    People sometimes accuse me of being an imposter when it comes to Cannacoin so let me set you straight. Cannacoin was deployed on Mar 28, 2014 on the now defunct NWGT.ORG which was a medical cannabis forum and exchange.

    I am a "founding member" of the project as I was involved in the early development stages on IRC where I was appointed "social media director" by the "lead developers". I have spent the past several years managing the Facebook page and fulfilling various promotional and marketing roles.

    We still have an IRC channel open (#cannacoin) where I am, and always have been known as "deusopus". The "lead developers" have since orphaned the project and moved on to other ventures. They have not contributed to Cannacoin for years. Cannacoin is open-source and accessible on GitHub where "we" have garnered over 200 independent contributors to date.

    Special thanks are reserved for select CCN members that have remained loyal over the years but for the better part of five years or so now, myself and another "founding member" (8-bit) have essentially become majority contributors, caretakers, and custodians of the project.

    We have put a lot of our own time, effort, and energy into keeping the project alive all these years. If there are any questions, comments, or concerns about Cannacoin I would hope they be directed at us from now on.

ummm. we have a situation. i'm wondering if this is a cause for alarm...

i am caught up as far as the block count goes but my progress bar says three days behind...
what gives?

also, my coins are locked up in stake so when i go to send i am getting an error message telling me that i have an insufficient balance even though i have over 14,000 CCN...

furthermore, my wallet is telling me that i don't have any coins that are mature enough to stake. so while they are locked into the staking feature, they are not mature enough to stake, and because of this i am prevented from spending because my "current" balance is zero.

i'm trying not to panic here. do you know what is happening? i emailed you about it as well.

Now we are planning an ICO for a new batch of tokens on Avalanche C-Chain to begin on our 9 year anniversary of March 28th through Apr 20th (duh). As far as tokenomics, we think that a single token should be initially valued at a satoshi. To us this seems logical. We have yet to formally tack down the tokenomics but we will have a 13 trillion token supply to 18 decimals and possibly a tax in order to sponsor NORML and the safe access, harm reduction, and wellness lobby. In the long run we are offering community service such as food and housing for the homeless and low income and mentally and physically disabled. We also want to sponsor drug and mental rehabilitation as well as medicine and medical care. We want to offer legal aid to those incarcerated for non-violent cannabis crimes.

The Cannacoin Cryptocurrency Project, now "Cannacoin Core" and also introducing the new "Cannacoin" ERC-20 token, is a cryptocurrency protocol for the cannabis community, and was first deployed on March 28, 2014 on NWGT.org as a solution to the "cash only" predicament beset on growers, dispensaries, and consumers alike through Federal regulation was also a response to the Global Financial Crisis of 2008. It is the evolution of distributed computing and the BitTorrent protocol. It was the brainchild of the pseudonymous Subcreative, the founder of the popular, but now defunct, "NWGT.org" (Northwest Green Thumb) online medical cannabis forum based in the Pacific Northwest which grew from a simple CL encounter between medical marijuana patients to a lofty 50,000+ membership status at its peak. We were proudly among the first 100 or so "cryptocoins" deployed to the internet at large, and therefore the world, of all time. We are a fork of Litecoin with our own proprietary blockchain and were initially distributed under fair disbursement and proof-of work with no premine and no ICO.

As mentioned, Cannacoin Core(CCN) was proudly released under fair distribution with 0.00% pre-mine and no ICO to members of NWGT.org. Cannacoin expertly transitioned to "Proof of Stake" at block 370,000 on December 9th, 2014 with a nominal stake interest of 2.00% annually. There were 4,625,000 CCN minted during the "Proof of Work" phase. Cannacoin has a max supply of 13,140,000. As of this writing we are close to approaching 1M blocks.

We believe that the so-called "Drug War" initiated by DEA has been a complete and utter failure of our rights and civil liberties as well as a health crisis of monumental proportions. We understand that the prohibition of cannabis has led to the dreadful proliferation of deadly gangs and even more dangerous and deadly street drugs. It has also, in our belief, weakened the health of the general population by removing hemp from the food chain where it had been a staple for thousands of years nourishing our inborne cannabinoid system and balancing essential biological systems in our bodies.

Since 2014, Cannacoin Core has had no marked purpose other than to facilitate cannabis transactions, but that is going to change. We are now making a bold and move forward by deciding to update our operating policy to include the alignment of forces with the likes of NORML.org and MPAA.org for the expansion and support of cannabis law reform as a community service of paramount importance.
