it all looks very good and sounds interesting but need more exposure.
I agree exposure is critical, but the Devs can only do so much to gain exposure, which they have been (contacting websites, exchanges, verification services, and media outlets). Opal didn't have an ico or massive premine to dump to generate btc to pay for lots of advertising. So, a lot of it falls onto the community to get the coin a larger following. The developers have given you a number of tools and features to speak about. Everything that has happened through Opal has been through shear will and skill of the development team. All Opal needs is for the people who support it (or at the very least those who want to profit from it) to get out there and just talk about opal and ask for sites to accept opal. The more exposure we get the better.

I really do think this coin is here to stay and would love to see the community get the name out there in fun and innovative ways.

Here is a list of things you can do. (feel free to add any ideas you think will help)

Bitcointalk-
1. Talk about Opal on other BCT threads (not other altcoin threads, thats just rude)

Make Opal someones first-
2. Take a moment just talk about opal to friends you know who aren't into crypto (just have them join IRC to chat, plus Opal gets rained frequently)

CryptoNews-
3. There are a number of news outlets that cover crypto on: youtube, web, and  twitter. (call-in,comment,message about opal)
example- https://twitter.com/Bitcoin_Truth/status/521076703054295040

Troll Chat / IRC
4. Just bring opal into the conversation "I'm really excited about Opals next project" (Dont spam "buy opal" please, just get a conversation going)

Videos / Memes / Websites
5. Be apart of Opal, makes something to show your pride. ( I would love to see some silly Opal dance videos Tongue )

(feel free to add any ideas you think will help)

what can be bought on market?

It will be software, games, and music.  Our release of the store is estimated to be in about 2-3 weeks, and is being developed currently.  It will show off the features of opacity in new ways no one has ever done before, in all aspects of the site.

It will start with a limited beta, where only content creators that we have partnered with will be able to sell.  A week or two after that we'll open it up to all merchants.

i think its time to get some more exposure through some media outlets or article site.
if more people would know about the team and features it would definitely, even with the accumulating going on, be at a much higher price.

We are exploring alternate methods of media at the moment as well as the regular channels. The guys are making some nice progress on the road map already. The future is bright..

Yeah definitely! The Devs are fantastic with updates/progression and always on time with deadlines even releasing stuff earlier then announced which is rare in crypto.

If Opal got had more coverage it would sky rocket. Look at ARCH it has 16 mil coins and the ipo went at 6k per coin and then hit 13k on trex. Hype was crazy all over twitter for ARCH but searching for there opal only brings up a handful of posts.

I do think there is a bright future for opal as you said just can't wait to see were it leads xD

This is definitely a concern for us, and it's a very tricky subject.  Some features will be closed source, but things like stealth that affect funds will always be open source.

I will not install any crypto wallet that is not open source.

I highly suggest you release two wallets then, a bare-bones "open source" wallet, and then a enhanced wallet, as a separate git branch that includes the extra features.

Some people just want to buy & sell coins with a wallet and aren't interested in using any of the features.  (That's me)

I heard that you might be changing the protocol + chain to accommodate some of these new features. If not, then perhaps I can just install an Onyx2 wallet and stay open source that way instead?

to have the choice between a barebone opensrc wallet and a multifunctional one with closed branches would be nice, but i think its inevitable to put some things on lock down..

Yes, don't worry about that - we will always have an "open source" version of the wallet available, as mentioned in bassguitarman's post.

Even the closed source branches we create will still be open source, but access will be given only on request.

Huge smile on my face. That's great news!

looks awesome!

actually guys id recommend to close source for your new features, ive seen opal get cloned 3 times now, and other people are just waiting for you to create features and copy it...maybe even slap an ipo on it.
i wont say the name but today on twitter i see a new one who has cloned your exchange in wallet, exactly the same name in qt exactly the same look and features..

i think it would be very fair to your investors and for yourselves to make sure that other people can't just copy anonymous file transfers, or your marketplace, or your wallet design etc etc.
