That's what I've got from Cryptsy today

"I do apologize for the delay, however the best way to get answers on a coin that is having blockchain issues is to go to the forums to get ahold of the developer for them to work out a fix. Once they are able to put out a fix our wallet specialist will be able to help out on our end.

Sincerely
Mark

If anyone out there wants to do the right thing and put a heater on the coin for a day or so i think it would offer you a good opportunity and the new fork can carry on if they like but hopefully cryptsy will stay on the old fork,

I am not representing cryptsy here but since they did not answer me I am stating what I think is the right thing , the honest thing,
Cryptsy has put its Elacoin wallet in "maintenance," suspending all deposits and withdrawals, and it's been that way for the past month or so.  I am unsure if this has anything to do with the fork, since "maintenance" only began in mid November, well after the fork would have taken place.

For anyone unfamiliar with Cryptsy's practices, Cryptsy doesn't delist coins with block chains that do not advance, they just go into perpetual wallet maintenance and stay in this state even once the blockchain continues advancing.  There's about 20 coins on Cryptsy in this state, including Elacoin.  You can still trade Elacoin on Cryptsy but since you can't withdrawal them it's no better than something like Cryptsy Points.  Honestly, I think that trading should halted if there is no way for a person to deposit or withdrawal coins, but this is the way Cryptsy conducts business.

I wish anyone who tries to contact Cryptsy about their Elacoin market luck.  I've tried multiple times to contact Cryptsy about the status of their wallet maintenance for Elacoin and other coins, and I've either gotten no response or a vague "I can't give you an estimate when they will be back online."  In my experience Cryptsy doesn't seem to be all that concerned about getting their smaller markets back online.

I'm not the guy behind the hardfork
Math5x as the initial developer of ELC can confirm that I've done a lot in trials to resurrect ELC a year before the hardfork arise.
I've supported the "takeover team" for the sole reason that they are DOING rather that SITTING.
And I'm interested in that JUST BECAUSE I'm also holding ELC and I suspect that my holding are much more that yours, so I'm not interested at price dumping at all
But I suspect that abandoned coin also worth nothing....

well i don't care how many people agree,

when you hard fork a coin change the algorithm and start selling it on another exchange for a fraction of the value it was trading at I think these results alone show it was a bad idea,

When a project is released to the world , it needs to stand up to technology,

I think more would mine the coin and 'jar' it loose if there were more nodes and really all it would take is a few hours of someone with some of the new asic firepower to bump it along,

When a 'hostile takeover' (sorry that is how I see it) is done, I can understand the reluctance of anyone to mine either blockchain

In reality I consider hostile takeovers of coins an attack on the coin itself....

You could just as easily have cloned the concept of this coin and released a new coin with neoscrypt and have had none of these issues....

Why would you not do that .... I suspect you wanted to 'force' cryptsy and others like myself who hold a lot of these coins in the old format to dump them for nothing in your new algo,

I don't care i will just as soon let the coin die than support a hostile takeover of this coin,

If anyone out there wants to do the right thing and put a heater on the coin for a day or so i think it would offer you a good opportunity and the new fork can carry on if they like but hopefully cryptsy will stay on the old fork,

Anyone who does not agree with me has the right to do otherwise....

Depending on what takes place in the next few days I may look for another way to move things along,  but i need to speak to a few others I am in contact with from time to time and get buy in from them

Theoretically I agree, but in the real world we understand that however genius the inital dev is - there is a need to refine the algo to avoid the situation that we've got right now - the diff stuck at high level, retarget is many block ahead and blockchain stuck.

we've got some discussion here and people agree that something need to be changed and fortunately there are (or there was) people wishing to change. Nobody suffer in this situation, lots of altcoins do hardforks

in my eyes , the 'old' block chain as you call it is the only real blockchain,  some stranger decides to fork someone else coin ?
come on

the original blockchain is the coin , anything else is not / my opinoin

Interesting thing is what is block height at Cryptsy's wallet:))

I'm continuously trying to get in touch with Cryptsy and explain that it is a dead end staying on old blockchain.....
