1. Roughly 5GB
2. Addresses are on wallet.dat and is separated from snapshot. (Backup wallet.dat!)
3. Yes as long as the transaction has been confirmed.

Thanks for these useful answers.  I finished downloading the Snapshot. It's folder that contains the following files:

blk0001.dat
blk0002.dat
db.log
log.0000000038
txleveldb folder with a bunch of .sst files

I have no clue what to do with all this  Roll Eyes  Sorry, I am that much of a novice at this. So how do I use these files to synchronise my wallet more quickly? I thought I would just download the Snapshot and press a magic install button.

Hi guys

I am a super novice at all this altcoin business. I made a bit of money from 5 Litecoins over the last week, and decided to use some of it to buy Mintcoin through Cryptopia because the concept sounded legitimate and promising.

And then downloaded the v2 Mintcoin wallet on my Mac and transferred all my Mintcoins to it.

The problem is that I had not waited for my wallet to synch before making the transfer. And the transfer is reaaaaaallly slow. So this raises a few questions:

1) how much disk space does synching the Mintcoin wallet take?
2) apparently the MintCoin Snapshot is means to be quicker, and I am downloading it now.  But will that have a different address than the wallet I originally transferred my Mintcoins to? How do I make sure my address stays the same so I actually receive the icy fresh Mint.
3) will I receive my Mintcoins?!

Sorry if some of these questions have been answered. Again, I have ZERO knowledge in altcoins, and it seems that I got involved in Mintcoins which requires an advanced understanding of these things.

Much peace

I am ready dump a big ass bag soon. Wallet is still syncing for 3 weeks. Bullshit

Their is a flaw in the Mintcoin wallet ,
this flaw was only introduced in the latest wallet updates the last devs made.

For some reason, if your wallet has coins in it and you are a few weeks behind, it has a large amount of traffic congestion.
Does not matter if your wallet is locked.

The only way I have seen to bypass this flaw, is to rename your wallet.dat to wallet.keep
, then let mintcoin create an empty wallet and the mintcoin client will sync normally.
Once you have the wallet synced, close the client, rename wallet.dat to emptywallet.dat and rename wallet.keep to wallet.dat and then start the mint client.
Wallet with coins works normally if kept in sync or only a few blocks behind.

If you only mint once a month or so , you have to go thru that wallet renaming everytime, until new devs fix the flaw introduced in the code by the last batch of devs.  Tongue

 Cool

FYI:
Use a Snapshot , if your wallet has not been synced in over 6 months, it will be faster.

I don't have any coins in the wallet, it's on exchange collecting dust...I'll retry. Thanks.

Have you tried using the current snapshot for a quick sync?

Twitter, Facebook have been quiet for a while.

@MintcoinTeam and @MintyAllDay are fairly active Twitter accounts.  If you believe they are not active enough then I'd suggest you consider submitting potential tweets and marketing ideas.  Also consider starting your own mintcoin marketing social account and help us solve the marketing issues you see.

Why are we not doing anything to support or fix the coin problems if there are any? If the developer need support we can raise a donation fund and fix the problems.

Anyone can help!  Check it out:

if you have coins on an exchange i imagine the site stakes them in their wallet and dumps them at market rate

actually the issue is the dumping that is currently happening, in order for the price to shoot up we actually need more people holding

I have always thought that mintcoin would be/stay in the top 100 coins. I guess that holding your coins and minting new ones affects the market. There isn't as much movement because we are holding.

Very innovative coin with a great brand name.

Does need bit of a marketing boost , brand push - wallet has many good features as it is.

I believe the active dev moved over to PIVX to help out.

Twitter, Facebook have been quiet for a while.

I've given out a few million to people and causes back in 2014-15

still mininting on/off would be nice to move it onto a dedicated pi2 or 3 and dish out to people to mint

It a real shame to see this coin dying... assuming it is still alive. I'm still holding my stash but I would love to some some progress, a new wallet, new features, better PoS.

I wonder if there is still a dev team working on MINT?

I am really big fan of mint coin. Was one the first coin that I invested back in 2014 in and still believe in it. I still didn’t sell the coins that I owned back then. Why are we not doing anything to support or fix the coin problems if there are any? If the developer need support we can raise a donation fund and fix the problems. I can’t see it dying.

How many threads does this coin need?

Sure looks like the original posted thread to thy, helped code the BB coding on the front page & left / right very long ago (amount of energy to run the app). Given all Mint thy had left to Linux Mint years ago, like many of the first altcoins & wonders {built} of the earth more to see more  Cool
