I still have AEON on poloniex and I just wanted to withdraw it to my offline Wallet.

But it is already for 24h on pending...

I have confirmed the e-mail for withdrawal.

Anybody else got the same problems?

Should I buy AEON now? Is it a good entry point?

You definitely should! the price is all time low. and the coin has potential to triple its price during the coming couple of months. if you have funds to spare then buy, transfer the coins to the private wallet, and wait until the price recovers. I guess the 10-12K range is ok to buy. it is very unlikely the price will go down much, though the up trend is starting to show its signs, so you can miss the big jump in price to like 18K

Hi I recently built a rig with an NVIDIA1080ti card and i7 processor. I am staking coins but am also trying to figure out how to solo mine. I currently mine with NiceHash but I want to at least solo mine even if it's just to learn a few things. So far I downloaded the server and client for AEON. This coin is my first attempt to solo. My server node is running and my wallet is open.
...

You can't solo mine on cryptonotes like you can with bitcoin clones if you want to use a GPU. You basically have to run your own pool.

So let me see if I understand this. CCMiner is basically just another NiceHash? I say that because no matter what, I have to use a pool to mine a coin?

Funny - I find it amazing how i'm smart enough to figure out how to solo mine. Why would you say I need to run my own pool?

Wallet says:
[wallet WmsJVr]: start_mining 1
Mining started in daemon
[wallet WmsJVr]:

Server says:
Mining has started with 1 threads, good luck!

Thanks for your help, I'm gonna make some adjustments now and rock this!

ccminer only pool mines for aeon or other cryptonotes. When the wallet says you're mining that means CPU mining.

Thank you for that last reply.

In concluding I understand this coin is a CPU/RAM coin of which I built my system around this same idea. I hope this coin sticks to the whitepaper ...

By now scrypt has already been applied in Litecoin [14] and some other Bitcoin forks.  How-
ever, its implementation is not really memory-bound:  the ratio “memory access time / overall
time” is not large enough because each instance uses only 128 KB. This permits GPU miners
to be roughly 10 times more effective and continues to leave the possibility of creating relatively
cheap but highly-efficient mining devices.

Moreover, the scrypt construction itself allows a linear trade-off between memory size and
CPU speed due to the fact that every block in the scratchpad is derived only from the previous.
For example, you can store every second block and recalculate the others in a lazy way, i.e.  only
when it becomes necessary.

This in turn implies that a machine with a CPU
200 times faster than the modern chips can store only 320 bytes of the scratchpad.

5.2    The proposed algorithm
We propose a new memory-bound algorithm for the proof-of-work pricing function.  It relies on
random access to a slow memory and emphasizes latency dependence. As opposed to scrypt every
new block (64 bytes in length) depends on all the previous blocks.  As a result a hypothetical
“memory-saver” should increase his calculation speed exponentially.
Our algorithm requires about 2 Mb per instance for the following reasons:
1.  It fits in the L3 cache (per core) of modern processors, which should become mainstream
in a few years;

Summary
Block time: 240 seconds  (Every 4 minutes)
Difficulty: re-targets at every block

I believe I need a config file so I created this ... I have this saved in my folder where the server and client are, Or do I need to have this in the ccminer foiolder?
rpcuser=xxxxxx    (( walletname ))
rpcpassword=xxxxx   (( wpassowrd ))
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=11180
port=11181
gen=0
server=1
addnode=94.130.32.60:11180
addnode=98.165.192.54:11180
addnode=5.9.40.202:11180
addnode=91.219.164.176:11180

I also made my bat file ... I have this in my ccminer folder and double click it to start the miner.
ccminer-x64.exe -q -a cryptolight -o http://127.0.0.1:11180/ -u walletname  -p wpassowrd

When the miner starts its so fast when it opens, but it also closes just as fast and I cant really read the red error I am getting. Would someone be so kind to help me. Thanks !!!

@smooth. I reckon, I might have a small idea why the term king is damaged. If it involves a Risto character then yes, but I did not dig into it.

Thank you for the update and it is good to hear from you.

@bbc.reporter

I'm still here, but please do not call me "the king". That phrase might be called 'damaged' in the greater Monero community at this point (if you don't know what that means, you're lucky).

We're steadily working on the rebase. It'll be done when it is done. I'm not going to make promises on delivery schedule of a volunteer-driven project.

Going forward we may consider restructuring things a bit so further progress can be accelerated, allocating funding for dedicated developer resources, etc. But right now AEON just needs a bit of patience to get to a good foundation first.

Lol SM the king.

Just FYI guys, I'm planning on starting a role playing game that is basically a sql database, which will use aeon as an in game currency, and I will bestow upon myself the title of forever emperor and require fealty from all peasants and peons who wish to join my magnificent game universe.

Seriously though, I had started on trying to rebase aeon to first monero release that included lmdb, then smooth said he was nearly finished with it so I put it aside...a couple months ago. Maybe we could get it out quicker if one or both of us put changes we've made so far in a public GitHub repo, so more people could collaborate easily with pull requests.

Hello,
is this Monero/Aeon Wallet generator safe to use?

https://github.com/moneromooo-monero/monero-wallet-generator/

I want to move my Aeon to an offline wallet.

Use the newest version:)

https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/6dr7q5/tool_modded_moneromooos_offline_wallet_generator/

Also make sure you use it offline for full security

@Elder III. Yes I have been patiently holding and waiting like a loyal subject waiting for his king's orders. But sometimes the most loyal of subjects need to hear from his king to know if he is still there.

The value of Aeon also comes from the trust the holders have in smooth himself. He is part of the Monero development team, which is one of the best in the cryptospace. If that trust breaks apart, so will the value of Aeon.

Yep, just be patient and keep mining is my motto. AEON is easily one of the best CPU coins to mine since it's much easier on the CPU then most algorithms, resulting in less power consumption and lower temperatures.

Are there any updates from smooth? I know that this is an open source project and we have taken the risk by buying Aeon but some updates from him, every 3 or 4 months would be nice. Unless there are none, then that is ok too since there is nothing we can do about it.

Its actually a month ago since the last update:P
Sooo no worries hehe
Here the latest statement abou the code rebase:

There is a link to an AMD GPU miner in the first post on the first page of this thread. I have tested it on the RX 400 series, so I think it will work fine on the Rx 500 series as well.

I downloaded this miner, and did not see the exe file, although the author shows that there are supposedly these files.

If it's not hard for you - could you show your configuration file, and tell what you need to fix for rx550. Sorry for my weak English, I do not speak this language.
