Now this is interesting: "In the upcoming months, it’s possible for the Chinese government to roll out a licensing program for ICOs, as an attempt to restructure the market and introduce legitimate ICO projects and Blockchain startups to the public for token sales and fundraising."

Has the difficulty being re-adjusted? Not seeing the big price rise I was expecting. hmm

Yes 13 Hours ago it was reduced making this more profitable compared to before but the profitability is still lacking behind the original chain by ~1%

At the current block generation time the next difficulty will be increasing by quite a bit though maybe as much as 30-40%

Actually BCH is more profitable and has been (and looks to continue without the price bump we thought we'd see) if only slightly.. you must be watching Coin Dance? Remember what you told me about it not being realtime?  Wink

Yeah, the difficulty is somewhat irrelevant to determining price.

Miners will or will not mine a coin based on it's current value, or potential value (whatever they think it "could" be worth).

If it's easier for them to mine, then it gives them more incentive to mine it. Even if the value of the coin is very low.

If it's harder for them to mine, then it gives them less incentive to mine it. Even if the value of the coin is very high.

A miner can mine a coin regardless of difficulty, extremely high, or extremely low. It's a matter of what they expect to gain out of it, whether immediately, or in the future.

I don't understand this difficulty thing. I mean, does it affect price up or down? If no effect at all, why does it matter?

The difficulty has nothing to do with the value it is to regulate the block generation time to a standard average of 10mins

The reason it matters is to the miners and what they earn when the difficulty goes up then the miners have to put more power (hashes/electricity) to solve the problem but the reward remains the same so effectively the miners earns less and the exact opposite happens when it goes down.

The difficulty is calculated using the last 2016 blocks that should equal 14 days (144 Blocks a day or 6 per hour average) so if blocks are found faster than this rate the difficulty goes up to slow the block generation down.

So far this period had found around 100 blocks averaging 7.5mins rather than 10mins or ~25% faster

When I read such things, I just {facepalm}  The Kore fanbois take Bitcoin's weaknesses, and tout them as strengths...

And some people think that lower fees are better.
Lower fees mean weaker network at the long run.

Some people like high gas prices (oil company executives), what's your point?

First off, crypto miners are after the block rewards, which are still a minimum of 4x any fee revenue they get. So there goes that theory... Secondly, high fees disincentivize transactions, what do you think will be the outcome of that? Derp.

.The less the block size, better for decentralization.I hope once LN gets activate in bitcoin the block size should be reduced to 500KB  Grin

LN won't work reliably even with 1MB BTC blocksize - mempool filling up will prevent settlement and could cause loss of funds. 500K blocks would at least double the magnitude of this problem. Derp.

Bitcoin Cash seems to be chugging along today despite all of the yapping about China. I'm starting to feel like the de facto crypto press meme is "blame China".

Please stop referring to zerohedge, every story (or should I say nonstory) that has been linked by them has not offered any new information that could have been found by visiting the exchanges in China and looking at their news posts.

There you go "The ban will only apply to trading of cryptocurrencies on exchanges, according to people familiar with the matter, who asked not to be named because the information is private." "OKCoin, BTC China and Huobi, the country’s three biggest bitcoin exchanges, said on Monday that they hadn’t received any regulatory notices concerning bans on cryptocurrency trading. All three venues reported transactions on Monday, with bitcoin rising 6.3 percent on OKCoin as of 11:56 a.m. local time."

BCC/BCH 2500 by end of the year.

2500 satoshi's ?

Lol I wish. I would buy ALL OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Grin

Seriously. My brother just sold his 20 BTC at 4500 to buy the real Bitcoin known as Bitcoin Peer to Peer Cash. he may be right or wrong its a 50/50 guess.

What you mean by 2500 Dollars or Satoshi. I don't think that is right move to invest all in into this coin which is just clone of original Bitcoin. It's much hard to predict about the future of BCH if Bitcoin grow to over $40k than you can keep for this.
