Read most of the thread. Still a little confused....Let see if i get this...If i fold with my gpus i get coins...Is this correct. Maybe a video showing how to get started folding/mining would help...Just a thought. I would really like to use my mining for something other than coins....

Be kind man, don't be mankind
You got my ASICs mining Curecoin and 4 mostly-idle computers folding. Well done!

Although it's way too soon for extra projects, any thoughts about curecoin becoming a part of human-powered folding via http://fold.it/ or similar?

Great question! One of the benefits of the way we are handling payouts is that new projects can be added to the coin, which would allow people to earn coins on more projects than folding@home. While we aren't planning for any specific project right now, the possibility is certainly there, fold.it is an awesome project, and a human-powered means of earning Curecoins would certainly be an attraction.

That's great, since machines made of proteins (humans) are good at folding proteins, it'd be a fun way to get people with low hardware power involved, since their inbuilt cpu/gpu combo (brain/eyes) is pre-optimised for folding Wink

Also: mac wallet soon? offer a bounty for first compile if you don't have a mac dev on board?

Also also: MacOsX can't fold using gpu, (although windows running on a mac will).
It looks like it works but never receives work. Known issue. Thought I'd put it in this thread.

Also also also: I might have inadvertently hijacked a long-abandoned F@H username, even though the F@H site sent me a passkey for it. In my F@H noob-ness I didn't notice that it has WU history from 2012 and earlier. I guess if they try to fold now with that username they'll be prompted for a passkey and have to set up a new folding name, so it looks like you need a disclaimer on cryptobullionpools etc to avoid this by picking an unused username for folding, lest we annoy F@H users without passkeys from long before curecoin's launch, or even encounter potential situations of F@H users contributing unknowingly to someone's coin earn.

You were too late to submit your WU before the pool did its daily update, your should see your coins tomorrow, this is normal
I folded all night and got ~3000 points according to the web interface, but the pool says 0 coins.  WTF?

It would be really nice if the pool at least showed that it knows I'm connected so I don't have to worry about missing out on a day of mining if my folder is misconfigured

Yep, this needs to be improved.

Hey Daliss! The update from f@h to the Curecoin folding pool (cryptobullionpools.com) occurs once every 24 hours. Smiley

For your rigs, those projects are very similar, and shouldn't be showing that discrepancy. Has this changed? If not, check the logs, and manually calculate the TPF by looking at the difference between timestamps on two messages from the same FS0x saying a new percent has completed, and compare that to the other rig. If those are similar, you should be fine and the PPD calculation is just off for now. If they are drastically different, then one machine is running significantly slower.

For a failed GPU, try restarting the computer, though that sounds like the driver is reporting a bad/failing GPU. Does mining work alright on that card?

The failed gpu is mining fine so I don't get it, I removed it from slots for the moment.

Two more important questions :

- Can I switch easily from folding to mining? Can I pause folding and launch mining at any time?
- Is there anyway to remotely control several folding machines?

I guess you can just pause the folding and put your gpus to mining. But you might lose out a few points for QRB? (quick return bonus) Someone more knowledgeable can advise.

Using FAHControl you can remote control your folding machines.

Any troubleshooter available regarding folding on Nvidia?
On GTX 670 on one of my machines PPD of 3000 seems a bit low?

hands down the greatest innovation in mining history.  Why mine for anything other then a cure?  All coins should find a way to be payouts for folding.

my son has type 1 diabetes. If mining this can help find a cure for that then I am all in. awesome work you guys, good to be happy about a crypto project for once.

Welcome aboard! You might be interested in checking out the Chrome extension, the current project being assigned for those is folding for human islet amyloid polypeptide, which is a hormone for glycemic balance in the pancreas.

I love that they show what the work goes towards.

Hey, it appears that your GPUs are slow. Since this post was a few hours ago, did the folding catch up and start performing a lot better, or would you like some help troubleshooting those?

@Vorksholk
How much is the total supply of Curecoin? Unlimited?
Are there any reference values for PPD with 280x gpus?

There is no hard limit to the number of curecoins, however a set amount (7488 until the block halving in 4 years) is paid out per day for folding. As the coin is PoS, the total network value will continue to grow.

There isn't a specific reference yet, however a 280x is basically a 7970, which should be earning somewhere around 120-160k PPD.

Hi questions from a noob :

-In the f@h client, what should I do when one of my gpu is showing in red with failed written on it?
-I have 2 absolutly identical rigs, why one is showing 300k ppd and the other only 90k? The only difference I see is the number of the project, one is working on 9406, the other is working on 9408.
-When ppd points are credited from f@h to curecoin account? 2500k ppd done and zero showing on my account...

Thank you

When is the payout @ cryptobullionpools.com done? is it every 24h @ a specific time every day?

So far I have done 20 WU, but score is 0, How long does it take to get some points?

Yup, done once ever 24 hours, the next payout will be around 2am EST.

Seems like it would be very energy inefficient to fold with a CPU when you have a GPU, no? Is there a reason to keep the CPU going if it's not needed for the GPUs unless I have free energy or a REALLY grand desire to throw every possible resource at this? Smiley

Also, how long does it take them to send me a passkey? It's been 30 minutes and still nothing to both the emails I've tried. Not in the spam folder.

Edit: I guess this is my first post here, so I'll take the chance to congratulate the team on this excellent endeavor. I'm one of the donors and a long time follower and supporter. There's something heartwarming about seeing my processing power going towards something so useful! The last time I did this I only had a Pentium 2 running at 300mhz. Cheesy

Depending on the type of CPU you have, GPU mining is generally *far* more efficient. For people with very beefy CPUs (16+ cores) on linux, they can get bigadv WUs, which can earn upwards of 300k PPD. However, with standard desktop processors, the points payout is considerably lower (by a factor of 10-40) .

Whats the difference between a mining pool and a folding pool ?

The folding pool (cryptobullionpools.com) handles the payouts for all folding earnings.
The mining pools are set up by 3rd parties, and allow people to use their ASICs to secure the blockchain and get the mining share of the coin. Smiley
