What problems you are solving on equity market?
The model is to reduce transaction fees significantly and to allow buying of however small a part of equity. And it is faster as well. Just read their whitepaper, the concept is impressing.

We'll add new assets like works of art etc later. You can already trade tokenized RE and shares.

Will the demand for LAT grow only because of the expansion of the market? Just proportional?
The demand for such enterprises is growing now, because all the customers want low transaction costs, transparency and speed. Will be simple competition for a share in the constantly growing demand. LAToken Team looks like the strongest among all the competitors for me. I think demand for LAT will grow much more quickly. LAT price will grow too. Smiley

Can be some conflict of interests here.
Thats why custodians must be INTERNATIONAL. This must eliminate potential conflict of interest in appraisal during asset repurchasing.

1. Homeowner borrows cash against property   --   Nope, they SELL part of their property.   
2. Local vendor provides appraisal   --   Independent appraisals are used as a benchmark to ensure that the prices are fair. However prices of tokens and property sale are determined by market auctions at the settlement date.   
3. Local custodian holds property   --   Custodian can be international, there will be many certified custodians.
4. Homeowner auctions tokens representing property on LAT platform   --   Initially tokens backed by property are sold by a custody, which uses cash from token sale to buy a part of property.
5. Homeowner can repurchase property from current token owner at newly appraised price (centralized, may be lowered)   --   Custody sells the property at an auction which together with independent appraisal insures that the price is fair.  Insurances will be used.

The LAToken model has several advantages.
a) Blockchain is vital to store property rights of tokens and process transactions which enable secondary market for fractional ownership.  
b) Tokenisation allows to sell fractions of assets on a secondary market. LAToken make tradable real assets in crypto. This makes illiquid assets liquid and unlock their value for asset owners, while crypto investors enjoy opportunity to diversify crypto portfolio into real assets without exchanging crypto to fiat.
