What are my options for storing NXT outside of a centralized exchange?

In the blockchain through the client.

If you don't want to download the blockchain, try mynxt.info or mofowallet.com. mynxt.info also have andoid and iOS apps.

I'm very careful about what I install on my computer.  Can I install NRS in a sandbox somehow?  I suppose I could run it as a very unprivileged user.  I use Linux BTW.

I think a web wallet is too risky.

Would Jay be a good choice?

jay with http://jnxt.org/nxt can work well as a Web wallet solution, also nxtvault is an android version of jay. For secure cold storage I would suggest http://jnxt.org/vapor

How does that work?  Wouldn't I be trusting jnxt.org?

mynxt.info online wallet isn't any different to using a centralized exchange, except it uses the blockchain linked to an account you create using a username and password.

I've heard some people use virtualbox? Or even boot Linux from a CD everytime. I don't know Linux well.

Beyond that, you would need to create a thread in nxtofrum or use the main thread where more people than me will see it  Grin

Any theories on the NXT price increase today?

Looks to me like the entire Chinese alt-crypto market got a massive investment surge, with NXT being one of the main beneficiaries:

This is sorted on volume....and if you check the markets, it's mostly BTC38 xxx/CNY markets leading the pack.

Now, I'm gonna go and gloat over my 300 Blackcoins. Grin

For me, it was the obvious exposure NXT will get, if this becomes a reality.....

Any theories on the NXT price increase today?

Just natural rotation, I believe. Dumping suppressed for a while, NXT is, charts in hand and fundamentals (as well as risk) contemplated, by leaps and bounds the best investment in crypto. Given that the volume is still minimal, I would expect this new trend to continue... once again, if the relentless dumping that has driven the price to these levels doesn't reappear. If that remains the case, I would expect a significant increase in both volume and price.

Either way, like you said it's the best thing going in crypto by far, so I'm not going anywhere.

The following crowdfunding (CF) article is far more important to the CC space than most will think:

http://www.crowdfundinsider.com/2015/05/67507-bitcoin-alternative-hyper-teams-up-with-goldpieces-to-sponsor-digital-currency-crowdfunding-platform-picisi-launches-worldwide-crypto-gaming-network/

To those of us in the cryptocurrency space the article is about a CC named GoldPieces, to those outside of the CC space it may be an article about gaming, but it actually is far more than that.

That article represents a bridge between the CC world and the CF world.  That site is one of the most well recognized crowdfunding media sites in the CF industry, their target audience is extremely limited and highly focused, the audience is essentially made up of two types of people: campaign organizers and campaign donors.  If you look at the DNA of a CF organizer, a CF donor, and a CC speculator you will see very little difference because we are all cut from the same cloth.

Our DNA map is: visionary, striver, investor, adventurer, gambler, thinker, creator, doer, motivator, leader ... etc ... you know what I'm talking about because you are one too.

That article is bigger than those featured in it, it represents a CC story (OUR story) being told in a foreign land (CF land) as such we should do what we can to support our story in their land so that more of them are encouraged and inspired to read more about us.

Please write a comment at the article, mention NXT, mention any of the NXT assets or MS, talk about the http://www.drachmae.money/expos/inv2/ project  or anything you wish knowing that the more positive attention drawn to the article the more people will want to know about cryptocurrency.

I'm looking to set up a new service using a NXT asset, its been about a year, but last I checked, NXT does not support a SendToMany command like bitcoind does. Is this still the case?

What alternative methods are people using to automate the paying out of multiple addresses at once for NXT assets?

Hi,

IIRC, SendToMany is seen as a cheap way of bloating the blockchain. i.e. 1000 txs only costs 1 NXT

There is a dividend function in the core now and one built buy third party devs (Dividend+) that automates paying a list of accounts. In this case, 1000 txs cost 1000 NXT and so more expensive to bloat the bloackchain.

But Nxt has (on testnet) prunable messages now so it may be the case that in future, there might be a SendToMany function that is only enabled for prunable data. So the bloat concern will be removed.

Btw, the main thread on BTT is now here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/nxt-blockchain-platform-proof-of-stake-official-587007

PURCHASE ON AMAZON.COM WITH NXT: ShapeShift.io‬ has partnered with Purse.io, a service that matches customers wishing to purchase ‪bitcoin‬ with bitcoin holders wanting to purchase items with retail giant Amazon.com. You can now make your purchases with Nxt: http://bit.ly/1JTnSdP

So let me get this straight. I can take my amazon gift cards and buy bitcoindark or nxt with them using purse?

Is that correct?

you would just have to do it manually. use purse.io to get bitcoins then take those bitcoins and feed them through shapeshift.io to change them into nxt or bitcoindark.

No, not yet. Purse hasn't integrated in that direction.

With this announcement today, you can spend your BitcoinDark or NXT at Amazon, not the other way around.

But - you can always buy BTC at Purse with your Amazon Gift Card and then use ShapeShift.io to convert instantly to BTCD, NXT, etc.

Very easy:  ShapeShift.io

Sounds like ShapeShift.io should be a PICISI sponsor.

I'll send you a PM
