yep, all that is very exciting and theose are exciting problems that need to be solved in order to build those services, ie. we need to have those projects going with developers working on them, ideally they would be excited themselves about it and wanting to see the projects finished. So instead of hiring somebody for short term payments and telling them exactly what to do, I would rather go for models where the devs get rewarded in the long run by being part of the final product, like we build a team and make a business out of the idea and we have gains if we were successful in the end.
I think for the question of short names linked to the public addresses we probably could learn from Bitshares who I think created exactly that using Bitcoin last year.
Maybe we could try to make a business out of this physical TiPS idea by providing the services and for that taking a percentage of the tips like I suggested in the proposal, what do you think?
Great, this is a good step towards even better community if done as you said.

Tired of watching, and only watching, the FIFA World cup on your TV? You sure knew that Costa Rica was going to beat Uruguay to the punch?

So FedoraBets is for you!

FedoraBets is a simple game by FedoraCoin's team which allows you to bet on your favourite team victory using TiPS.

You will find all the rules here.

I had the same idea last night and was about to post it here, good you have already thought this out and made something out of it.

Fargusson, about NXT, we were talking about finding a way for users to send TiPS to short names instead of a long public key or using QR. NXT was a suggestion since you can use it to define an alias, ie, you enter "nxt:what-ever-name-you-chose" and it automatically connects you to the substitute you defined which could be a website, or the public key of your FedoraCoin wallet or whatever you want. it seems to be an easy thing to implement that's why I suggested it.

AWESOME!
Yeah, Karma Coin has a World Cup betting pool going and a few investors have also talked about a NON-USA based sports betting website to use Karma exclusively.
Would love something like this for TIPS, or a joint effort possibly with Karma if there was a coder that wanted to take up and run with the idea and we investors here at TIPS agreed upon it.

Keep voting over at coinwarz to include TIPS in their most profitable coins to mine list please.

The thing is that we asked Multipool to unlist FedoraCoin from their Multiport. With TiPS being the most profitable scrypt coin to mine, we were Under a lot of pressure with the massive dump from Multipool.us. Adam, the mod, kindly accepted to do so, that's why FedoraCoin aren't on Multiport anymore.

Brilliant, months ago someone said there was one pool dumping huge amounts of tips that was keeping the price down. The price might start to rise again now.

Done !  Smiley

Go tips, go !

By the way, I still am convinced that Tips will be one of the alts that will brilliantly shine during the upcoming bitcoin rally.

It will shine like a sparkling white light, stabbing forth like a radiant white flame amidst the darkness and despair that are the regular pump&dump coins out there.

for the problem of identities instead of the long address I see we could also use the alias system of NXT: http://wiki.nxtcrypto.org/wiki/Alias_System

maybe over some service we allow people to create an alias on the NXT network and assign their FedoraCoin public key to it, and the FedoraCoin wallet would get the ability to use that system. It seems to be easy to integrate since it can be installed on the browser.

I don't know. Don't like too much the idea of being dependent of another crypto network or tools... Anyway we can bring something FedoraCoin genuine? Is the code opensource?

Yah NXT is open source!

So anyway we can get their source code to implement our own... Wait, you lost me... What is this thing all about? An online wallet right?

So I was weighing up whether it was worth mining or buying TIPS to increase my holding from miniscule to tiny.. and noticed that the front post could do with some major cleanup.

Can someone who reads this update the first post?  icanprogram? fargusson?

Here's the working pools in the list:

http://fedora.pcfil.com/
http://chickenstrips.net/
http://fedora.coin-pool.org/
https://www.multipool.us/  (TIPS not enabled on multiport any more - not sure if TIPS are mineable here?)
https://www.cryptopoolmining.com/tips/
https://tips.pool.enterprises/
https://coinking.io/

And these look like they're no longer around:

http://tips.notnull.org/
http://www.verters.com/mvpool/fedoracoin
https://minr.es/
http://tips.4upool.com/
http://coinminer.net:19988/static/
http://cloud.epools.eu/tips/
http://tips.dnsbl.ro/

Current network hashrate is around 435MHs, so its currently cheaper to just buy TIPS on market than mine it with a rental rig, if the goal is to accumulate TIPS Smiley

I'm gonna do it right away! Thanks a lot for your feedback.

EDIT: Done! By the way, I didn't your qestion up there about Multipool.us.

Adam, the mod, kindly accepted to do so, that's why FedoraCoin aren't on Multiport anymore. Nonetheless you can mine it using the dedicated port.

By the way, for people interesting in supporting TiPStarter, show some support over here!

And don't forget to vote for FedoraCoin here!
