Hint: nobody gives a fuck about decentralized storage, it's a non issue.

[...] because the real use case is something nobody cares for.

Apparently the people of RNDR have a different opinion about the matter: https://medium.com/@rendertoken/rndr-sia-edc39df03c31

The RNDR developers just announced their network of decentralized rendering will use the Sia storage network to save their rendering works data in a decentralized, cheap, encrypted and highly available fashion.

Because, you know, no one needs decentralized, cheap, encrypted and highly available storage nowadays...

https://sia.pixeldrain.com/

Pixeldrain Public Beta

First of all: the max size for a single file is currently 10 GB. There is no limit on how many files you can upload/download.

Note that this is an experimental version of Pixeldrain server, the Pixeldrain backend has been completely redesigned from the ground up to be more extensible, efficient and scalable. The server this web application runs on is considered a testing environment. Database resets can happen at any moment when architectural changes need to be applied.

The Sia integration is still very experimental and could fail at any moment resulting in data loss. Do not upload files to this server that you cannot afford to lose. Use the stable main server instead: https://pixeldrain.com.

But don't let all that stop you from trying the new Pixeldrain! The upload restrictions that the main site has haven't been implemented in this version yet, so you can upload as much as you want....

All these decentralizied storage solutions (there are several out there) suffers from bad client software. People need a good working and easy to use client like dropbox. Easy install, payment in FIAT and a competitive price. Nobody cares about complicated software payed with any you-name-it coin.

I agree with that. But it is also an important point on the roadmap of sia to provide a customer-friendly app.

i am a supporter of SIA and will be looking to become
a host in the near future.

I am also dissapointed on the face of its value to BTC
but as Hakkane states its what is going on in the background
that counts and judging from the roadmap there are still
works and plans in place so I AM NOT selling out.

I really think this has a good future its just taking longer
than most people perceived or maybe that quick get rich
factor didnt materialise as so often is wanted.

anyway I liked the technology from the start, it can only
get better as more updates and additions are added.

What happened with this coin?

It used to be popular, and now it keeps crashing   Embarrassed

It's dead, sell it before it goes to few satoshis.

All people that kept saying to hold and buy in the last 6 months, they lost like 90 % of their money, sell this asap.

Company only cares about selling miners for its coin.

Very bad investment.

I will quote each person telling me the opposite one month from now december first, when coin es dead.

I don't think that's entirely true. Most of the alts have been tanking over the last few weeks due to the bitcoin hard forks. First Bitcoin Gold, and in two weeks, the Segwit2x fork. I think people are hoarding BTC in the hopes of doubling their money. If it's still tanking at the end of Nov, then there may be cause for concern.

I totally agree with you almost all alts dipped low because of these forks after segwit Btc is st a high let's let the Btc dust settle first by the way I don't have many coins but just in case a dip I do have low buys ready going to give sia a chance if I can get it lower

Evaluating the status of a project by the price charts vs Bitcoin is a nosense, as Bitcoin has increased by 7x its value in the current year. It is like stating that you are driving backwards in a highway just because a faster car passed you by. If you compare the price vs FIAT, the value of SC has been moving in the range of 0.35-0.5 cents of dollar for several months.

Well put, and while I said that there may be cause for concern if the price plummets in December, it's on the understanding that Bitcoin's value tanks after the Segwti2x drama plays out, and people reinvest in alts. I'm invested in Sia - otherwise I wouldn't have ordered an Obelisk  Grin

Hint: nobody gives a fuck about decentralized storage, it's a non issue.

Sure, there are more contracts being signed right now, but the request of sia for those contracts is below 0.

This coin will keep going down and down, because the real use case is something nobody cares for.

I'd also tell all those people sharing their space on sia that they would make much more money with the same space mining burst, but if you're happy to buy at 50 sats just to sell at some point for 20, your choice.

Most people here want to speculate on Sia, not use it.

siacoin is incompatible with current prices, predictions will die and be analyzed according to charts in all markets. do not invest in siacoin because this coin will not grow. the information seen and heard is just a lie. before it's too late to think.

Support your claims of "the information seen and heard is just a lie" or it will be legit anyone calls you liar and FUDster from now.

The advantage of a transparent project as Sia is that anyone can validate all the data presented. Check for example my last posts: every piece of data is backed by a link. Which are your sources?

The only thing probably dead is the judgment skills of some people. It is like stating that you are driving backwards in a highway just because a faster car passed you by. But still, evaluating a project just by a price chart is dumb, and the biggest mistake of "investors" of the cryptosphere. Have you ever seen a Wall Street investor just looking stock charts exclusively and not quarterly reports, operational milestones and so of the companies he invests in?.

I posted this yesterday here, lets recap some facts:

14414 new transactions on the network yesterday: https://siastats.info/transactions.html

Yesterday we reached a new yearly record of active contracts, with a total of 71472 https://siastats.info/active_contracts.html

6 Pull Requests have been merged to the main code on the last 7 days: https://github.com/NebulousLabs/Sia/pulse . 24 merged Pull Requests and 90 closed Issues in the last month. This public progress report was made by the CEO of Nebulous and Core developer David Vorik 4 days ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/siacoin/comments/78nr20/development_and_progress_update/

"Has anyone used the services of SIa project" you ask, @savetytdpbl? With more than 95TB of storage usage, 3.2PetaBytes of offered storage (https://siastats.info/hosts_network.html) and more than 300TB of used storage in the history of Sia (https://siastats.info/total_contracts.html), I would say: Obviously yes, and very successfully so far>>

Quote me on December or whenever you wish. If you really think that the value the coin will have on December has any relevance, you don't understand anything about Sia or the cryptoshere in general. Sia has an ambitious roadmap for the next 18 months. Let the core developers fulfill it and then come back to see where Siacoin is in terms of value

It's a great eval of the project and investment and I agree. There's a solid model behind this, there's no 'cutting corners' with ICO's or other weird structures to gain quick. This also means we've to be patient and give the devs some time to work on this. I can imagine there's probably other stuff that needs to be done as well. Also, if you compare the speed of progress in the crypto world with actual successful corporates, it's still quite amazing how fast this goes! Good example for many corps Smiley

Did using Go have any major adavantages over other languages? I'm thinking the goroutines must be brilliant in this application, right?
