curious what advantage there is to upgrading codebase to stay level with bitcoin --- that is outside of a few of the important security upgrades in bitcoin since this was originally launched......

i mean i guess if a coin has a 'limited community" is an updated client necessary?

i ve helped update a few other alt coins and found few people used the clients !!

im curious the amount of premined mmc2 that was actually redeemed in private keys from the other coins and the amount if any that remains unredeemed in this fashion.....

also I think mmc2 as it stands is a robust , future minded coin at least for the people who rave on about 'asic resistance'

i can tell you , never , ever have I seen anything as hard to mine as this coin ever.....

when you count hashes a minute and your best hardware churns out between 3 and 4 , that is 'resistant'  Grin

Is this dead yet? Would anyone like me to resurrect this as a simple POW coin?

Memorycoin is not dead. However, it would be nice if you could transfer us (to the officers) the domain - memorycoin.org.
Otherwise, we will have to rebrand the coin to something else.

Hi Coaex,

I pointed the domain as Deliquency had requested for the past few years, but checking it recently, he hasn't maintained a website at the IP addresses he gave me. I kept control of the domain name for precisely this reason, that you guys would lose interest and let the coin die, which clearly it has.

I guess he need some developers to maintain the coin. We both supported the coin in the last 2 years.
However, I have some other business to run and gave up supporting it both in terms of finance and development. Yet, if anyone interested in development (for example, upgrading the code base to latest Bitcoin core), I can give my effort as I had in the past.

have not posted here for a while,

was a bit concerned when a 'few' mmc2 i was waiting for never arrived when i expected it ,

the other day i had some time and synched up the wallet and along came what i had been waiting for !!

So I was happy to see I got the coins (trust me I own so few you would not believe )

Reminded me I never posted how to generate new addresses !!

Just type in the rpc console

getnewaddress

it will spit it out

while not necessary you can certainly

validateaddress x

where x is the new address it spit out for you and the output along with the public key and a few other items should be

ismine = true

also worth mention, had no issue at all connecting to network, not as many nodes as last time out but very active , chain moving , if there are any updates with a gpu or other optimized miners I would love to hear about them, I am not mining right now since i lack hardware to have any legit chance of hitting a block

I have not checked in here in some time.

The chain is healthy , more nodes than ever over 36 connections.

I don't have any hardware to mine so I am not mining, not sure if any pools are up but I would probably solo if i was .....

One little thing, not that it is a big deal,

Recently I noticed this is still offered on Bter so i had a small amount of btc left in an old forgotten account and purchased some of this and one other alt coin. I withdrew both and got the other coin but never got the memory coin 2......  not sure if the exchange shafted me or what,,  the quantity was just a few hundred so I am not even going to bother filing a ticket but I am really just curious if there are any newer developments and if anyone is active in trading on bter exchange ??

Thx

as for the wallet mine is synched up no problem, i compiled it for windows myself from the source code and it is identical to the one (more or less) the developer released.

21 connections to network

There is a miner built into the wallet or one of the pools offered one but i cannot remember if it can be used to solo mine or the link to that pool.

Perhaps the dev. will check in and post that !!

All previous Memorycoin pools have been shutdown. We are reformatting our old server in order to provide more Memorycoin services.

Please follow our MMC-Pools Thread or visit our website at mmc-pools.com for completely anonymous 0% fee pools!

ok , was not trying to criticize your work, i can certainly generate as many addresses/priv keys as i need to ,

just wanted to confirm....

i would have to look it over but re enabling the button could be very easy or involve a lot of rewriting depending on what other changes were made...

eventually i may have time to check it out...

i built myself a new wallet today with the upgraded version of openssl 1.0.2a using the source here

https://github.com/memorycoin/memorycoin I noticed it compiles as version v2.999.999.1-gv3010123.010.102

and appears to work fine, except for one little thing..... lol

the button for the 'new address' on the receive tab is missing !!

also the links on the votes tab in the qt client seem to not reslove to the proper webpage

i put it on github here https://github.com/cinnamoncoin/memorycoin2

here is the wallet on github https://github.com/cinnamoncoin/memorycoin2/releases/tag/2.999.999.1

someone may want to have a look at it

EDIT ONE - 1   The wallet released by the developmen team seems to have the same issue

I am aware of those issues,

I believe the old devs wanted to restrict addresses to default addresses to make voting easier. I know the links are broken because the votes website had been offline.

http://mmc-votes.com/ works but it's really the debugging information. I plan on working on memorycoin core but would like to have more developers on the team before upgrading to the latest bitcoin source.

btw the current compiled version of v3.010.102 (the suffix in that version numbering above)

Thanks

Part of the Memorycoin servers were down last night for a few hours. We've gotten them back online.

For your information, we are hiring a CSO, CNO, and CMO. I also am in contact with the majority of the existing large-shareholders so you can get elected quickly.

The pay is still 1% of all block-reward from your election date.

i recently got back to this and could not download the blockchain past a certain block on the wallet released for windows by the development team and a wallet I compiled myself on windows .......... did not take time to see exactly what the issue may be ..........

if i get some spare time i might....

Edit 1 ---  Finally had time to revisit this and decided the code and wallets (the distributed win and my own build looked solid)  , redownloaded the blockchain, bingo , no problems !!
