I can't convince you about masternodes, whether that is soon, or in the distant future, but it allows to have a few things which are usually a feature of many masternodes:

1. They can confirm transactions or "reserve" them for inclusion in the blockchain. Usually called something like InstantSend or SwiftTx
2. They can coordinate built in obfuscation either with some form of CoinJoin or Zerocoin protocols.
3. They usually require collateral, which locks in the funds, generally off the market and can affect price, usually upwards pressure. (Not always.)
4. They allow decentralized automatic voting on budget funding for just about anything, if this feature is activated.
5. You can combine two features to make transactions both instant and private.
6. These masternodes are almost always online. So you'll have at least that many full nodes working to secure the network and relaying transactions.

The budget system is a method for allocating funds from the Guncoin blockchain's block rewards to projects that support the Guncoin network.

So, for example, we (the masternode owners) could vote for proposals, such as paying Salaries to the Guncoin Core Team. Usually, that's a good idea. Others could be marketing initiatives. Owners can vote to fund projects such as a superbowl advertisment (this is an inside joke of Dash) or vote changes in the system like block size increases (again Dash) but we might not need those things considering we have 2 minute block times already.

The budget system and masternode governance isn't a democracy. Since only the masternode owners can vote, you need to have GUN to vote. Since you need to be a significant investor, you are naturally incentivized to work for the good of the project.

It's also very expensive to try to force a Yes or No vote because that would require one person or group to have a lot of masternodes. If "they" do have the resources, it would be in their best interest to keep the network healthy and to make the charts go to the moon.

There are several site listings similar to coin market cap, that exclusively list only masternode coins.
https://masternodes.online/
https://masternodes.pro/
http://www.mnrank.com/

So, there are like 90 coins that have masternodes (maybe 60 of them are garbage). That's like saying there are 2000 altcoins and tokens, but 1800 of them are garbage too.

Anyway, something to think about. There's also no rush. It just seems to be a trend these days that I noticed.

If it's not masternodes, it's forgers or witnesses, and those have crazy 3 second block times. (and it works too, so awesome.)

Again, no rush. Two quarters. Two years.

My 1911 was invented more than a hundred years ago. It's still one of the best defensive and portable firearms out there.

My understanding is that masternodes can help to facilitate anonymous transactions (in addition to other things potentially). Whether or not they offer any improvement to anonymous capabilities beyond what is already there with Guncoin I have no idea.

You are correct, but that are other ways to invoke anonymity besides master nodes.  And we are researching them and determining how best they fit in with the Guncoin framework.  Additionally, the current available source code for masternodes comes from Dash and is not really a good match with what he we have going.  But like damn315er said, we are on a solid path for GUN to provide exactly what the firearms community needs and will likely be able to us.  Most of them are not crypto savvy.  All that being said, masternodes in the future could be a serious option for us if the source code we draw from expands to cover a compatible version. But probably not in the next two quarters for sure, I plate is pretty full for then.....

OK, I gotta admit, I've been beating everyone up about the online and mobile wallets. (mostly online wallets)

Looking at the target demographic for Guncoin, it's people trading firearms.  People that buy firearms, people that sell them, and people that use them buying ammo and parts.  (yes I own a few, they are f***ing addicting)

What is the common denominator?  They are proficient in firearms, not cryptocurrency.

How do you get them to use crypto?  Make it secure, make it easy, and make it better than what's already out there used to trade them.. (charging high rates up to 25%)

What does the online wallet and lightning network do?  It makes it easy.

What do all the other additions to the wallets do?  Make it secure for miners, traders, and users.

Why a mobile wallet?  Gun shows and POS (point of sale) devices.

Is Guncoin geared toward usability in its target demographic?  ABSOLUTELY!!  (without that, nothing else matters)

Is Guncoin geared toward investors?  Yes, in that it's geared for success in its target demographic. (mine it, buy it, don't count on coin for free)

And maybe someday masternodes, if they make sense.. (I'm claiming #1 right now..)

OK, in regards to our path forward, I will try my best to lay things out and am happy to entertain any questions or discussions.

1) We should all be running GUN V1.3 or GUN V1.3.1 currently. For it, all appears to be working very well with no issues. FYI, this release mirrors the bitcoin core 0.10.x releases and changes the block version to 4 on block height 840,000. That is what the hard fork is for that will occur in a few days. Since the vast majority of our users are no longer on V1.1, we expect no issues as a result of that.

2) GUN V1.4 is complete and fully tested. This release includes the bitcoin core 0.11.x - 0.13 code for GUN and moves GUN significantly ahead of many other coins out there and opens the door to Lightning Network compatibility that you may or should read about.  Additionally, within this release there will be another hard fork at block 850,000.  While we hate hard forks, this one was necessary and unavoidable.  Like I said, this release is a significant step for GUN.  Once we are comfortable with the V1.3 fork later this week - a few days later, we will roll out the wallets for GUN V1.4. You may see us roll out 2-3 wallets on V1.4 immediately after the 840,000 fork just to test it a little farther, but you will get it with plenty of time before the 850,000 fork.

3) So now, the big question is what is next - these items are confirmed and will be added to the roadmap with better scheduling once we know for sure the time lines for each....not necessrily in this order.
   a) Bitcoin core 0.14.x update - at this point, we are current with the technlogy of the day.
   b) Mobile wallets - very necessary for guncoin everyday transactions (android first for sure, apple is TBD)
   c) Online wallets - very necessary for guncoin every transactions - comparable to Mymonero.com and MyEtherwallet.com
   d) Other code and security patches as required that benefit the users and miners.

There are other items that have been discussed, some in detail some in vague generalities and represent the current crypto currency buzzwords of the day.  All of these are still under legitimate considertion and none have been permanently kicked off the list of possibilities.  Keep in mind, after we finish the list above, we have established the solid and secure base that we want to move forward with.  But keep in mind, that you can only do so much with a single coin or token - not all of these new desired features you have requested can live in the same code base.  Additionally, we have to keep in mind - does a coin used for everyday firearms transactions need that feature???  While some features are very intersting, they really add no long term value to the coin.  So everything I just said, you can apply to smart contracts, special wallet enhancements, masternodes, zdsnarks, etc. ....... Whatever makes sense for the current coin and is compatible with the work we have already done, will be seriously looked at and added in at the earliest opportunity AFTER the above upgrades previously mentioned are completed.

Again, we appreciate your inputs on how we are doing and what you would like to see in the future in the current Guncoin or something else.  Thanks for your patience and support.

1) It'll be interesting to see who pipes up in this thread when they didn't upgrade and their wallets won't sync..

2) a) 10k blocks is 13.888 days give or take between the forks.  Well, it's never faster always slower because of difficulty schemes, so 2 to 3 weeks depending on diff changes..  (with the profitability on Guncoin climbing, autoswitching pools are jumping on and off of Guncoin, this results in the diff going up and down, actually slowing the blockchain down by a few percent)  That gives everybody plenty of time to get the wallets updated from current to 1.4.

2) b) Lightning network - it's a speed/convenience thing..  Cross coins without an exchange..  WHAT?!?!?! - https://lightning.network - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightning_Network - compatability outside BTC is still in flux, but whatever is compatible, Gun will be ready for.

3) Apple sucks, next...

4) Buzzwords..  Masternodes = poopoo..  Good for a few, bad for Guncoin because implementation at this point is a step backward in wallet security & requires removing several advances that we just made.  Maybe in the future.. (yes, I had a heads up that was coming)

I vote for masternodes. Tongue Like 100k GUN per MN or something like that...

Masternodes are not easily compatible with what we have in the coin right now - it would take a major coding overhaul and several months of work to implement those inside the current coin.  Based on what path we are on now, heading to Bitcoin core 0.14.x, I do not see value in Masternodes for this coin at this time.  The only benefits I can find for Masternode implementation that we will not already have with our current roadmap is fees for the node owners.  Speed is not an issue, testing on bitcoin core 0.14 shows exception speeds.....

Is there something I am missing that Masternodes provide?  Remember, the end goal here is to have a safe, simple, secure and stable payment system for the firearms industry who is just now discovering crypto.  How do Masternodes help solve that problem?  If someone can convince me and the development team how they help the coin or the end user, then we can give it additional consideration for the current Guncoin roadmap.  NOW, the privacy discussion is another issue, it can be done within the current coin and would add value and security to transactions.  So that option is a lot higher on the evaluation list.

Bahahaha, than I could do 3 masternodes with just what I bought today..

I think we would need to aim a little higher than that!   Wink

I like the direction that the website is going, definitely forward.

We are going to call it done for now.  Still some more minor tweaking to be done and for some odd reason, the logo is stretched on Chrome only and appears normal on Edge and Firefox......Regardless, we think it is lots better than where we started for sure.....Thanks for all the feedback, public and private.

Logo looks great, but it`s not congruent to your websitedesign.

Thanks for the feedback.  We like what we have and that is what we will be moving forward with.

For corporate identity (logo, website, shirts, poster...)

I recommend you the following marketplace. For example you pay 400 $ and many designers will send you a corporate identity packet. Then you can chose one of it. It is like a contest. This is the best solution for getting the perfect coprorate identity. We tried it already, and we are very impressed.

We already did that on Fiverr with several designers and got the logo we have now.

The website is looking nice, nice and fresh both.

One small thing of note; the Guncoin logo at the top is skewed/stretched vertically for me... I'm using the latest version of Chrome on Windows 10. I suspect it may be due to my monitor resolution since I'm on an UHD (4K resolution) monitor.  I tested it with Edge as well and it is not skewed vertically but the logo does show allot of aliasing so perhaps a higher resolution image for the logo would be better. Smiley

Are you referring to the big one in the home page header or the little icon in the page tab at the top of each page???

The website update continues and making good progress.  We estimate we are about 75% complete at this point.  Home page is done.  We ended up consolidating and/or renaming a few pages which will be a little easier to maintain and make it a little more user friendly we hope.  Bottom line it is a lot cleaner and newer than we had before.

Some days are so satisfying, even if for no other reason than seeing some self-important little LA douchebag get pwn3d by a chick from another country on twitter..

Long story short, some guy that apparently doesn't like guncoin, posted some crap on twitter to his 800 followers, who basically clowned him in response. (I obscured the names so there's no followup, let this die)

Note the flowery background in his screen capture, this guy is definitely anti-gun and carried that over to guncoin.
