The transaction age is 8 days, and the minting tab shows my coins are green/mature. But coin age still shows 0. What controls the coin age?
So I've got my coins in the wallet and they have finally reached 8 days old. But the probability of staking within the next 24 hours is at 0%. Can someone explain this staking probability, and how long should I expect for a block of 1million coins to stake?
Once they have coinage 1 million should stake within hours at most. Check coin control to see if you have coinage yet.

Thanks for your help thats cleared that up. Il probably run a diff laptop to keep it on all the time. Is there a guide on rebuilding the database in that situation? Do i just need to import the wallet.dat file via usb to new laptop and start building the database again? Thanks again youve been very helpfull to this 808 noob😎

No not at the start as you must wait 8.08 days before you can start staking so if for example you start with 100k you can just leave them in your wallet for 8 days and then open the wallet and unlock it up for staking. However with 100k it could take 10 days or so but with 500k or 1 million it should stake close to 9 days. A good amount to start with would be 500k to 1 million but any amount over 100k is a good starting point. A tip though I would open the wallet at least once a day to sync up with the network so when the 8 days comes around you don't have wait long when it comes to sync up with the network.
Okay the reason why I say you should open the wallet everyday before the 8 days when the coins will be mature to earn stakes is to save time when it comes to syncing with the network. If you don't open the wallet until the 8th day then you might have to wait 30 minutes or more for the wallet to sync up with the network. It doesn't really matter but I prefer to do it this way. Now once the 8 days are up, yes you have to leave your wallet open and unlocked for staking and keep it unlocked and opened until you earn a stake and then if you like you could close it and wait the 8 days again. Me personally I have it open all the time as I stake other pos coins as well and find it easier for me to just leave it open, plus I have a few large blocks of coins which could stake at any time now.

I can't answer your first question as I myself don't know how many coins will be in total. Your second question about the 385 million coins circulating, well no one really knows for sure if the whole amount is circulating as some people lose their wallet passpharses or other things like getting rid of an old computer that has coins on it, etc.... But I would say that there would be a good amount of coins circulating around, most of which I hope are in people's wallets staking but I see there is a fair bit on Cryptopia as well. Yes we'll be here to help you get started when you come aboard.

I've been a bit unlucky these past 2 days as I have missed out on 115k and now 123k as both were generated but not accepted lol so if you get some like this don't worry as this happens with all staking coins, it just comes down to luck most of the time.

Whatever you can afford. I would say 3 million is a solid starting point. With that amount you can bring in 500k in a little over a week. Also I'm pretty sure you only need to open the wallet every 8 days, once the coins mature.
