You can also manually add nodes that are current from the node list at https://chainz.cryptoid.info/mint/#!network

try deleting the peers.dat file and restarting your wallet.

There is no 'peers.dat' in the wallet's folder?

well that IS a problem as it is fundamental in gaining connections. I've never come across an instance where this file failed to be generated.

You might want to redownload the binaries from github and try again...if that doesn't work you'll need to post the contents of debug.log file (delete it before trying to start the client again to ensure it is "clean").

Man I used a setup in one of the previous wallets a long time ago... None of these new ones seem to work.. Looking at all the github files it looks too complicated... Is there a simple setup/executable file to get me going??

https://github.com/MintcoinCommunity/Mintcoin-Desktop-Wallet/releases/download/v2.0.1.0/MintCoin-Qt-v2.0.1.0-Win32.zip

That is the current Windows wallet. Just unzip to wherever you like and run the exe. The last version that had an installer was the 1.7 branch, which isn't allowed on the network anymore. If you have been trying to run such an old version, there is a chance that your IP has been banned. Such bans are lifted usually within 24 hours.

Installer based distributions will be supported again in the next release.

how do i import a public key?

Quote
right chain...

export the public key, rename wallet.dat, open wallet and import public key

am i renaming wallet.dat to wallet.dat or something else?

Thanks so much for you help, ill give you more like 25k if i can get it working Smiley

1.
With your current wallet open and running (ie, before renaming anything), goto the debug console and type in 'dumpprivkey ' (no quotes or braces around your MINT address ofc). this will return your private key for that address. copy that to a safe place.

2.
Close the wallet program completely, then go into your data directory (where wallet.dat is located) and rename wallet.dat to something else (like wallet.old). Once that is done, open up the wallet program again. It will create a NEW wallet.dat file with a new default address.

3.
Once the wallet program is up and running again, goto the debug console and type in 'importprivkey [label]' (no quotes or braces again) using the privkey that you copied in step 1 and an optional label.

4.
Once the importing of the privkey is done, you MAY need to close the program and start it up again with the '-rescan' option pick up any transactions that it missed during the import. YMMV with this being a necessity.

and you need the private key, not public (my fault)

to import it you type importprivkey keygoeshere

MINT  Mg1YaFGphDugNwBAEAVpmCXzKtbo9nrp5b

Fixed the address...Dev address instead Wink

Wait! then what is this address for, it was listed as mint dev fund in the ann.

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/mint/address.dws?Mt6nEG8Pp7kyimcHEp3gFqdjDPQqXas5Ae.htm

I have sent some mint there everytime i stake. Is that address locked forever? if so should i send to address you posted from now on?

EDIT: It is still listed as Mint Dev Fund in the ann.

nothing "official" about the address I posted...and (for the time being) the "official" guardianship fund address is as you posted. Its true that the guardianship address has been mostly inaccessible for the past few months as it relies solely on cryptomommy. I was simply offering up an alternate address that IS accessible here and now.

Donation/Fund addresses will be (pun intended) addressed and ultimately redone in the future so they don't revolve around a single point of failure, but we're not quite ready to make such a change at this very moment.

I suppose I owe an explanation for my disappearance.

As a community coin we need to have a backup plan that does not consist of starting all over whenever life hits the fan for one. With this said I would like to offer Ursay a copy of the mintcoin official wallets, access to the primary hosting for all mintcoin assets as well as keys to all Mintcoin social personas.

In additiona to the above post, I received an email from cryptomommy on 1/6/15 which suggested making me the backup for mintcoin assets.  I responded on the same day but have not heard from her since.  I just sent a follow up today via email directly asking for access.
