It probably just needed some time.

hey, I tried to check my fedoracoin folders for the config file, but it seems I don't have one and I don't know how to find the nodes my wallet is connecting to  Huh
maybe leave it open for a little longer, I have now 3 nodes after opening for like 5 minutes.
(can anybody help us out here??)

about the themes, though we are now here in the process of figuring that out and making it a strategy, I would say anything you can think of where we use the word TIPS (that's what has been our theme anyway). so yah, bars, restaurants, musicians, artists (eg graffity artists signing with their logo and people sending them tips but we need to figure out a good way to do that), and also in the chat rooms people tipping each other. also have a look at my facebook group called TiPS4tips, where people are supposed to exchange useful information especially when they have questions and in return get rewarded with TIPS for their tips  Smiley https://www.facebook.com/groups/1478427829039015/

welcome georgem! I'm glad you followed my invitation  Cheesy
as you see we are trying to get the community organized and mobilized to start taking action and hopefully take our coin to the next level, so we need creative people like you!
We will probably concentrate on making our coin the coin of choice in specific markets, such as tipping in restaurants and bars, or in chat rooms etc.
I hope you like what you see, and I hope you stick around help us with gifs some time soon!

Where can I find pic material (photoshop or similar) of all the fedoracoin related icons, symbols, grafix etc?

Would help me when creating GIFs...

Here's my 2 cents or 2 TIPS !!

What do we already have ??

1) A coin mixing service ( just needs transaction volume ) that provides a level of anonymity ..
2) A large number of coins ( too large ?? )
3) The symbol TIPS
4) w/fedoracoin payments system https://pay.withfedoraco.in/

Let's keep it simple ..

We should emphasize TIPS for 'tips' and 'tipping'
We need a mobile app for 'tipping' TIPS in bars/clubs/restaurants etc
We need a web TIPS button that content providers can add to their web pages to receive
TIPS as payment for product or as a 'tip' ( think micro payment ) for useful content or
as appreciation for content ..

These things cost time and money .. both in short supply !!

Triff ..

awesome thoughts and ideas dear Senator51, creating shares and dividends via projects we build together is I think a very good way to go, and in this fertile new world we have and will have a lots of option such that everything is possible even if we currently don't have these features built in. I will also think about this a little more and I hope in the coming days we will be able to put all our thoughts together and slowly see a clearer picture and the way to go Smiley
But yah also as you said, now is the time to go guys!! gimmi your thoughts!

I totally agree with the id10tothe9 observations. What now seems to be important in "cryptoworld", going on in the area of blockchain applications (e.g. Ripple, Ethereum etc). These works very soon will lead to a new framework for crypto economy (I am afraid, the "cryptonetworks" will become also a gateway for banks and corporations to preserve their dominant role in a new financial market but this is beyond the scope of the discussion). Therefore, the question arises of the future of cryptocurrency. As id10tothe9 wrote, customers are not interested in what currency (cryptocurrency) is in use but rather how much they possess, what they can buy for it, and how a payment system is simple in everyday use  - customers are lazy and waits for the best market offer. Unfortunatelly, no dev team, no single crypto community have the power and resources to "change the word". Most of people will use TIPs (or any other crypto) if the prices in TIPs are lower then in flat - can we achieve this ? - I doubt. Most of people wiil use crypto credit card, live wallets or any smartfon application if they do not need first to care of exchange among many cryptos and crypto-flat, care of security etc. - can we achieve this ? - once again I doubt (maybe Ripple or its competitors will resolve that, maybe something like ANX debit card will be worldwide solution).
On the other hand, blockchain technology offers a lot more features then any flat but these features must have a direct result of the characteristics of the supported services. Let's look at what is happening now. Currently most of developments manifest themself as a race in the area of value (coin) transaction feature, mostly anonymous based. But question is ..... where is the ecosystem for these transactions, what for I need all new black/dark/veri-coins features if there is no REAL cryptoeconomy around them. Should I be afraid when purchasing graphics card, pay a taxi driver,  tip a waiter etc.  and therefore expect fully anonymous transactions ? OK, privacy can be useful in a number of services but not all. First, one shoud define the service (ecosystem) and then, the blockchain (coin, system) feature supporting that service. My feeling is that everything is now ... upside down ;-)
What does this mean for TIPs and our community ? We should concentrate on the sentence, which Id10tothe9 wrote "So I'm thinking we need to define the goals and markets we want to target." That is the point ! We shall ask - when and what for people will need TIPs, what service can use TIPs as a "bloodstream" and the last, fundamental question - whether such a service can bring potentially gain for devs and investors.
If we find such a niche (such a service) than devs (e.g icanprogram and others) help to create a service system, investors (people who invest their TIPs) deliver the "blood" for the functioning of a system. All of involved persons will have shares, everyone will have a share in the eventual failure or success of the project ;-). The devs receive shares (interest) due to their know-how contribution, investors due to their finansial contribution (in TIPs). IMO, it is some new aproach in the "cryptoworld" - devs will have profits ( i think, it is consistent with the icanprogram point of view ), coin holders will have a choice among holding (stacking), speculation and INVESTMENT.
Profits from the service will create value of shares (at least, I hope so). Then we can think about next step, next our innovation ..... the shares market . Maybe then, we will start to investigate how to collaborate with the NXT or any other distributed network/blockchain solution. But ... this time we need to agree on the choice of service and start its development and soon after advertising. I will share my further suggestion as always, it means, very soon ;-)  Any feedback is welcome ... I feel that we have little time to be the first :-)

thanks senator51, awesome to have you on board and waiting for your suggestions!
small thing I wanted to say, thoughts that dawned upon me while taking a walk and thinking about ripple Grin, they had actually a great concept and started with opencoin first which was before bitcoin even, but then had to reinvent themselves and use blockchain technology. now with so many other things coming online like NXT etc, they are again in a position where they need to reinvent themselves but even without a lot of effort what they have is still pretty good, and a new kind of bank in Germany called Fidorbank is going to integrate ripple. so at this point, it's a matter of reaching out to the potential customers and getting those gates integrated and spread in the world in order for the network to do it's job which would be pretty amazing for the banks for example and this is like the hugest industry in money transfer business. so I guess what I'm saying is even with so much competition from other coins, they still can have their chance if they do it right.
I think we are in a similar position with TIPS. We are no longer on the cutting edge of this technology, almost everyday new things are coming out but we are still not that far behind. We can continue developing and evolving and that would be fine, plus what we have to offer is still pretty darn good.

What does a customer want? Almost all potential customers, while all this crazy stuff is going on, still haven't heard of cryptocurrency! If I'd go to a customer, and give him/her a working solution to the problems they have, and I offer pretty darn good service, they would surely be happy and pretty satisfied. customers are lazy, that's why it takes them a while to catch up. they need the companies to market to them, and create services, and offer them a service doing all the job for them for the cheapest possible fee. then they are hooked and honestly wouldn't care if they used bitcoin or TIPS as long as we offer them smooth operation and all the benefits they could get.

So I'm thinking we need to define the goals and markets we want to target. eg. the bonus points that shop owners offer to their customers, ie. gather 10 stamps and you'll get a free haircut, or free sandwich etc. all of them are using that but they are not interchangeable and almost nobody wants to carry 10 cards and stamp cards in their wallets. so this is one of the markets we could target. or take tipping waiters etc, if we go there and give them a good working solution I'm sure they would be sold on it. There are more ideas that we can discuss soon, but I wanted to share these thoughts with you and see what you think..

Also what do you think about the stuff I posted so far on gdrive? I still need some time to finish it, so now I'll kick back now and await your ideas and suggestions and let's see how alive we still are/could become! I'm thinking back to our glorious days where we hit 120lit, and I'm thinking the coming era is going to be legend.. waaaait for iiit... DARY!! gonna be fucking LEGENDARY  Grin Grin Grin

Thanks id10tothe9 and icanprogram for your time devoted to community. Now, most of things seem to be clear. That is the time the community has to react and answer what next - whether we have the power to act or surrender. I'll share my suggestions very soon. Anyway this is the best time to try to create something new so all in our hands :-)

...
or let the development go through icanprogram which he is willing to do
...

Just to clarify, this means that people that want to add features can fork the repository, and I can accept changes into the main codebase.
Practically the same as if I could grant other people access, but it means that I have to 'sign off' on all code before it makes its way into the main codebase.

ok guys, so I talked to icanprogram yesterday for like 1.5 hours and it was a good talk.
As said before, he has no stake in TIPS but poured a lot of time and effort into it because he liked it. The other devs are not really there.

Of the previous devs there is invisible who developed the mixing nodes last thing around April I think, and he was the creator of this coin. I will try (or icanprogram) to contact him and see his position and if he wants to get on board again cuz he seems like a really good developer. icanprogram is also good I believe, he understands the code and the mixing nodes and has walked somebody through doing it from scratch, so I think he's got good abilities and still has passion for this coin. but he does not want to be in a leading position, and if his time spent on developing is not compensated for then he can't be doing a lot here which I think is totally understandable and I think those who do work must get rewarded for that and we need to discuss this as a community. So we need new developers, and we can have icanprogram on board and will see about invisible. don't know about the rest, we have to look into it and maybe discuss if we want them at all since they kinda abandoned this project already and we need somebody who can do a better job.

icanprogram has the keys to almost everything, meaning:
- logins for all social media accounts for Fedoracoin, including BCT
- Fargusson was managing them but now he is leaving end of July
- fedoraco.in, so the official site and the files subdomain where we host the bnaries
- push access to the github repositories for the fedoracoin source and for the fedoraco.in wbesite source, but he can't grant people access. (we can probably get the keys from invisible, or let the development go through icanprogram which he is willing to do)
- the mixing node
- he doesn't have the private key that allows new nodes to join the network But we could change that key in the source , meaning that in effect, we can control it
- he also doesn't have the source for the mixing nodes themselve, but it's relatively straightforward (he talked someone through developing a new version from scratch before)

he will be back in a week and we can have other meetings with more of you guys to make our plans.

so with that we can basically have total control of the code and everything, and eventually we could get the github total access key from invisible, and at least we can still do anything we want and only need icanprogram to ok the modifications. and he is very willing to do so. he already put a lot of time into this coin, that's why he didn't want to leave it and would still help out. but without getting rewarded he cannot put a lot of his time into it. Which anyway makes sense and I think we would all agree that those who are contributing should get rewarded somehow.

So I suggested that we find a solution to that, and find a way that he and other devs gets rewarded, either through a developer fund, or getting rewarded by bounties for each task, or somehow get a big stake, and also to create businesses with TIPS which is something for all of us because all of us can take up rolls in projects and businesses, from investing to programming to media, and I like this prospect the most. But I also think we have to find a way to reward developers anyway if we want TIPS to succeed right? and I don't think it should be difficult to do, let's discuss this here as a community.

So that's the state of the matter, and in conclusion we have everything in our hands now. Now the question is what do we do next! I think we have a great chance here, to reorganize and do everything right. I'm trying now to write down a draft of how things can be done and how to organize. You can see everything I write on gdrive on the link I supplied and also help me there by editing and commenting, and I will make a post when I'm finished. let me know what you think and I hope we can get somewhere interesting with this!

Cheers!
