$GEO was recently added to Chainplay.gg!  GeoCoin is a #PlayToEarn blockchain game hosted on #Ubiq.  Come check out GeoCoin and tons of other cool blockchain games!

https://chainplay.gg/games/geocoin/

Kind of funny that website calls it "Geocoin NFT Game" but maybe that is a positive spin. GEO is a coin that could evolve in a lot of directions and the 'nft' concept seems like one of the least important.

One possible suggestion to raise awareness would be instead of dropping coins where they should be maybe drop them where they shouldn't be.

100 GEO in the whitehouse bathroom or in the conference room of an unpopular corporation or some other place a person has to use cleverness to visit might raise awareness.

Hi, I'm Looking to withdraw geocoin from bittrex I have downloaded the fusion wallet fully synced with peers, but I don't see any wallet details I see a small icon on the top right representing the main account (etherbase) and that's it.

I don't seem to see the contracts > watch token steps mentioned on the website.

I only see the ubiq webpage and a search icon on the left some help would be appreciated thanks.

First video in the new series, the GeoCoiners guide to Ubiq!  This video discusses the different Exchanges and DEXs that offer Ubiq and GeoCoin markets.
GeoCoiners are encouraged to buy some $UBQ to gain access to the greater ecosystem.

I'm also open to other ideas for marketing.

Some things which differentiate GEO from most other coins, and which marketing should start with

1) Geocoin is built by a group of people based on a real world hobby which pre exists digital currency. You and most of the Geocoin crew were geocaching before you were coining probably.

2) Geocaching is a ground up coin activity, its most productive user is 'anybody'. The opposite of smart contract and other coins which are designed to create a top heavy core of elite managers who will control other coin users.

The next generation of generic 'coin type' is probably going to be some kind of 'local network fork' which allows small groups to make their own coins, sort of like btc>btc+bch+bsv etc.

The weakness in this model so far may be that the original coins are overmonetized in the new coins. BCH creators had to give a huge part of their coin supply to btc holders etc. This was necessary in bch because bch had no real core group behind it, there was no real reason to change btc to bch except trivial techno nonsense which nobody really is interested in.

A solution is to create the facility for anybody with no techno skills to fork Geo and create a new coin w/ a new genesis block and a new coin supply starting from zero, but potentially with whatever benefits could come from network connections to the original coin.

This is more in the spirit of a better economy, not trying to constantly extract profit from every step as most coins do, and would not directly benefit the main geo chain except that it would make GEO a better quality coin.

Yea glad to be back!  I think this video series could help draw some new attention, but I'm also open to other ideas for marketing.

Glad weifa is back.

Somebody needs to come up with an idea to market Geocoin. It's one of the few coins that has a strong potential appeal to the mainstream.

Hey folks, sorry for the delay.  I'm still working on the GeoCoin project and moving things forward.  This past few years has proved to be quite challenging due to my full time work and helping my family through the pandemic, but now that things are getting more back to normal I'm having more availability for GEO developments!

Check out this map of all the beta testers around the world, the project has reached across many continents and countries.  Not all of these users are familiar with the larger Ubiq ecosystem so I'm planning a series of videos to help explain all that Ubiq has to offer GeoCoiners.

In terms of source code, we are not an open-source project.  Once we have the wallet backend fully up and running that will essentially be the full "launch".  I've still got lots of learning ahead of me and will be relying on additional pro's in the Ubiq network to help get us there.

I'm not sure what's going on with messages being deleted from this thread.  I've experienced that as well myself in the past where an admin felt my message was not relevant, hopefully that does not continue to happen here.  For those who want to stay more active in the community and GeoCoin development conversation, I recommend you follow us on Twitter and join us in the #geo channel of Ubiq Discord: https://discord.com/invite/XaqzJB4

what do you think about:

https://www.ovr.ai/

(they also have a treasure hunt)- https://www.ovr.ai/treasure-hunt/

this could be a competitor? It is not perfectly the same but somehow similar and it looks quite advanced

Thanks. I will have a look at it. Combine AR, Geo with Blockchain

Hi,

Very interesting project. I just watch on Youtube "Blockchain Gaming Expo at CoinFest Vancouver 2019 - GeoCoin"
three questions:
1) Is the Team still working on it?
2) Where I can see the source Code-Github?
3) Who is the competitor?

Thanks,
Sam

That video could use a better recording system, hard to hear in some places.

I'm not connected to the dev team but here are my best guesses.

1) They seem to be still active as of a few days ago. You can contact the main dev on Twitter.

2a) It looks like they use ubq for their wallet and the github link from the website is https://github.com/ubiq/fusion/releases

2b) The geocaching app is still in closed beta, so you would probably have to sign up to get a download link. Dave is a public figure and known to a lot of people, it's a safe app https://geo.money/getting-started

2c) Hopefully they will integrate the wallet and geocaching part into one app when it is out of beta. If you are a developer you could probably contact them if you want to help.

3) a) A few years ago there was a Chinese coin very similar to Geo but it had never developed as far as Geo has to the best of my knowledge. The coin was mentioned on this thread if you want to research it.

b) Pokemon go was also a similar project but does not have a currency as far as I know https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Go

c) There are various projects being developed which touch on using gis type stuff for various uses, including this project https://foam.space/ which tries to address spoofing and might be worth looking into as a solution to geospoofing issues

This really is one of the all time great coins so far, it just needs some interest from the public.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.
Yes, I agree it's a great project.
https://github.com/ubiq/fusion/releases: is just the wallet developed by ubiq. Correct? Any other source Code?

Thanks again

I replied to his post from the 22nd of last month, I saw it as well. He said he liked the idea of Elemental GEOs and the future of the project. My quote of his post was also deleted, absolutely bizarre as I've never seen it happen on this thread in the past few years.

On an unmoderated thread like this, the only people other than you who can delete your post are bitcointalk moderators, and they would send you a message saying "We had to delete your post. Please stop violating policies. etc"

~

There are many ways to fix the geospoofing issue which seems to be holding GEO down.

One way which would partially fix that and several other issues at once is adding the option to require a password to collect a coin from the map. A group which wants to use GEO for something, a promotional event or whatever, could distribute the password to their members only, so only they could collect the coins they drop.

A step better would be to just attach an optional question and answer field to each coin on the map.
Question "Standing at the correct coordinates, look west 20 meters. There is a mailbox. What are the first three letters on the mailbox?"
Or "Southwest 10 meters is a large tree. What kind of tree?"
Or whatever

Another option which will become available if GEO picks up enough is to rent space on satellites and require that a person's wallets ping the correct satellites. Satellite launch companies are proliferating rapidly, and some shared services are available on some satellite systems. It would probably cost a few hundred thousand usd to cover most populated areas now, but soon it will be a lot cheaper. When the cost to deploy a proprietary system to verify a phones coordinates publicly is very affordable then devs can sell enough to pay for that. It would be a step away from decentralization initially, but when the cost to verify is very low, probably within a few years, any person or group can add their own anti geospoofing module or even their own hard fork.

There are lots of other fixes too.

I'm not looking for a debate, I'm telling you that is what happened. My post got deleted as well. I did get a message for it being "off-topic" dumbest thing ever.
