Is there anyway to see if the hacker has moved funds on the etc chain?

Lol, that was an inside job. That hack was the perfect excuse for Vitalik to fork Ethereum and make a lot of money. Classic false flag attack.

..like bright metal on a sullen ground.
I have restored my DAO tokens on a new blockchain.
Can i restore them on the classic blockchain as well?

Yes of course.

So the Dao persits in the Classic Blockchain, with all it's vulnerabilities to legal manipulation.

The outcome here would seem to depend on the degree of infrastructure written for the ETC chain. Can the old versions of Mist etc and wallets be used (for ETC)  without any updating ?

Some updating will be necessary for ETC chain because ETH has difficulty bomb coded into into it.  It will have to choose to follow ETH dev's PoS path or stay with PoW.

As for DAO, maybe the hacker can fulfill its mission and fund some startups with ETC?  Tongue

What is a replay attack exactly? How does that work?

The transactions you broadcast to one chain can be replayed on the other chain and cause your ETH to move when you move ETC and vice versa. Best is to move the coins to new addresses and stop using prefork addresses.

If you would like to mine on http://pool.ethereumclassic.com/ by rented hashing power you can now do it so with NiceHash:

1. register an account at https://www.nicehash.com
2. go to Account / Manage my pools, enter pool details:

Pool URL: stratum+tcp://pool.ethereumclassic.com
Pool PORT: 8008
Username: your ETC address
Password: # (you actually have to put # char for password, see here for details: https://www.nicehash.com/index.jsp?p=news&id=91)

3. go to Account / New Order and place new order.

Keep on hashing!

Best regards,
NiceHash team.

Only problem is a lot of users report not getting payouts from that pool, one user also reported a social engineering attack.

Better if people use the coinminers pool.

suprnova is coming soon I believe.

ocminer how long do u need for the new pool?[Suspicious link removed]plete now? Smiley

Why do we need a new pool? ETC should not be launched in the first place.

You must think about this... ETH can only pump 1.5X, but ETC can pump 15X. So whos the winner? ETC will win this battle.

Agreed and after bitfinex adds etc it should start to find a much higher price it looks heavily held down right now.

I can confirm that nicehash is working with coinminers pool but dont forget tu use this char as a password # , if you dont use # as a password won;t work

Always remember centrally controlled and manipulated things are bad as we saw with carbonvote.

Can someone explain me what they mean by the first point here:

https://github.com/ethereumclassic/README/issues/3

"First of all, it is advisable to use two separate sets of private keys for operations on each network: one set for Ethereum, another for Ethereum Classic. Don't reuse the same key on the other network, even though they have the same format."

It means I cannot use the same Address for transactions on both chains? I'm confused with that

Before you flame me, yes, I have screwed up bad. That being said, is there any way to fix this situation?

I sent a test to Polo from what I though was pre hf mist. It worked and I was given 13 ETC for the 13 ETH i sent along with my ETH. So I sent 400 eth but apparently something went wrong, user error I am sure. It looks like I sent 400 ETH to the polo ETC wallet address. My test worked, but the big transfer didn't. So now I can see 400 eth that was sent to the Polo ETC wallet address successfully but no conversion of any sort. this also took the ETH from my post HF wallet as well. I have a ticket with Polo open but wanted to ask if there was anything I can do on my side to recover the 400 ETH? Any ideas? I later found a splitter contract that apparently is designed to avoid this exact situation but I am a day late and a dollar short.

I am willing to offer up a reward to anyone who can help me recover. Any ideas?

ETH is not ETC - you cant send ETH to ETC wallets and vica versa they are different chains.

That's not what he means, though. He means when he sent his ETH to his Polo wallet that he sent ETH to his ETH wallet and ETC to his ETC wallet in the same transaction. He tried to replicate this with a larger transaction and didn't get the same results. So, I guess he needs to find a way to open his wallet on the other chain.

Thanks, I am in the process of syncing the chain on another pc so I can at least recover some of the ETC. The ETH appears to be sitting in the contract that Polo was using to convert, I am hopeful their support will either manally process or return. Thanks again for the suggestion. that will get the ETC, sometign is better than nothing

Man, I did the same mistake. From my mobile (freewallet) ETH address I sent ETH (thankfully only 10) to my polo ETC address.
Please let me know if you have any success.
