I'm after some community advice.

Currently the price is hovering around 20sat,which,  puts the 250m (pre x11) at 50btc value.
(or roughly equivalent of 3.5BTC per week of mining - 14 weeks)

When you jump to x11 mining for 1 week, and produce another 250m,why would the market value the relative huge influx of coins at 20sat (50 btc) also?

I'm was an original miner from day one (albeit in a small way) and after making some good gains in itc today i was looking to invest some here, but just can't get my head around how, realistically, the market will react.

Cy

Keep in mind that until recently, pricing was judged with the understanding that ultimately a much larger supply of coins would be mined. Around 2 billion if I recall correctly. Now we will reach the 500 million mark a bit faster than we would have, but then it drops off to just the POS interest level. So effectively the future supply is being choked off, and valuations should reflect that. I don't know precisely how that will impact things, but I think it's too simple to assume the 1 week POS mining will have a huge impact.

I suppose some of the miners that week will be dumping, but that's probably an excellent opportunity for supporters to be scooping the coin up. After that the price should have upwards pressure from ongoing developments and as kids are given the coins. (Since I don't expect kids to exchange Piggycoins at nearly the velocity that traders are currently doing it at. (Lower velocity = higher pricing pressure.)

It looks as nobody knows about the switch to POS and therefore the price is falling and falling. What about doing a piggyday or something similar for this event?

I feel that this might confuse people a little. We are gonna start hyping the PoS change 5 days before it happens though, 11 days till the change is done Smiley

Well, but the topic now indicates that version 1.4 will introduce POS and X11. That makes some attention, but when people realize that these are only future visions and not even close to reality yet, they will take the pigcoins that before was forgotten and sell them to buy some real POS/X11-coin like Sync or XC... I did that myself, I know...  Roll Eyes

You're right. I'm gonna make a new topic for piggy though, refering the old topic ofc but with the new characteristics and specs.
Should I do this ASAP or closer to the launch date?

Dev are we gonna be able to change our old coins (scrypt) for new ones (x11) or how this is going to work.??

Yes, we got together with the guys from coinking.io (the ones that will be making our lauch multipool) to bring you an website to do this. You will just have to send you old coins and receive the new ones.

Shhh.... some of us are still accumulating ;-)

Seriously, it's bizarre how people sell off PIG after each announcement. Lets the rest of us buy back in cheap, and then profit on the next run up. I've made money on many alts, but PIG has been the lowest stress, easiest cash cow (or cash pig :-) of them all. Of course I always hold a bunch in case it finally stays high and keeps rising, but PIG has been wonderfully predictable in its behavior. Buy now and be happy later.

Only 12 more days till PoS, right?  I personally love the idea.  CryptoArrow will be in full support of the transition, and in dedication to Piggy we will release our new site then, also creating a stirring for Piggy!

is Piggybank 1.4 going to be the wallet going into POS?

I was going to suggest putting the official website/social/game/reddit links into the wallet to try to make the community more responsive.

Maybe even a 'Teachers' click here' to get teacher to try and promote the coin to their classrooms.

Just a thought?

Nop, 1.4 is the last piggybank update for this blockchain. We will launch the "new Piggybank" when the new coin launches, and yes good idea. I will put some links in there Smiley

Question for OP: the 500M in the graphic - what does that refer to? Just wanted to clarify. Thanks!

Our new maximum # of coins Smiley
Ok, that's the *new* cap that comes into being when the new wallet launches. I think I get it now, so the ambiguity in the Specification section makes sense now. Looking forward to the new features like POS. I've noticed that this is implemented seemingly very differently for different coins. Some (eg DEM) although not tested yet, only release a stake yearly; others like CGB function very well and reliably each month. What are the plans for Piggycoin in the stake frequency, and is it distributed directly proportional to wallet size?

The specifications are not updated since we are still working in this "old" blockchain. I will create a new thread when the new blockchain is launched (+-13 days from now).

The Specifications for the PoS will be:

-15% annual interest
-Min Coin Age = 8 hours
-Max Coin Age = Unlimited

This means you need to have some piggycoins in your wallet, after them being 8 hours there they will start to "mint" and you will start to receive transactions (your interest), this interest will equal to 15% of your coins/year.

EDIT: A good FAQ on this is the blackcoin one: http://www.blackcoin.co/faq/
We will have one for piggy posted in our website.

I think CAIX is the template for piggy. I think stake will be paid daily after coins start staking.

Piggy is jumping on a whole new blockchain, so the implementation shouldn't be a prob if the fork goes to plan.
