Did we gather all the funds for the PR campaign?
Well, with recent price perturbations of both BTC & DMD we are not as well off as we expected to be but as it had been said before the Foundation will double whatever has been contributed and fill the lacking amount.
The promo should start in the first days of September depending on 3rd party responsiveness.
We will be aiming to introduce the concept of minting to those who are still either unaware of it or have trust issues with such system. And believe me there are plenty of those.
September is usually a good period for this kind of informational promo as holiday season finishes and people tend to spend more time in the web.
We shall also see a complimentary website with most curial and important PoS related questions and answers. We believe there is a lot of misinformation and unawareness when it comes to staking and how wonderful it is.
We don't want to preach to converted but rather expand on the user base.
This Promo is the first in the series of press releases and articles.

expected 10-15k dmd are on market still in hands of daytraders
once this coins find a new home the stabilisation and rise of DMD markets can be longterm sustainable
the orgin of the problem as we expected was that this coins got bought by daytraders at low 0.00070-80
so they can now sell/dump them with profit
there lead no way around this the coins must be eaten up

Has anyone talked to Presstab about getting him to setup one of his custom explorers for DMD??

I did. He will do it, but we would need to pay him a hosting fee. He said, "a $30 install fee because it will take me a few hours. It would come out to around $120/0.52btc for 6 months"
DMD Diamond Foundation paid the chainz explorer
we dont plan to pay more than 1 paid explorer solution
but if the community want a presstab explorer go for it
chainz is 1 btc a year and we used up 6 months until yet
its admin is very responsible in im happy with their services
they also run a high connection node so its additional a backbone node for network
I talked with Cryptonit after I talked with Presstab and I agreed with Cryptonit that our donations could be better spent on other community endeavors. When I initially contacted Presstab I was hoping he would do it for free, but hosting and configuring does cost time and effort, so I understand the small cost. I really like the Presstab block explorer but since DMD already has one paid block explorer I rather work on other donation projects.

His last stake was at around 160DMD, then he depleted 16k.

I think that was probably the most likely cause. As Mister1k mentioned, there were margin calls and lots of forced liquidations earlier this week that had a lot of people scrambling for cash. This looks to fit that mold. It also correlates with what we generally saw in BTC as well.
. . . and what makes matters worse for the poor soul was that everything was sold at a loss since the average purchase price was well above the average sell.
