Hey everyone,

I'm new to the game. I bought a bunch of ESP on Yobit back in October and now the wallet is in "maintenance" mode. Are my coins lost or is there a way of somehow salvaging them and converting them to the new version?

Thanks

Welcome to crypto, since you are a newbie; you should also know that Yobit cannot be trusted as an exchange as they have the sad habit of never updating coin wallet software.

They also never answer back to technical support problems; if you send money to Yobit, it's at your own peril - 60% chance you will  lose it all. Most coins at Yobit are permanently in "maintenance mode".

If you bought ESP at Yobit, sell it right now at Yobit, buy DOGE or Litecoin and move your coin out of there, then never go back to Yobit. Before withdrawing, ask in the chatbox to make sure there is no problem with the coin you will be using to withdraw, because if there is any kind of problem you cannot get any help.

Thanks. I'm learning the hard way about that exchange.

Ok i tried your first suggested solution: i deleted the whole esp folder except wallet.dat, loaded the bootstrap from jackbox a few pages back because i couldnt find an official one, then synched and did a rescan. My balance is still 0.
So either i messed up with the bootstrap (because the UI is bugged i cant really read anything that is written under the "network" section, the text is just chopped off) and maybe downloaded a wrong one or i messed up with the rescan (i put the line rescan=1 in the conf file).
Could you please point me to the official bootstrap, because the link on the first page doesnt work for me.

Thanks.

Yes the ESP dev team should fix the link to the official bootstrap in the OP, it's important.

I'm not sure about how you did your rescan. When you restarted the wallet, did it say "Rescanning" ?

When I want to rescan, I create a shortcut to the wallet .exe file, then I add "-rescan" argument to the .exe "Target" command line of the shortcut icon (in get properties of that shortcut icon).

I tried your method and the method where you add rescan=1 in the conf file. Both methods don't seem to be doing anything...

I'm debugging with a friend at the moment and in his opinion the rescan should take much longer than it takes for me. When i'm opening the wallet it does say "Rescanning" but it only takes a few seconds and it is (seemingly) done.I can't really determine if the wallet is doing something in the background but it doesn't seem so.

I don't know what to do, it just doesn't want to work. (Besides i have a very similar problem with ecc)  Sad

Hello, I purchased esper coin on coinExchange.. Am i going to be ok to leave it there? what is happening .. thank you

You should be fine, as long as you don't withdraw. Wait for a more stable version to come out in order to withdraw, that would be my recommendation.

So if i sent my ESP from an old wallet to coinexchange the coins are in limbo now, right?

I would really check to make sure everybody (sender and receiver) are on the right fork. Otherwise, dont send ESP until they fix this terrible network mess.

Already to late. I sent them yesterday from the old wallet to coinexchnage in a rush and got worried when i read about all the different chains which are/were seemingly in circulation.
I already booked this as a very stupid loss, but it would be nice if there was a way to recover them. But i highly doubt it...

Would have made a a nice rig upgrade but hey, i'm still in a quite big profit overall, so i can live with that Smiley

If you sent ESP while on the wrong fork, this transaction should be canceled when you are back on the right fork as "it did not really happen". Delete all roaming/ESP folder files except wallet.dat, load bootstrap from the OP of this thread, sync, then rescan and your coin should be back.

If you sent ESP and you were on the right fork but nobody confirmed it, then the network will reject your send and you will get your coin back.

If you send ESP on the right fork but exchange was on the wrong fork, you will get your ESP at exchange as soon as they update to new software;

either case, you should not lose any coin, just the inconvenience.

I also can not send my bought ESP coins from livecoin, i only can deposit ESP on livecoin.
I can send my other coins so it seems a problem with this wallet only.

I opened a ticket so i am waiting for an answer and i will let you know.

We  can see at Livecoin.net, in their "balances" section, that only ESP deposits are allowed at this time, so I tried a test deposit at Livecoin.net but even that, hasn't worked yet.

What I wanted to know is, with current ESP network mess, how can we tell that they are on the right fork so I could safely make deposits?

Does coinexchange show the wallet version that they have, along with block number so we can check whether a deposit there will not be lost?

So if i sent espers from my wallet (correct blockchain) to coinexchange (apparently wrong one according to this ann), are they lost or will they be returned after 24h?

Followup: they arrived today in coinexchange
