buy one for $350 like you say, where can you get a second for "a few more bucks"? that's a hell of a deal

OK this is my first post here at all.. so... Hi everyone. I am also less than week into my crypto journey, so I don't fully understand EVERYTHING, but I wanted to report my results.

      CPU: Ryxen 5 1600 O.C @ 3.9
      MOBO: Gigabyte AX370-Gaming-K7

      Using cores 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11

      XMR-Stak: ~850H/s

Been trying to GUP mine Ethereum at the same time using Claymore, but with XMR running, my Ethereum rate drops from 12.8H/s to maybe 2.5H/s, so I am looking into optimizing that, as I don't think that hash rate is worth the heat. I am currently not paying for electricity. If anyone has any insight on how to get that raised back up, please let me know. My mobo allows full control of all fans and monitoring of 7-9 different thermometers, so I can keep a good eye on potential problems.

Quoted from the Serve The Home forum:

"It's definitely not a perfect formula, but the cryptonight algorith requires 2MB of memory per thread to calculate hashes. Keeping it all in L3 cache or below definitely sped it up on the platforms I've tested.

      For example:

      Intel Xeon E3-1240 v1 went from 129 H/s to 231 H/s (going from 7 to 4 threads, respectively). L3 cache size is 8MB."

This is the most important thing with cpu mining cryptonight, with both my E5's combined I have 70 mb of L3 so 70/2 = 35 so I can run all 32 threads and get the best performance, with my older pair of E5 2670's with a total of 40mb of L3 for both it seemed to run best with ~18 threads and any more the hash rate would drop.

Also you compare my ES 2667 V3's to the retail ones in the above list my has rate is a about 50-60 H/s faster even tho mine only boost up to 3.0 Ghz and the retail version boost up to I think 3.6 Ghz. The thing to think about is that the retail 2667's have 20mb of L3 vs 35mb of L3 with my ES cpu's.

Totally agree. I've test on My E3-1230 with 8Mb cache L3. 4 cores give the best hashrate (~225H/S).
