with 7 going on 8gb db size I am unsure pruning is needed for Aeon any time soon. It would not hurt to have it implemented by Moneromoo though.

I have no desire to run a full BTC node. I have a LTC node however that is about 17GB unpruned.

I run a few Aeon nodes that require no pruning and will likely never need pruning for a long, long , long , long, long , long ,long time unless there is some massive increase in daily TX's. Which by the way have increased a bunch the past 2 months or so.

IMO if you want to operate a full node, you need the entire blockchain with every transaction in history validated individually by yourself or you are "trusting" that other people are true. I don't personally like to trust others with my money. So far from what I've found, Aeon is the only established chain that can do this on an every day mobile device creating a true mobile, decentralized and private blockchain. It just works, no pruning required.

Note that fully validating all blocks and pruning some of the blockchain data are not mutually exclusive. You can always choose to remove all the downloaded ring signatures once verified by yourself for space savings; the only downside of doing so is that you can't help new participants sync the chain from scratch because you threw away the signatures. You do need to keep the entire set of tx outputs and key images though because otherwise you can't verify new ring signatures coming in as well as you can't select decoys to form ring signatures when making new txes.

Pruning signatures is a valid option for mobile devices even in a fully trustless setup.

I reckon Aeon should begin going back to its original vision hehehe.

@smooth. Is this in the roadmap or has Aeon moved on only to follow Monero's development as closely as it can?

How are you going to run a full BTC node on 120GB storage? 240..?. yea 512GB storage is a must to run that. So glad Aeon chain can be stored on most 16GB Smartphones and run a node pice of cake.

Side note, Aeon seems it will fork away from Monero even more soon. Aeon only picking up security and other necessary patches to keep it rolling steadily.

I reckon you need to get more experience in using the real software released by the projects itself and run a node to get to know them better. You would learn about pruning by now if you did.

PRIVATE AND NOT PREMINED: MONERO, AEON, KARBO

Just upgraded to newest 0.12.9.0 version from 0.12.5.0 on Mac. Daemon won't start, just get this for a long time then a screen "Daemon failed to start". Not sure what to do.

Also, the app won't quit. Just get spinning wheel of death forever...
Try to restart PC. If it doesn't help, find aeond.exe (should probably be called like that, don't remember of the top of my head). Launch aeond.exe first and then launch gui wallet.

Quite interesting how many people are actually testing on test-net right now yet have not posted any sort of testing results on the GitHub PR108. I think still many people are lurking in the shadows of Aeon.

given "impeccable" trajectory of romero in the baby bull market,

testers probably try to see if aeon can follow it technically.

Edit: furthermore these coins will be rare in the case of mass adoption.

so a good equivalent at lesser price could be useful and searched.

Everyone is very quiet in here hehehe. I reckon that the grassroots cryptocommunity model similar to how bitcoin started does not bode well for altcoins. There might be some altcoins that rode that wave and have reached its own success, however, if an altcoin has not achieved success by today, would it ever have a chance to be successful in using the grassroots community model?

How does one define a successful altcoin?

Everyone has been quiet the past month or so in the altcoinsphere. BTC price has appreciated nicely though. People dumping BCH for BTC?

There is not always a need to post daily activities. I have been reaching out to a list of business' for Aeon integration purposes. Seems many people are waiting on the fork to make any sort of move.

High transaction usage on the blockchain, high trading activity in the exchanges, listed in the biggest exchanges, a higher market capitalization than where Aeon is presently, a growing development team of good developers, a growing community made not only bagholders hehehe.

however we need some new information, waiting impatiently for the new decisions.

aeon has a good background, would be a pity not to capitalize on it.

the situation is also not so clear in the btc area, but there is a good move in btc price that may influence the final output (i feel outside comments difficult in this area)

@bigslimvdub. It was Bitmain testing their hardware all along hehehe.

In any case, this is the beginning. I would expect other Asic manufacturers to follow also.

Sold all AEONs out.
Sorry guys...

I am sorry to see you go. You might be late, however. Aeon appears to be stable and I reckon it might be the time to begin buying again.
