Just discovered this coin it seems like it would have much potential but I wonder why the code is closed. I'm nervous to buy until I know it's not a scam coin. Will Qora go open source soon?

Just check what Qora have been doing and you will be clear.
I don't make investments based on emotions or what people say on forums, I learnt the hard way even the most convincing developer can run off or have a Premine. I want to invest heavily of this really can compete with coins like NXT but I got to know if the code is safe or not, it's a basic question. I have read roughly through the thread and I saw many say it's NXT code based. I won't risk till I know that is not true, it's common sense.
Well, there are some facts that proves some things.
Pre - mine : I can't actually reply clear on this... I don't know if it is possible.After all the entire coin supply was
premined and distributed according to the
IPO.
Dev Runaway : The dev is right now active @ Qora chat.But a stronger evidence that dev didn't runaway is the
IPO address which confirms that.The total invested BTC amount has not been moved.
NXT Clone : So far there are not any proofs for that.We don't have a proof that is a clone but we also don't have a proof that is not a clone.Only if Qora goes open source and an auditor's review who is not involved in none of those two coins can ensure the result.
Actually as you stated investing with emotional criteria is totally wrong but on the other hand which is the criteria that ensures an investment in crypto currencies... even Satoshie runaway
Sure, there are some major understandings that they must be fulfilled before an investment in cryptocurrencies which is based according to the knowledge an investor can have.
I am not trying to convinced you to buy.. but my investment advice to you is that you can place a buy order at 1 sat and if it get's filled then you might have made a good investment.
