congrats bitmain!

sorry for asking, but how is the upgrade going to work for s1?

I suppose they will ship new pcb with 28nm ic only to users? some sort of DIY?

Any guess on price?

They only need to match the price for the rk-box       which is 599 usd

Their gear clearly bitch slaps the 450GH 480watt RK box

They did this to the ice fury and red fury usb sticks  last december.

the fury sticks were late to market  ant miners u-1 sticks were a far better price and  the fury sticks ended up being a bad buy.

I am not sure if the gear will work like it says it does but it is better then the sp10 if it does.    an sp10 can get 1th at 700-720 watts     really loud

so if this does 505gh at 390 watts .  it will be a beast.   if the upgrade kit is priced right  the s-1 upgrades will sell like mad.
However SP30 is coming out in August, that's what spondoodlies tech told me. I am planning on meeting up with them in Hong Kong (#proudtobehongkonger) and see what happens Smiley

the sp30 will be better per watt and for some will be the correct purchase.  but if you own s-1's and are stilling running them the upgrade kit will be better if priced correctly.

I am glad
a ) I kept a few under clocked/undervolted s-1's
b ) I did not buy an s-2
c) I waited on an rx-box it morphed into an rk-box and looks like a lame duck item.

I am looking forward to the launch of these.

The last price on the S1 was 0.409 BTC. This miner runs at 2.8 times the hashing power and about as efficient as the S1, so I would hazard a guess of about 1.4-1.6 BTC per miner. Around half the cost of the S2 kit rather than the S2 which has a PSU.

ASIC Wannabe

Let's see...504MH / 15.75 MH per chip = 32 chip...like 16 chips per blade...

Interesting...they could go to 1T without problems...IMHO...

no, the thermal density is the limitation - the S1 ran at up to 400W when overclocked, whereas this is shipping at 390W stock in the same size PCB. There is not much room to go higher, maybe 450-500W max dissipation with 2 fans

by the way, the casing looks a bit ugly in the images. I found that the S1 airflow could be very effectively controlled via stacking and horizontal operation. Will the casing add signicant cost to the product or shipping?

hope that this is priced in BTC again, starting at about 1.05-1.15 BTC.  (for reference ive been quoted just under 1BTC for a 480GH rockminer in the june 30 batch 2)

Any news on a successor to the U2 USB miner, the U3?   Wink

Soon, I guess. The U3 will be using the new BM1382 chip.

Probably will hash around the hr of 1 BM1382 (which is 15GH/s)?

I have 3 s-1's under volted and under clocked.  they do 420gh and pull 560 watts  two upgrade kits .  would bring me to 1008 gh and 780 watts.

I can manage   the power the heat and the noise.

In the current location.

A third upgrade kit would allow me to use the third s-1 in another location.

These will destroy AM's new Rk-box.  this is  good time to make the announcement. since Am has not released the 450GH 480 watt Rk-box.  And once again anyone that sent preorder money out to AM for a state of the art upgrade from an s-1   has taken a swift kick to the nuts.
