Guys I know you are all committed to this coin and have a lot invested in its success but can I suggest you need to take up a more emergency recovery position. Qora in the average investors mind is just a NODE or even a clone like NAS. I think this coin has one last chance and this is how I think it can make that chance. Qora must go OS, not in a week time, not in a months time but NOW I mean immediately. With i'm sure the next wave of coins about to come QORA must get established and a new logo, website and stuff the developer is waiting for is just losing precious times.

QORA's last chance as I see it is to build a developer community just like NXT did. Qora must have developers who are willing to build on it like some have done for NXT. Otherwise I believe Qora's price will never recover. The increase in price from the recent virtual OS has no affect on the price. This coin needs a vibrant community and now it aint got it folks.

No point shooting the massager like your Smagada guy does to everyone who try to help. That guy needs to be kicked off this coin he seriously made an idiot of Qora on another thread, his aggressive imbecilic arguments is terrible PR for this coin. So I'm just passing on advice as I see it so don't bother arguing. I hope you guys wise up and stop building a wall around Qora and let it breath and get some momentum in it from outsiders.

It is your last chance I think. Time to act is NOW.

Just a question- What is the argument against open sourcing but putting some fatal flaws in the code to prevent clones? I'm sure you remember this method worked well for Nxt.

No arguments against it.  In reality... only two things have taken place:

a) There was a vote early on where the majority voted to postpone going open source.

b) qora (dev) recently posted:

To go open source this project needs to get a proper identity first. This means atleast the following things need to be done before we can go open source.

  • Rework this topic (update the information, self-moderate it to prevent the spam).
  • Recreate the website (correct information, blog, forum).
  • Better communication through the blog, forum, etc
  • Create better documentation on how to use the client.
  • Setting up a proper issue tracker with guidelines.
  • Fixing the issues people are having.
  • Maybe a new logo.

I am already working on these things so don't expect them to take very long.
Some parts of the source might be hidden first. If this creates a larger interest and community the missing parts will become available immediatly.

I get it now.  I only loosely follow this thread and didn't know much about the plan or these details about a vote.

I am not a troll and would like to see this project succeed so I was offering some constructive criticism.

Another piece of constructive feedback (not criticism) is to very well publish a good plan and guideline like the one above with soft dates on it.

It helps the average person who is a doubter to read a clear plan on which things will be opened because then they can make an informed decision.  Most people won't be faithful Qora supporters but instead doubters and the more information that is clearly put out there, the more the Qora community can grow.  I am guessing it would definitely cut down on trolling which by now the Qora community seems tired of too.

Hi Jabo
Unfortunately Qora is missing a pretty girl like kkot for more exposure
Is she has a sister or a friend?  Tongue

There is no way to guarantee that there are no flaws in the code since there has only been 1 developer working in it.

There is also no guarantees there is any flaws either.

We just to forge and wait it out. I have been forging for nearly 6 months so I'm not concerned by another month or 2 for the masses to find out about Qora  Wink

Qora needs to open up so everyone can see if it is the real deal or not.

Who said it will not?   Huh

Why is it so hard for some of you folks to accept that the majority of Qora holders (among those that have been supporting the network for MONTHS) agree that certain objectives (already put forth by qora the dev) need to be fulfilled before going open source?   Undecided

You seriously need to STEP BACK (in general...  not you personally jabo38).  Some of us have been here trying to keep the network online (since Day 1) while others only bothered to stop by to drop their clone-venom.  Either you let us enjoy this moment or you risk having a very rough time on this thread...  just saying...   Roll Eyes

...especially the Nxt Circle Jerk...

Just a question- What is the argument against open sourcing but putting some fatal flaws in the code to prevent clones? I'm sure you remember this method worked well for Nxt.

*And bounties for finding flaws also helps

I've been through this with Nxt at the start of this year, so heed my words Qora dudes:

Release the code ASAP and let the world (and their dog) take a good look.
Until you do, this debate will just drag on and on, leading to FUD and BS on both pro- and anti-Qora sides.

Even if it turns out the Qora source code is totally clean and a thing of beauty, you will still get criticism, but at least you can then point the critics to the code, and ask them to back up their claims. Saves a lot of hassle arguing........

And if it turns out that Qora is built on a very early Nxt version (which seems not to be the case now, I know  Cool), who cares?
The Nxt codebase has held up pretty well over the last year, and apart from Nxt itself, there are now probably dozens of Nxt clones up and running.

This is very true.

I believe Qora is not a clone now, buuuuuuut how can anybody know if there isn't a major flaw?  What if there is a weakness and it can be attacked?

This is what happened with Blackcoin.  For months it kept its code closed-source.   Within a couple of hours of it opening up somebody already found a major flaw.

Qora needs to open up so everyone can see if it is the real deal or not.  Until then, nobody can know for sure because there is a chance it might always be another Blackcoin.

Poloniex

True...  this is the longest it has taken them to resolve issues which doesn't make sense since v18 is significantly more stable than ANY previous Qora version.
well, qora said the are really having problems due to the big wallet..and busoni stated he tried x times to fix it with recover...
BTER seem to have no problems, so maybe they should ask BTER how they manage their wallet ?
Also busoni could send the dat files to Qora himself to have a look at it.

EDIT :
I forgot to add, they surely would have records of deposits/withdrawals and trading, so if for some reason wallet can not be restored because of broken chain, chunks of data got lost, then at least they should be able to create a new wallet and reconstruct the balances.

What time poloniex can be good Huh Huh
I hope soon. It is taking price down.
the qora wallet is not working at this time, we are waiting to hear from the devs  (Poloniex said)

Though I am ardently opposed to trolling, I do believe that in free markets, customers have every right to assemble and spread the truth about companies that provide poor service or that are engaging in damaging behavior.

This response from polo has gone on for to long.  It could be that they still have a misunderstanding and are to busy to thoroughly look into this issue.  Also, since Qora's value and volume has been so low, they've probably not considered it worth their time to fix.  So, I suggest...

1. For a time, boycott Polo.  This means we now have only one real exhange-- Bter.  Kepp trying to pull people over there.  As volume of Qora trades rises on Bter, hopefully the loss of business will get polos attention.

2. Even if you haven't been affected directly by Polo's problem, send them a note and tell them that there is not a development problem with Qora and that if they are having issues, they can come here and ask questions.  Be nice, but inform them that until they fix this, you are taking your business elsewhere.

3. If you are one of the many who have sent money to Polo or withdrawn on a bad chain, you need to respond and let them know that lieterally everyone else is on a healthy chain and they need to get on the right chain and clean up their accounting books.  I, personally, would be very assertive, but would refrain from typical angry behavior (i.e. Swearing and name calling) because it shuts down the communication channels.  You have every right to be mad.  However, taking it out on them will only make them ignore you.  It's not worth it.

4. After we all start pulling away from polo, and if nothing get's better for a month, or so, we need to start an informational campaign.  There is a fine line between slander, and spreading truth in order to protect others.  If inspite all our efforts, polo refuses to fix their chain and books, others need to know.  This is a problem bigger than Qora.  All new coins need to get on exchanges in order to get noticed.  If polo doesn't respect it's users by not caring about being on a forked chain, and refuses to fix their accounts, then others need to know.  ShinyNewCoin may come along and polo might do the same to them.  If something like this happens to their coin before it gains any mass adoption, then it will tarnish that coin's reputation too.

TL;DR

Let's work together to make some noise and get Poloniex to get their house in order.

I still would like to hear some status updates Smiley.

@qora what is the status of the new wallet UI. I know you don't talk much in here but atleast some status percentage from time to time (e.g. 40% done) would be nice.
@AT Team what's your status, hope you will write status updates from time to time too Smiley.
