AFAIK, worksize just defaults to 64.

hi,, thanks angrydwarf
i was hopin that card got some increase in speeds.  im using I 18  or xi 128 + w64. is that maybe wrong intensity? or w? thanks in advance

EDIT: just figured you said R7260x Smiley is that like my old 6970 rebranded. i have 3 x 6950 and one 6970. im not sure are they worth for mining or just change it all for better cards.

Sounds like it is an upclocked HD 7790 with more VRAM. I usually get better results letting sgminer work out its own worksize, so try removing the w64 parameter. If you're lucky enough to have ADL capabilities (I haven't got it running headless on linux), you can also play with gpu and mem clock settings. Some algos work best at a gpu/mem clock ratio (scrypt likes about 60% gpu clock to mem clock, but that algo really is ASIC territory now).

Edit: Usual rules when playing with intensity is that it is too high if you get HW errors. Lower it so there are no HW errors. If there is then a high reject ratio, lower it a bit more.

hi

anyone knows if 2MH/s is best i should expect when mining x11 with radeon hd6970 XFX? or better than that?

thanks

I get about 1.5 MH/z stock settings on x11. OC'd on windows I can get 1.8 MH/s. This is with a radeon R7 260X.
EDIT: There are a lot of parameters to try tuning in sgminer, which can make a big difference.
This is what I am currenctly using for X11:
--intensity=20 --thread-concurrency=0 --gpu-threads=2
I seem to get better results using intensity rather than xintensity for this algo.

Im having issue to start mining in sgminer i am using intel windows 7 but the result
"the program can't start because opencl.dll is missing from your computer. try windows"

How can fix this?

reinstall the driver  or you missing AMD-APP-SDK  or the intel one for cpu

Install the driver from the main website. Most standard windows supplied drivers don't provide open-CL support.

This is the exact error message I get trying to build sgminer 5.2.1

Code:
 CCLD     sgminer
sgminer-algorithm.o:(.data+0x1058): undefined reference to `lyra2rev2_regenhash'
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status

This is fixable! Give me a minute, I'll clone NH's repo on Freya, check out the 5.2.1 tag, and do it myself so I can give clear, exact instructions on fixing it - I'll do a quick test on mining with it, too.

Thanks! Managed to FU my linux install trying to put on the full fglrx drivers from the .run file. Seems to be a problem with the xorg file but I can't work out what. Would be good to have ADL to OC the AMD card.

Didn't test mining, but add this to the end of Makefile.am and redo autogen.sh:

Code:
sgminer_SOURCES += algorithm/lyra2rev2.c algorithm/lyra2rev2.h algorithm/lyra2v2.c algorithm/lyra2v2.h algorithm/spongev2.c algorithm/spongev2.h

Thanks. Will give it a try once I've got my linux setup happy again.

Yes, that worked! It didn't solve my core dumping though. To solve that I've used the fglrx-core provided with the standard Ubuntu install, rather than using the one from the AMD site.

Try to make the setting in MSI Afterburner! If the cards are XFX try in triXX!

thanks for your time, it looks like there's a bug
had to uninstal it and reainstal

Resetting in AB worked for me. The only thing that worked for me.

Kind of a pretty weird bug, usually any fan issues i have don't persist through a restart, and definitely not through a driver reinstall. Whoever's deving this they're asus:

nicehash miner is nice, but now my GPUs won't cool themselves down when i'm not running the miner and they're hot, or the fans won't turn offdown when i'm not running the miner and they're cold. basically all i can do is wait for them to cool down and start and stop the miner quick to get them back to 30% so it's not a wind tunnel.

how can this be fixed?

more information: r9 290's, w/e driver is newest not beta, windows, w/e release is newest on github nicehash miner.

Doesn't go away after restarts or resetting settings.

I used it for maybe 20 minutes in total, and had no problems before this.

I can control fan speeds in speedfan, and everything works fine, but without that there's no control. even after a driver removal and reinstall.

How does one build a linux binary from a release tarball and not directly from the latest git clone?
I've found the windows 5.3.0 release binary to have a detrimental impact on the qubit algo compared to the 5.2.1 version. Not tried others yet.
Both the linux release brinay and a linux build core dumps on most algo's on my linux system, hence I would like to try to build the 5.2.1 version on linux.

Get it from tag 5.2.1:

https://github.com/nicehash/sgminer/tree/5.2.1

https://github.com/nicehash/sgminer/archive/5.2.1.tar.gz

Then follow this:

https://www.nicehash.com/index.jsp?p=software#amdgpu

Not much luck either way. Worse still, now even the 5.3.0 X11 algo core dumps, so now I have no working miner for my AMD card. The 5.2.1 tree won't compile (after copying the jansson sub module across), complaining about a lyra2re reference in algorithm.o.
Using AMD APP SDK 3.0, ADL 9.0, and latest fglrx-core AMD drivers on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. Main card is nvidia, and full fglrx wants to remove the nvidia drivers due to a shared xorg dependency. This means ADL doesn't actually work. But I can't understand why the X11 algo doesn't work now.
If I've git clone several sgminer versions into the same directory, removing them with rm -rf, has this confused git in some way? What would I need to do to clean it up?

I hear several algos break pretty bad on Tonga cards - which there are quite a few of, now. 285, 380, 380X...

What do you mean by that? Certain algo optimizations for Tonga aren't giving expected results? If so  Sad I have few Tongas, but haven't played with them enough. Couldn't start the optimized win-32-bit shit at all, on stock 64-bit sgminer Tonga hashes way slower comparing to Tahiti ... although temps rarely exceed 50 degrees
