when givecoin back on the stock exchange? people still have the coins and exchanges are excluded

Thanks for asking!  Yes we are working as fast and smart as we can to update the wallet and daemon software to support the new fixes to the emit function as well as adding in Proof of Stake support.

Having watched the Clean Water Coin team go through a couple of false-starts we are adamant about "doing this right and not over"

Getting it back on the exchange will require that everyone help test and confirm the new wallets and daemons work and when we have over 51% of the nodes using the updated software, then we will direct Bittrex to re-enable the coin for trading.

In the mean time, I would encourage everyone to find a charity that they care about and have them install the wallet and send them some coins.

You must create qt wallet for linux (32/64) since not all linux user able to compile the wallet from source.
Better if you can integrate it to their repository (e.q. PPA for Ubuntu) so they can simply install Givecoin wallet using 'apt-get install givecoin' Cheesy

Thanks for the feedback -- we are already looking into what it would take to get in in the Apple App Store.

No clue what it would take to get into the PPA for Ubuntu repository but we'll add it to the wish list.

I'll arrange to acquire some additional lab hardware so that we can build qt wallets for linux.

Thanks again for the suggestions!

Quick question:

What is the interest / need for Linux Qt based wallets?   We're curious whether or not we need to produce a 32-bit based wallet or not.

Thanks for your time and consideration!

The move to a Proof of Stake based system is in full swing!

We anticipate announcing the official blockchain height that we will begin permitting staking transactions to the chain and an a sunset block number for POW, currently anticipated to be around 250M coins -- the halfway point such that the back-have of the coins will come from STAKEHOLDERS and a PERCENTAGE based TXFEE system to reward miners.

In the meantime we ask that you begin introducing your favorite non-profit and pro-social / charity cause to Givecoin!

100 free coins are available to anyone who signs up with https://doabitofgood.com and opens a GIVE Bitaccount.

What an awesome tool -- thanks for sharing!!

You'll also note that the top holder has not spent any of the coins and that those coins were acquired on the open market at Bittrex.

http://explorer.givecoin.info/address/763mwuzDbRkPvKgUDYvs8um8jBHwgrGg7v

We're interested in STAKEHOLDER theory not shareholders -- and we have a very strong interest in making this coin successful.

To that end, we will be working to get clearance with FINCEN to host an exchange -- and in Minnesota we are in the early stages of getting licensed as a money transmitter so that we can place ATM's in the state.

The VERY best thing you can do, and something we're doing right now, is introducing our friends and family to GIVE by encouraging them to download the wallet and send them 100-1000 coins just so that they can experience what it means to use a cryptocurrency.

We do that from this address:

http://explorer.givecoin.info/address/7PqsJbh2iMx8RtRmyrsCZvmrTekGCdhR5p

Once we have resolved the broken KGW implementation we will announce a target block to begin accepting POS transactions on the chain.  We are currently looking at gradual shift from POW to POS somewhere maybe around 250M coins -- so that the back half of the coinbase is generated by and for the benefit of stakeholders.

As always, feel free to comment or ask questions!

We are exploring shifting away from the broken and currently exploited KGW emit function in favor of the Digishield implementation.

Well the last 12 hours have been interesting...

The whole KARMA community seems to be a huge knife-fight at the moment!

I had thought that offering an opportunity to re-align the coinbases together might benefit both, however there is so much in-fighting going on within the KARMA community that its probably best to just slowly get up and back away from the table...

We have just finished building a portable / installable Mac OS X Givecoin 1.0 Wallet!

http://bit.ly/Wv2jgD

Download the Givecoin-Qt.dmg.zip and then simply drag-n-drop the Givecoin-Qt app into the Applications folder link that will appear.

I have personally tested this on:

 +  Mac OS X 10.6.8 (32-bit build workstation)
+  Mac OS X 10.7.5 (64-bit build workstartion) and my
 +  Mac OS X 10.9.4 (64-bit laptop) aka "Mavericks"

and it appears to work!

Let me know if you have any problems??

I hesitate to run a survey here since I'm told that the BTT implementation might be broken...

But I would like to know if there is an interest in having the Strength in Numbers Foundation team build and certify a Linux Qt wallet in addition to the Windows and Mac OS X wallets.

Found a couple of AWESOME resources to help with the Mac OS X deployment bundle:

First a shout to to hyperlogic for this

And to Chris for pointing us to:

new wallet synced to latest block  Wink

FANTASTIC!  Thank you so much for helping confirm that we have achieved a new stable build environment!

We have one last job to do with getting the Mac OS X Qt app to bundle up for distribution and then we will shift gears towards migrating to POS, fixing KGW and the GUI changes ala Clean Water Coin style.

I'm optimistic that we'll have the Mac OS X issue wrapped up in a day or so.

The Strength in Numbers Foundation development lab is starting to get busy!  We just took delivery of our 64bit iMac on Friday and are preparing the build system now (32-bit on the left, 64-bit on the right)

* THIS IS THE PRIMARY REASON WE HAVE ASKED BITTREX TO DISABLE TRADING *

It's obvious to anyone who watches the block explorer that someone is exploiting the KGW function in Givecoin

http://explorer.givecoin.info/chain/GiveCoin

They hit it HARD and pop blocks left and right, sometimes multiples in the same second -- and when the difficulty jumps up -- they leave us all holding the bag.

THIS IS BEING ADDRESSED IN 2GIVE

The Proof of Staking will help somewhat, but fundamentally the block emit time needs to be dynamic.

We are proposing that a new system be implemented to leverage a MINIMUM inter-block time that will need to be +/- one minute from target -- unless the block contains actual non POS transactions in which case the block should be immediately confirmed and rewarded.

Other ideas in addition to checkpoints include simply rejecting solutions from any node that has solved the last 3-5 blocks to prevent a 51% attack.
