All of the planned changes for the next release have been merged to master except for the fork height and any fixes that might be needed after final testing.

At this time, anyone able to build from source is encouraged to pull from master and test the code. Ideally try to test as many of the functions of the CLI and/or GUI as you are able, not necessarily just the common ones you normally use.

There will likely be a testnet rollback or restart at some point so the forking code can be tested as well as the post-fork consensus code (K12 proof of work and fixed ring size). Stay tuned for announcements on this schedule to help with testnet testing.

@estenity. I do not know. The bitcoin news media appears to be very excited to confirm that it is owned by the plustoken ponzi, however, what if the wallet is owned by a rich investor? His privacy has now been destroyed because of a few tweets hehe.

@estenity. It is not only a protection versus dusting attacks but also a protection versus influencers from tweeting about large amount of coins moving and assuming something bad and tweeting about it in social media to cause a panic.

Dove Wan is an example if she is wrong. Search for her name in the news.

thank you bbc.reporter, in effect a lot of noise there;
plustoken scam confirmed ?

a good argument for anon transactions: the "dusting" attacks.

https://bitcoinist.com/litecoin-wallets-hit-by-large-scale-dusting-attack-so-what-is-it/

moreno and even aeon are firm against btc;
it seems to me that these "dusting" attacks are conceptually important to retrace filiation..

@boomboom. Ok, and it will not be bad for Aeon to be listed in AtomicDEX, I reckon hehe. You should message smooth and stoffu and suggest it to them directly.

@boomboom. I have seen him during my first days here in the community, however, none of what he creates are being used. Look at all the work he did in NXT, they are irrelevant.

The NXT devs made decisions that were not backwards compatible and broke all jl777's apps back in 2016, that made him realise he had to create his own platform to work on, which he did with komodo. You're correct that a lot of his tech isn't being used, but that's changing now, and AtomicDEX is the killer app for privacy conscious people who want to use crypto without burdens of KYC and security risks from centralised exchanges.

This might be the beginning of more future delistings for anonymous coins.

@smooth. What do you speculate for the future of Monero and Aeon and the exchanges' bending the knee to the regulators' demands?

Aeon should look into getting listed on jl777's AtomicDEX, 100% non-custodial decentralised exchange, no proxy tokens, no centralised servers, fully legal, no KYC, atomic swaps, users always control their private keys.

Other cryptonote coins are working on integration with jl777, aeon could benefit significantly.

Latest Sate of Aeon out https://link.medium.com/4bPqMI1gUY

Thank you for this update and all your state of Aeon updates. I should say that to the people outside development who keep striving for its success more often.

I honestly have been pessimistic lately, however reading this latest update helps bringing some feeling of hope back hehehe.

I'm looking for projects that are non-ICO open source that replace their versions of ICO. We've got Ruby dev team willing to be part of something like this.

what do you mean by non-ICO open source that replace their versions of ICO?

@wavessurfing. However, is Monero's resistance to Asics assured by RandomX? Aeon is switching to K12 because there was never a success in resisting Asics on any cryptocoin in the past.

beautiful marketing document, to comment before diffusion:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Aeon/comments/c9bk1b/aeon_marketing_initial_document/

I like it, however, the information is not that different from other cryptocoins. We have already seen this before repeatedly. It is not interesting anymore.

I reckon Aeon should go back to its original vision. A lightweight cryptonote coin that can run on your smart phone.

Those documents were more of a “welcome to Aeon” sort of document. They were not really intended to be some large informational source about what Aeon is. It’s a marketing document with more in depth to come.

Aside from that we are inching closer to k12.

How are the present GPU miners weighing in on the change? I reckon they should have no vote because they can always leave and transfer mining on another coin or continue mining the old chain.

However, who is making the Asics for k12 and are they accessible for anyone? I reckon this would be the next problem in this challenge hehe.

Producing ASICs for k12 will make sense economically only when the network grows substantially. And the availability of ASICs will be improved along with the market growth.

If the network grows and K12 Asics' availability is wide, I reckon Aeon's experiment on Asics might become Monero's insurance policy in case RandomX might prove to be not Asic resistant?

This is what I speculate.

it seems that Randomx is a technical success:

Agree, we need more information about project Aeon than this document.
