Project proposition:

I very often get coupons from pharmacies when I buy stuff there, it seems to have become a norm recently, even supermarkets have long had their bonus cards or stamps with the basic idea that you can use those bonuses in your later purchases as an incentive for you to visit again.

I would like them to use FedoraCoin to accomplish that. I can try it right away in the pharmacy nearby where I think they might like the idea. with simple actions like this, if we the community start doing that, the word will spread locally (but around the world) about this new technology and we would be the first to offer this service and thus we ensure FedoraCoin to be the first and thus use the network effect to dominate this market.

How do we do that? I need your thoughts and ideas and help!

Suggestion: I'll talk to the pharmacy people, as well as my favourite imbiss. There will be two different applications.
1. I will offer them to send them 1000000 TiPS or whatever, and they would give out TiPS to their customers. The customers can always later use their TiPS with their value at the time to purchase products from the shop. (I think the local imbiss would be willing to accept TiPS as payment if I show him how to exchange for fiat again). The cool thing about this is with the initial 1 million TiPS, when the price increases later this year by a 100 or maybe 1000 fold hopefully, on one hand customers will be able to purchase stuff even though they got very little value initially, and on the other it will show both the customers and the shop owners the power of cryptocurrency and increase their interest.
2. I will teach the shop owner how to make a paper wallet and use it etc, and let them put a QR code that they accept FedoraCoin, with the incentive that I will be tipping them each time I visit and that with time more people will be tipping them and it's free money for them with potential value increase.

Now anybody of you who thinks this through will notice it's not a trivial process, at least it's not for me. I won't elaborate on this for now, cuz I'm not even sure what to ask. so instead I would like you people to offer your thoughts and maybe you can tell me what steps I need to take for each of these propositions.

(Also in the local supermarket they even sell cards which have bonus on them for different kinds of uses, so you can give it as a gift. For that we could eg offer paper wallets or even just sell them as products there!)
(another side note, people who want to do this could get funds from the community and in exchange they publish photos of the local shop with the QR code etc which would be an additional free advertisement for the shop and maybe free tips from internet users, the photos could be published on a special website for that purpose.)

Hi guys.

I've send an email to the devs right before I wrote this post, talking about the forum and the coin mixer nodes. I'll keep you in touch ASAP.

I like the idea of a Fedoracoin crowfunding. The best idea would be to create a dedicated website. Something simple at first. Just the fund address, and a line showing how much have been donated (by looking at fedorachain for example). And maybe a list of ongoing projects. Just raw ideas here...

Sorry for the short mail, my head is a bit under water right now.

But go Fedora !

P.s: Have you voted for TiPS on Coinwarz?

This is great! keep us updated and already voted for TiPS on Coinwarz!
keep up the good work!! Go Fedora!!!

Awesome work on the TIPS tipping group on facebook. I ask these questions so that we all can get a better idea how our group has grown.
Also, have you any involvement at all in the MultiCoin Tipping App used on Facebook in which TIPS is a part of?
Sorry, I personally moved away from facebook years ago, yet full well understand pretty much everyone else and their dog spot spends an inordinate amount of time over there.

Worldcoin has always had a great community that was the envy of the crypto world...very much so several months back when it became a priority of theirs. Solid ideas as well as you outlined. Sounds interesting what you have planned later this year for TIPS. You're the guy to swing it as you have pretty much single handedly created and run the Facebook Tipping Group!

I'll let you know when I send you some TIPS for tipping over in your Facebook group. Please continue to expand the group and the concept you created (Tips For Tips) as I see it growing exponentially if cared for.

thanks man! actually yes the group is in the MultiCoin Tipping App, I created it for that purpose, if I understand your question correctly. There are two apps, the original which is for doge only (as I took from your article quotation Tongue) I never used it, and the multicoin tipping app. There we joined like three months ago, and there is another group for FedoraCoin with I think like 500 something members. currently tipping is going on in the group, and the cool thing if you have a friend who is not a member, you can still tag him in a post there or a comment and send him TiPS.

Actually even though I think facebook kinda sucks, it's the best around there and the network effect is just awesome even if the page sucks. by following groups of news you care about, eg. developments in technologies you could see the newest things going on and honestly I get my mind blown every time I open my feed page. and I think most of those joining the group are new to facebook and are in it just for the cryptocurrency because it shows they joined like a month ago or something. so actually facebook maybe is getting the boost they always wanted for free..

About worldcoin, I've been actually again and again amazed by some awesome members we have here on fedoracoin and their contributions and works and I think we have just as much potential to build an awesome active community, but the platforms we have now don't help and the earlier activities just died out.
So again, Fargusson, please talk to icanprogram to see if he plans to open the forum again and if he needs help maybe some members here can jump in, also if it needs funding and has costs we could start a funding wallet for that project and always donate to it. but we need that! if it's not working then let us know and somebody else could build a new one and be responsible for it, I understand that one man alone cannot be doing all the work but this is why the community is there and we could do it together. but we need to communicate.

I really hope we can make FedoraCoin very successful and we have a lot of potential, I hope this year already we'll be in a very good place!

uh, if you meant whether I contributed to developing the tipping app on facebook no I didn't Tongue
(and maybe you could join facebook again and join the group and help leading the new revolution there  Grin)

hm sorry I guess it's my english not sure what concise synopsis meant but I'll try, if you need any further details just ask again  Grin

I tried now to find out the transactions, but it seems the address used in the app is internal and can't see it on the fedoracha.in, and the info given in the app definitely does not cover all the time since the beginning. I'm not sure whether I made a deposit at all or all the TiPS I had were from donations when I first joined the other groups!
but the sum of outgoing TiPS is about 160000 TiPS, and currently I still have about 200000 in my balance! I received once a generous 200000 TIPS from somebody who was into mining and just started mining FedoraCoin I think and maybe had some questions about it. so if I made a deposit it sure wasn't more than 100000 TiPS.
Also of interest I had 307 TiPS coming in, that is raindrops in this group and others, or TiPS from generous members. And I have 717 TiPS going out, most of them given in this group. I was in the beginning giving out raindrops, but then decided to make less of that since there is nothing interesting behind it, and am trying to give TiPS out to useful discussions, questions or tips in order to guide the group and get to where I want it.
We are the 9th group to join, so we were from the early birds. Fedoracoin group was the second to join!

Currently we have 266 members, the rate of members joining has definitely increased in the last month. But I see the multicoin tipping group (which is the main one I guess) has 993 members and they seem to have more posting, so I guess any kind of new activity in our group would be useful to get people more excited.

about the inception, I think the idea came to me when jtbraine made a reddit post saying something like tips for tips, also there is another subreddit called tips4tricks. I created the group first of April it seems from my reddit post http://www.reddit.com/r/FedoraCoin/comments/21xwgk/tips4tips_on_facebook_ask_the_community_for_tips/
but had made a similar suggestion for a youtube channel in 19th March but got no useful action from it http://www.reddit.com/r/FedoraCoin/comments/20sunb/tips4tips_youtube_channel_twitter_account/
Also I put jtbraine as an admin there, but I just saw he's gone hehe, I guess he isn't a facebook guy. but the cool photo of the group was made by him!

Also not sure how much time I spend per week, I respond to each post there and when I get to it try to start a tipping initiative like giving out prizes to the best 3 questions of the day etc. I'd say 1 to two hours per week. but again, I'd prefer we had much more activity and I would appreciate new admins who can help starting new initiatives and coming up with good ideas.

Actually I think I have a nice business idea around this concept and would like to pursue it further when I'm done with my study this year and if I see it would make sense! Potential business partners are welcome Tongue

I did not run the gridseed initiative, but I the person who did that also made some nice post on the group some time ago.

Finally on a side note, I really envy the worldcoin community because they have this wonderful forum and the community is able to create projects on their own and marketing and all that a coin needs. They even have a weekly summary from a committee to list the progress and plans for the coin, they post it in a thread and community gets to talk around it. Fargusson maybe you can bring this up again with the devs? I know icanprogram was working on reactivating the old group, but I haven't heard again from him. take a look at their forum here: http://worldcoinforum.org/ and also the https://nxtforum.org/ where they have a special section for projects and anybody who has a project can get a subsection with their own threads and interested people can focus on this project and work together! I think this is what an active community needs to be able to lift up the coin.
comparing that to the reddit and this one thread forum we have, I don't see much more can happen for FedoraCoin in the future this way!

ps. we are far ahead of the other coins on coinwarz which I find amazing especially with the very low activity I've been seeing in the community lately.

TIPS has been in the number 3 and 2 positions for weeks now, we are #1 finally. Anyone want to throw me a bone and pitch in? Been at this for weeks.

http://www.coinwarz.com/voting

Plain and simple, it's an excellent means of advertising TIPS to mining parties that may have not heard of it before or overlooked it. Unequivocally, they'll be taking a second look at it again. Can we team up on this? Leave the page open and click on it every hour.

id10tothe9, thanks.
I was asking if you could give us a bit more info on the facebook tips for tips concept?
A concise synopsis of how many tips you have given away, are they from your personal coin stash, how many members this groups has, when was its inception and how much time approximately you spend on it each week? Have others donated to you to so that you can continue tipping? Are people new to the group asking you how to download and use a TIPS online wallet because they are new to the concept?

Also, are you the individual that ran the gridseed contestS? I noticed metaphyx showed up for that and then has ran off. lol

Speaking of which, every coin needs a video rookies can be directed to every day, all day any day that holds a neophyte's hand to confidently get them to download, install and USE a cryptocurrency wallet. Without it, we can't get past "go!". Sure sure, they are all over youtube. Go it. But every coin's wallet has its individual quirks that may throw off the uninitiated. This can be said for any coin.

Also, hercules1600 now posts more over at reddit, but I believe is pretty sick this last 2 weeks. But he used to post here ALOT and has been very helpful!! So, I am NOT referring to him with the following thoughts I've been kicking around in my head.

What is it with reddit.com. Is that like the cool place to be or something. I mean, pretty much 95% of digital currencies make their debut and garner a great deal of support and investment RIGHT HERE at bitcointalk.org. And threads on this website oftentimes outrank reddit.com, etc in the search engine results pages when prospective investors go to learn about any/specific crypto coins. And yet, some top level people want to move management over to reddit? Hmm.
What's that? We want to "diversify" our exposure? Facebook, twitter, etc. Got it. Diversification and new audience growth. Excellent. Not to mention each coin creating their own website ecosystem. Smart. BUT, we see it time and time again in coins that struggle. Want a secret sauce ingredient to create a slight to a bit less slight downturn in the interest of your coin? Just let your hair down and allow your bitcointalk.org to bite the dust and you'll get the ball rolling in the right direction.

If you sell a product or service, but all means let it be known you will accept TIPS. If you run a business of any type, please let it be known you will accept donations for extra hard work and commitment to your clients satisfaction. If it can't be for payment, cool. But maybe it can just be as a "Tip" as a little thank you out of appreciation for your client centered focus. Even if you were NEVER to receive a single tip coin in the life of your business, by informing your specially easy. clientele you accept TIPS, that is just smart marketing. If you have a website, it's especially easy to swing.

hey Fargusson, great to see you back! spam us all you like  Grin
so what is going on on the devs side? what work is being done, any future plans etc?
as for the mixing service I was asking whether the fee can be reduced and probably this way users would be encouraged to use it more often or even keep it ticked all the time. More users will generate more profits to the nodes even with a lower fee. You think it's worth considering, maybe you can discuss it with the devs?

Mouseman your posts are so great and give me more enthusiasm and more hope in the future of this coin, that's what we need, let's bring this community back together and get it active not just waiting!

about the facebook group, here is the address: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1478427829039015/
it's called TiPS4tips, and the idea for the group is to be a place for exchanging ideas and tips and in return exchange TiPS as an appreciation. If somebody want to know more about something they can ask questions (ask for tips about a topic), and when people answer they can send them FedoraCoins in appreciation.
I'm not sure how much I have given out, I try to encourage people with prizes for best tips or questions of the week etc, activity is moderate but I think it's been increasing recently and we are always getting more members. I think also a little help from volunteers who can bring new ideas and prizes to encourage the people to use the group would be great, I can appoint new admins if somebody is interested in helping out.
uh and about the question, I don't really get a lot of questions about using the wallet etc. I think I got like only 2-3. I put the important links to the information in the description of the group but not sure a lot of people have read that, and not sure how to educate people more about it. (I don't have much time either to spend there..)

Sorry to spam you guys tonight, but I was away for quite a long time... Well, much more a couple of days, but you guys are so chatty Wink

I will try to answer to some of the question mouseman asked.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-tips-kimotos-gravity-well-world-first-coin-anonymizer-launched-391192
This is the TIPS previous thread as many know. A bit of a problem as you can quickly view that btctalk members continue to post over there and needless to say it continues to rank well in the search engines which bleeds off traffic to THIS current thread.

Another member mentioned Invisibel "holding the keys" when the community wanted to take a bit more control of TIPS. That may have included ACCESS to the first page of the old thread coin launch(?)

Compounding things is that when Invisibel first announced/launched the anonymous coin mixing feature he created a separate thread to do that and that also confuses things a bit (not a biggie):
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-world-first-tips-built-in-coin-mixinganonymity-service-just-launched-471660

Who has the keys to the TIPS website?
http://fedoraco.in/

Effectively, invisibel went out forgetting to give us the passwaord of his bitcointalk account (which might be understandable as he used it for other purposes than TiPS). We are though unable to delete the old post, which pops up regularly on Google. This is a pity, but we are powerless here. I try to go there once in a while and post something if some people got lost. That way there is always some fresh advertizing for the new thread on the old one if needed.

icanprogram has total access to http://fedoraco.in

Which leads me up to why some left the TIPS community. I believe it was the insistence of algo change and coin float reduction as well as other smaller changes to the coin algorithm that some wanted to stay competitive. If you all recall, there have been some folk that wanted ZERO changes to the coin as they voiced it would be unfair to make changes to a coins parameters that investors thought were fundamentally sound and unchaneable and they thought sound enough to invest in. While others wanted major changes that included stopping any further POW mining and maintaining the absolute float ceiling where we were at that time (can't remember..something like 90 billion). Or possibly moving to Proof-of-stake and other algo changes that requires had forks, etc etc and the implications of that. All that arguing broke this growing community up a bit.

You're right, and the opinion of the dev team was to leave the coin alone. All the concept of TiPS is: high-volume, high-volume and high-volume (besides of other cool features). Because we wanted Fedoracoin (and not a 1/100000° of it) to be used as a tipping unit, and to have some space to grow for further use. Regarding the algo matter, we thought that ASIC's were a chance, not a danger. Mining power is mining power, and the important isn't the gun but the people holding it (thus being said regardless of all politic opinion on gun control). That's why we decided to stay the way we are now.

The lead dev now is "icanprogram" on TIPS. It seems because the multiple reddit.com threads are significantly more active there than here, he seems to spend 99% of his time there. Fargasson has kinda been in charge of btctalk, but personally I do not suggest lead devs walk away from posting and updating btctalk website. I believe it is their RESPONSIBILITY to keep investors in the coding loop. He has said he is reverse engineering Invisibel's anonymous mixing code so as to more easily make adjustments I would assume. However has not updated us at all in that endeavour (frustrating).

I hope to hear from icanprogram here very soon or would like to place another option on the table to consider.

icanprogram made some apparitions here from time to time. My current position, if we can call it that way, in the TiPS team is community manager. I deal with BitcoinTalk, Reddit but also with Fedoracoin's Twitter and Google+ accounts. I'm supposed to be here as a link between the devs and the community (but also between all the sides of the community) for daily matters. You sure can ask question to me , I'll try to answer and ask the devs. Or the devs will come here and answer themselves if they have time to do so.
Saying that I don't understand what coding work you're talking about?
Don't forget that we are all volunteer here, and trying to make this coin live is a great pleasure but also a time-eater. And we sometimes lack of time.

The Facebook MultiCoin Tipping App WILL bring new investors into TIPS, but not at all the ADOPTION we envisioned for this crypto.
That said, let's go with id10tothe9 (member in this thread) and send him some TIPS so that he can continue tipping people on his cool Facebook page.
id10tothe9 please link us there again as well as give us a concise synopsis how people earn TIPS there and how many TIPS you think you have sent out to date approximately? Do you get alot of questions how to download the TIPS wallet from Facebookers?

You're right, Multicoin tipping app on Facebook is great. Don't forget that we also have a Twitter tipping bot (@tipfedora) which is a great way to spread the word too. We can organize a giveaway here too using the official Fedoracoin account if you guys want to.
I offered 10000 TiPS to each new follower until we reached 500, but this was taking me too many time. By the way we have now more than 650 followers!!

No 'mixing' if everyone's coins are just sitting in their wallets ..
Indicates to me that no one is actually 'using' this coin ..
The 'mixing' feature works .. Just need volume in transactions ..

Triff ..

current mixing node was offline, I've test it several times.

I agree with Triff on this point. I think the nodes are working, but there are only a few people trying to use them, making the mixing impossible as it requires several anonymous payment made slightly at the same time.

I think that's why you got this error message, which doesn't mean that the mixer isn't properly working (it worked back in March).

Darkvenu has been apart of the TIPS team and sometimes post over in the Italian section:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.7488482

hercules1600
Is a part of the TIPS team and spends almost all of his time recently posting over at reddit.com and has created the World of TIPS website:
http://worldof.tips/

Fagusson as a part of team TIPS and has been very committed over time without waver. You see him comment here all the time and was apart of the gridseed giveaways along with another team member on reddit that doesnt post here. I think his moniker is "tips4hat" (?). He deserves further recognition for running those gridseed miner equipment giveaways!!

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.7605393

Which leads me to:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-tips-kimotos-gravity-well-world-first-coin-anonymizer-launched-391192

Who has the keys to the TIPS website?
http://fedoraco.in/

withfedoraco.in is a TIPS member invested quite a bit of time in his TIPS (only! well, I think btc/ltc also) payment app:
https://pay.withfedoraco.in/
Yes, yet another orphaned TIPS announcement thread to divert traffic and prospective investors further:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/payment-platform-for-fedoracoin-coming-395995

However withfedoraco.in has not be active on this forum for a few months. I know people use this with some degree of success awhile back, can anyone comment on using it? I corresponded with the dev on this TIPS payment platform if he was going to build this out for other coins or sync with them and he said he was simply focusing exclusively on TIPS when building it.

Giong back to the TIPS community takeover referenced by Triffin, the member "theking7426" headed that up for those desiring a history lesson. Although he created a formal new ANN thread, he was pushing for this and leading the charge before the following thread was created by him/her:

 https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/annfedoracoin-the-community-is-taking-over-main-415633
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.4801959
(yup, more TIPS ANN thread)

"theking7426" took over the community as the lead manager after we all realized Invisibel had left (due to his identity being threatened to be revealed which he didn't want)
https://pay.reddit.com/r/FedoraCoin/comments/1w677v/sync_issues_extreme_growth_loss_of_anonymity_and/

At any rate, theking7426 was a very motivating community spark plug that hit the ground running on day one and without coffee. Question is, why did he leave when Invisibel came back(?) Again, ancient history but I would try to contact him as we was very helpful like Fargusson here has been. Send him a pm please, never hurts.

Spilled milk? Yes

Sour grapes? Yes and no.

I believe TIPS had "it" late last year and early this year with the withfedoraco.in payment system on the business side of things, new anonymous mixer coming out of beta (earliest coin I believe / b4 Darkcoin), and a dev with ideas and leadership skills (while he was here) and a solid community base, etc. With momentum like that so early at that time, it's a wonder we are where we are. And yep, I also even like the large billionS coin float TIPS has. Makes being generous alot more fun.

Just an aside. If you wanted to look through the chain for any reason:
http://fedoracha.in/chain/FedoraCoin

The Facebook MultiCoin Tipping App WILL bring new investors into TIPS, but not at all the ADOPTION we envisioned for this crypto.
That said, let's go with id10tothe9 (member in this thread) and send him some TIPS so that he can continue tipping people on his cool Facebook page.
id10tothe9 please link us there again as well as give us a concise synopsis how people earn TIPS there and how many TIPS you think you have sent out to date approximately? Do you get alot of questions how to download the TIPS wallet from Facebookers?

fedora had nice features, but developers were totally unorganized, and with few resources. reddcoin was better managed. they have funds and are keeping it alive around 1M market cap. come on... this puppy has 100k market cap, can't believe the devs don't have the equivalent to buy almost all of it at these prices and start squeezing it to attract interest (that's what always happens when coins rally, it's the devs stupid!). no rally.. no interest.
