Covalent protocols when done would limit access of 3rd party to internet users personal data. That would keep users in control of their data.
I think that’s really nice. What else do you think Covalent smart internet could offer internet users. ?

I have to admit. For me, it's still a bit abstract or quite hard to imagine how their new Internet protocol will work in practice. But their approach to stopping data abuse is their most important selling point if you ask me.

I think there was a video about how it all works. It is practically just replacing the conventional https:// with COVA:// and all data will be protected.

I like that about exchanging our common or regular https with cova and we will know that we are really using the cova features and services. We will know more about it soon I guess once they release more updates about it.

I am honestly mostly interested in the adoption part; I mean how will the current or existing application adopt the protocol; would it be straight forward or it would require a special kind of setup.

I believe the migration will be a gradual process, its not something that individuals will quickly accept, it will take sometime and just like i mentioned earlier, the good reviews that users will drop is the key ingredient to the global acceptance of the new protocol that cova intends to introduce, i'm intrigued to actually experience how they intend to achieve their target

Guy's, why GitHub direct link is not working from covalent.ai? It's still showing error 404 page not found. Is there any kind of changes going on covalent site?

Which links are not working for you exactly? Are you talking about the links from the list of private preview repositories (https://github.com/covalent-hq/wiki/wiki/Source-Code)? If so it's totally normal that you get the 404 error. Their core source code is private and they only have opened it up to selected technologists and investors. So if you want to get access, you have to write them a mail ([email protected]).

Please ask this question in their telegram channel. Probably some link error and mistake. I remember seen the link earlier also. If I am right.

cova: // is only the visible part, which we hope we do not have to type ourselves. The page providers should then themselves be so far that they only support the Cova protocol (of course, together with the security standards of https)
Although I'm looking forward to the first time, when I see a cova: // above, but that will probably take years

I think with this they should be able to work on providing their own browser as well
That will commensurate with the new internet protocol they are aiming at building

That'll will help them infiltrate the market quickly. I second this as well, they ought to have thought of this already given how the creative the team can be.

Are there any other projects that have the same or similar idea as Cova?

I know of Datum, for example, but they have a totally different approach to bring back control over their data to users if I remember correctly (so no real competitor).

I don’t think they’ve any strong competition, their idea is unique to start with, I see them doing very well in time to come.

There are no competition yet. Some similarity with some dataprivacy projects like DATUM, but COVA PROTOCOL is not just about data privacy. But I think COVA smart protocol would make a smart internet from user data this time with the permission of users
Hope so Cova is made some more good changes which is previously ignore by mistaken by another projects. I have lot of the expectations from Cova

well DATA Theft has really been a huge problem for present days! we needed a CURE, a solution to protect ourselves from being exposed over internet! and i stongly believe can COVA can change it!

The painful part is the users are exposed and their privacy are invaded without the knowledge of the user. The control is really welcomed but the users will need to be educated first on these issues to bring it to their awareness.

Exactly, I find that very irritable. Worse is when I start receiving emails from newsletters I am sure I never subscribed for. I always wonder how they got through to me.
Provably you signed up for a news later in some  website!  And Owner gave them away for money to some othet website owner!
That's really becoming a theft to us! I wish we had a prevention from beginning!

So basically from a user standpoint, there's not much that I will have to change, right? It all depends on the website to implement the cova protocol on their site.

as I understand it, we will not have to change much. Except for one thing: we have to choose who has access to our data and how he can use them. I do not know yet how exactly this will work

I think it will change but it will be up to them on how they make the adoption. for one to access it you need to use a different protocol; so instead of http: you will be using cova: Now if they end up using the standard conventions; adoption will follow easier.

DATUM is all about gathering dataset while cova wants to create a new internet protocol based on smart contract. COVA wants to make the internet smarter while DATUM wants to bring about easy access to data

I think they are working two different platforms that are not necessarily competition. Cova can be thought of both as a utility and as a marketplace. I don't have much details about datum but from the initial reading Cova has the policy as a plus.

I believe i once saw a writeup about Cova having to offer something like a marketplace and like you said, don't no more of  datum but cova seems more like a collection of everything, how do i mean?, the internet protocol that they will be offering tends to be a platform where every entity on the internet can utilize in order to stay safe

It looks easy when you put it that way. The team would be doing every internet user a favour by creating a smart internet.
There are many ways to protect your personal data. You could stay offline and pretend the internet doesn’t exit, or you could use a smart internet and keep your data Strictly Private.

Lol, from experience I know it is hard to stay offline just to be "safe" as the internet has really come to be a part of our existence.

Going offline is the best way to be safe in this present times but is it even possible to go offline when the Internet is a big part of our lives.

No to what I understand it’s on both sides their taking the power away from the site and giving it to the consumers to protect their own information and grant permission

You can really see they are more developers than graphics and web designers, they need to hire people to improve the visibile side of the project it's got some serious potential and it would suck if that first impression would deter anyone with the prooject having a lot of potential

well, what they want to develop is more of a software engineering problem than graphics related, the underlying technology is more like protocol so the team needs more developers.

Of course I know that and the tech side of things like I said sounds great but sadly in this world of tech people like eye candy and presentation before they trust things it’s just a fact it’s why every tech team tends to have a graphic dept

It needs to be presented well, that is true. It's what most investors pay attention to. At least the smaller scale investors.
