I'm a PoS noob. How do I turn on minting?

I will be turning on PoS tomorrow (Friday) evening (GMT time).
Together with our code dev we'll be monitoring the network all night for possible problems.
If you have coins for minting please (if you can) use them to mint - would be good to do a stress test on the network with everyone minting. Remember the more blocks we mint the less blocks miners get = higher DMD price.
Minting is also an extremely important security feature as now we are protected only by the miners' Mh/s which isn't that high.
Support the network, support the price, mint

Please do not be paranoid about unlocking your wallet for minting. Eventually DMD will become mostly PoS coin so it's something we will all have to get used to. There will be tools created to help us predict when minting is due.
At the moment, any additional hash will help to protect the network.
I want to remind some of you that DMD is a deposit coin and not high volume money printer. The interest is set to 1% but one can stake every ~7 days (this adds extra incentive for network protection). The interest might appear low right now, but we are really in the issuance period and eventually that 1% will be a lot.

You mean that if I have 100DMD, then every 7 days, I'll have 1DMD?

I really liked this coin. Is the only one I could mine some with my VSH.
I read there will be about 4.8 mil. How many there are so far? What's the expected lifespam?

i guess u missinterpret the situation
look closer u will see that hours autosell dump price and then big buys are happening
thats not a dying coin
that intended price manipulation
there people who try to buy in this coin as cheap as possible
and they doing it successfull
guess what this people will do once they gathered their target amount of dmd.......
maybe some of this people also part of the dmd inner circle....
dead coins dont release wallet updates and have big buy waves
low market cap coins are vulnerable
but people who play the market dont do it to lose money
so best bet is to join in and earn together with them

As Studentwiskunde suggested lets try to vote us into BTER a Chinese exchange.
Apparently they've already started accepting votes quite some time before but I think we might still have some chance to leave our mark.
Please ask them there to add Diamond Coin to the list and once they do please cast your vote.

I agree the whole women and dimaonds thing is a little far fetched. Almost all the alts are heading down, people are dumping them on the exchanges. The test is wether the community can survive or not.

What should I do?
Just wait a few more days. PoS is still not turned on, we are waiting for more people to upgrade to the newest version - mining pools and cryptsy have been notified.
I'll post here a notice a day before we turn it on, so everyone knows what's going on.

What I did was to delete the old block chain and download again...
The wallet seems to have the same amount now, but doesn't seem to initiate any PoS
So are you saying we might have an incompatible fork now?
EDIT: I have successfully updated some 1.0.3 wallets to 1.0.4, so it might be some issue with 1.0.2 to 1.0.4? Neither wallet does PoS now, even though they have coins since December 2013 in there.

That log was from the old client, and the new client would not start with the stored blockhain. Was this a fork or not? If not, what could be the problem? I could provide a copy of the old "bad" database if that helps.
