Their biggest failure was continual rebasing of the coin and website versions. They should have focused on services giving the coin value. there are hundreds of altcoins that do the same thing. They thought devs would flock to them but they wont. They should have taken triple a titles with millions of players and built services that used ion rather than rebasing countless times and circle jerking over features nobody would use.

I don't think they ever had a chance with games. They got lucky during the 2017 bubble and that's it. I don't think any game with millions of players needs any services from the likes of ionomy. By 2016 the mobile gaming market had already evolved beyond anything a handful of amateurs like ionomists could offer.

They also missed the boat with the whole dash cloning nonsense. No one needs any new copypasta coins and even if they somehow magically managed to develop something worthwhile no one will care if it's not based on BTC or ETH or some other solid widely used platform; and their ION shit reeks of a typical premine scam. Besides they don't have the chops to promote anything. Remember stickers on race cars? How did that work out LOL.

The irony is that if they just kept the BTC they collected in 2016 they would all be living the dream Garza promised them. Shitcoining 101.

62 satoshi now... not looking good but if wildshark and korvas were here they’d tell you its gone up in usd value. I’d still prefer the satoshis and not buy ion.

Surely team ion’s bank balance is getting low? With them paying themselves a wage and the low value that premine cant go far.

speaking of wildshark was he finally banned perm or did he just slink off after finally realising how bad ion investments were?

I’m pretty sure they must be running low on funds, and that may be part of the reason why they’ve not been able to push anything out for ages. Even by their own incredibly slow standards, this year has been a stand out dud of a year in terms of delivery. They never fully discuss funding but they allude to it occasionally in very vague terms. The ‘community controlled’ ion core dev fund apparently has ~3 million ion in it, so even that’s not a vast sum of money.

The broader problem is that in common with all alt coin projects of this ilk, they’re way too immersed in this little bubble to be able to comprehend the fact that none of the stuff they’re working on really appeals to people outside of altcoin obsessives. It never has and it never will.

I’m sure Korvas will read this at some point, so I just want to leave this little nugget here for him to remind him of his own delusion: how’s this working out for you, champ?

When BTC returns to $20k ion will be much higher than $0.04.

i agree on low funds thing. dark matter was just a second/third round premine in disguise. bittrex volume is abysmal and it’ll eventually delist.

O well. Matlack will need a new angle else he and his crew will need to get real jobs. Maybe the can get Josh Garza in as a contractor.... he’s got experience in sucking a bit more blood from the stones lol.

Yes, he's banned but I think his frustration with deflating ION bags is the main reason behind it... he went nuts here with serial posting in multiple colors.

Sounds like it's about time to rebrand it again and relaunch as some sort of DeFi PNG-decorated scam token.

I probably shouldn't be giving them ideas.

You joke, but I suspect that’s their next play. They were already talking about finding alternative avenues (ie pivoting again) because they seem to have finally realised that - surprise, surprise - no users really care about decentralised game assets, and almost no game devs really care or have a realistic use case for blockchain integration beyond gimmicky proof of concept stuff. I could have told them that 4+ years ago, but whatever.

Ok that explains everything really. When they put someone so obviously nuts (might be genuinely bipolar, in which case I apologize - not my intent to make fun of mental illness) in charge of their development or whatever he's in charge of, that's pretty much what they should have expected. For some reason I thought he fucked off years ago. I guess they don't have anybody else who knows anything about coding and is willing to go along with their dumb schemes.

I have absolutely no doubt that Boki/Tor is probably extremely skilled as a dev, but he also clearly has communication issues that need managing. Without that, he’s a fairly divisive and destructive influence, and dominates conversation to the point where people feel like it’s pointless getting involved.

Their community was obviously dying already, but Boki/Tor’s rants and exit just sped the process up. Now it’s this mess of two different discord’s, no apparent direction in either group, and only a tiny number of people who mostly are minimally engaged anyway.

WTF LOL

Someone going full Garza on Github there, a bunch of deleted comments. So what exactly is going on? Some sort of disagreement that caused the split?

As with everything Ionomy related, it’s fairly confusing, but also deeply funny. The summary is that Boki/Tor had a meltdown in their discord a couple of months ago and wound up insulting almost everyone, talked about disagreements between him and the Ionomy team, and had a hilarious argument with Krumz and rdwilde. Boki/Tor left the discord. After this, the tiny ‘community’ seemed to be fractured and they proposed a split because there seemed to be a desire to have more control over the coin development handed over to the ‘community’.

The deleted comments on GitHub were from rdwilde, I believe, and were probably deleted by Boki/Tor because ultimately he only really values his own opinion.

There’s some discontent simmering with the lack of progress from Ionomy, but ultimately there’s only about 8-10 people left who engage with the whole shitshow now. Even the most vocal of them seem bizarrely content with Matlack just popping up once in a while and soothing them by giving vague ideas of when they might, possibly, release something.

I’m astounded that it continues to rumble on, but I guess I just consistently underestimate how endlessly dense and gullible some of these people are. Still, anyone who’s watched altcoin communities long enough will know that generally a community takeover of the coin is just yet another indicator that this is dead. Even if ionomy release whatever guff they’re working on, it’s not going to be successful - they clearly don’t have any partners lined up because otherwise they’d be in much more of a hurry to get stuff out, so it’ll just be more releases sent off into the dwindling echochamber of their followers.

Hilariously, I know he hasn’t sold. In exactly the kind of ridiculous ‘dying altcoin’ move that you’d expect, Korvas is now the ‘project manager’ for ‘Ion core’, the ‘community’ driven side of the project, after they officially split into ‘Ion core’ and ‘Ionomy’ (the company). They even have two separate discords now, because nothing will foster an already depleted community like making things even more confusing, right?

korvas128 hasn't posted in a long time and his last post was kinda salty. Maybe he finally sold his bags of (once upon a time) $7 IONs and other PNGs for $0.02 and quit this horror show.

Still of the opinion that this is a ‘market leading proposition’, Korvas? Is 2021 going to be the year where everything ‘comes to fruition’? Or are you finally going to realise that you’ve been sold a vision that can’t and won’t work by Ionomy for many years?

Merry Christmas and happy assorted holidays to all bagholders. I wish you successful dumping of you IONs this year and may you start your new year by doing what actually matters - like perhaps holding the few satoshis that you'll recover from this scam.

My perspective is when companies like Ionomy offer a market-leading proposition; they get somethings right & somethings wrong especially when there is no benchmark or company to follow. Opportunities, obstacles, challenges & problems WILL manifest themselves in markets that are in a continual state of evolution. The fact that Ionomy is still here after four years shows me they are intelligent and agile enough to navigate the treacherous but rewarding waters of crypto/gaming.

2020 will be the year when all their work and learnings will start to come to fruition.

For instance, PowerGrid evolves into  GameGrid. Apart from the GameGRID developer-centric services, GameGRID also offers a unity plugin meaning it's easy for a game developer to implement crypto/tokens across multiple platforms (PC,Mobile,Console). Rumble arena will be the first 3rd party game to incorporate GameGrid. Currently, on the google playstore alone Rumble Arena is sitting at 100k+ downloads.  My prediction is by the end of next year, over  1 million gamers across multiple games will have used Ionomy's transactional-based blockchain.

One year on. Still no ‘GameGrid’. Still no ‘GameDock’. Still no Rumble Arena integration. Still nothing from the ever silent Premium Partner ‘Lucky Tap Games’. They don’t even have 10s of users, let alone millions.

Still of the opinion that this is a ‘market leading proposition’, Korvas? Is 2021 going to be the year where everything ‘comes to fruition’? Or are you finally going to realise that you’ve been sold a vision that can’t and won’t work by Ionomy for many years?

Ionomy is a notably excellent exchange because of their clarity and honesty.

I would recommend them to both users and teams listing coins without reservation.  Their direct approach, friendliness, and candor stand out.

I can't actually say much more because it is a very plain, simple exchange that works well supported and built by a great team.

Which means nothing, even if it were true. There is no lack of exchanges.

And there is nothing "honest" about the unfulfilled promises they've been feeding their bagholders for ~5 years now. Luckily they're sufficiently incompetent in promoting their garbage so chances of anyone new getting scammed by them are very low.

I hate to bump this shitstain of a "project" but it seems appropriate to check up on it since last time we laughed at some promises made in Q1 and we're now firmly in Q4.

So...

  • The coin seems to be dead - price around $0.01 but no volume.
  • Gaming bullshit seems to be dead - Gravity and Moon leaderboards have two players each, Offroad has none. I think they stopped paying people to play but I can't be bothered to find out why/when.
  • The new pivot now is the exchange. There are announcements of some shitcoins being listed, they even have election prediction "markets", which predictably nobody is interested in - last trades were like 10 days ago.

It appears that they still haven't figured out how to make something of any interest to anybody.
