Yeah I think the Sia project is great but as a GPU miner, I'm obviously not a fan of the decision to introduce ASIC miners into the mix that can only mine Sia.

When you're looking to decentralise data storage through Sia, it doesn't really make sense to me that you would look to centralise mining through ASICs - but that's just my opinion.

Mining with A3 miners is going very well, we are currently doing it, and is our most profitable miners currently!
Difficulty is not pushing up as hard as everyone expected because as the A3's are coming online the GPU miners are pulling out so there is just replacement of hashing power and the network is more efficiently mined, less power to produce more coins. Really good for the network, just like what happened with mining dash.

Expecting difficulty to go up next month with the new batches being released but difficulty going up makes coins rarer and price will follow with a delay if it follows all the rules.

Interested to understand the Siafund and how it is linked to Siacoin, what are you buying with Siafund?
Are you buying shares in the actual business?

After Antminer A3 Miner to Mine Blake(2b) for Siacoin I don't see any good things come as expert with Sia Sad only price dump so hard.
I heard that diff for Sia increasing so hard daily and miners almost loosing with it. Any one can confirm?
You might be right! Antminer A3 will increase difficulty and total hashrates of the Sia network. GPU miners will feel dissapointed with this scenario, and price might witness significant falls. However, I also think that with new mechanism of difficulty adjustment launched some months ago, Antminer A3 will not put huge impacts on difficulty, which might be good news for miners.

I am not sure about this, and time will answer what it actually affect Sia network.

Sia is really developing well, many did not believe in the success of this project, now bite elbows..!

Development needs to accelerate at record levels for sia to become the standard. It sure will take a lot harder work/time/+additional devs than at current rates to place sia in the top 10 util coins.

Price may decide to follow accelerated developments, and may fall hardcore when its taking them to dang long to code and release a feature.

Dedication to code improvement and faster new releases is a must DO here.... Then we shall visit the moon together....

The trend is maintained downward. I think that we should wait until the middle of March. Then, it will be seen.

What does the SEC has to do with the press note you are sharing about Siaberry? Again you are confused and, importantly, you are confusing other users mixing two independent and unrelated news:

- A third-party company called Siaberry (siaberry.com, they sell RaspberryPi kits to run a hosting node in Sia), independent from Nebulous, has partnered with BITCF.

- The company that develops Sia, Nebulous Inc. (sia.tech), is going to release a Tokenized Securities Offer for selling a portion of their tokens "SiaFunds". They are doing this in compliance with SEC rules, so only accredited investors will be able to opt in.

wait what is siafunds? ...i'm confused how bitmain / obelisk ties into this siafunds need for more funds lol :-D  hmmm ===> Tudor Investment Corporation links ?

the company behind SIA is BITCF?  Roll Eyes  SC is going to crash hard = SEC investigation~ meh

That is totally false. The company that develops the Sia code is Nebulous Inc.

You are mixing a press note concerning a third-party company developing a product in top if Sia, Siaberry, with the actual developers of the Sia code that are selling the TSO for SiaFunds, Nebulous Inc.

you read the SEC publishment ? it's from last August lmfao Smiley weee

$BITCF siacoin news!!!

BTW, I already mentioned it as part of the previous answer, but as this si a big announcement, it deserves its own post.

Nebulous (the company behind Sia) is making a Tokenized Securities Offering of 750 units of SiaFunds, the second token of the Sia network. You can quickly understand what a SiaFund is in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=3&v=ivPGc1N3w_8 This will raise funds to keep the Sia development.

The Offering will be open in a date to be determined in March to qualified investors of several countries. The selling scheme will be a Dutch auction, similar to the IPO of Google. This is a very unique opportunity, as only 10 000 SiaFunds exist and only 1250 were in circulation right now (sold during the original IPO 3 years ago). A 3.9% of all the file contract costs are paid as a dividend to the owners of SFs.

This is the announcement post: https://blog.sia.tech/

And this is the website to register for the TSO: https://siafunds.tech/

I missed some of the news regarding Bitman Sia ASICs. Is Sia modifying the code to block them, or are Obelisk owners now going to see lower returns due to Bitman beating to the finish line?

Sia is not modifying the code to block them, and decided they would only do so if ASIC decided to harm the network with say a 51% attack. So yes, this will mean lower rewards on the Obelisk.

I am 'mentally' preparing myself for my FIVE Obelisk SC-1's arriving in FULL DOORSTOP mode. Sad

Thus, as a reminder, if that is the case, to leave them UNOPENED, in that the cardboard slides easier for doorstop use, if left in the cardboard box. Sad

I DID however get ONE FREE Decred miner (2nd batch of those) for my FIVE $800 buck coupons. Someone much bigger than me, got 4 units with

those coupons and spot'd me the 800 bucks and last coupon for the free decred miner....(sorry, me of little faith I punted)

I was actually a nice guy and tried to talk him out of it..but he is a big miner and badly needed the equip write off...thus he 'tossed a hail mary pass'

Anyway, I guess it would be really, really hard for me NOT to ROI on that ONE decred unit..but as of now...how I'm looking at this somewhat in 20/20

hindsight 'dubious' investment...(oh well, got it when price of BTC was high, tax man would have gotten 50% last year and/or with 25% equipment

equipment deduction (5 year compressed to 1 year on taxes I paid last year in real $$$) ...so I really only have to have the FIVE units make 25% of

cost back, AFTER electric to call it a wash.....

but, still thinking doorstops for the Obelisk SC-1's with Bitmain's involvement...(it is how they roll...toaster city till your cypto is worthless vs difficulty)

(sorry, in a mood) Sad

Siacoin is in the running to be listed on Binance as part of their 'community coin of the month'.

With all the news around Siafunds this is a great opportunity to expand Siacoin's exposure further by being listed on such a large exchange. I for one will be voting for Siacoin to be listed!

i also vote for SC on binance  Wink

that would be a great success for Siacoin if binance listed the coin.
if binance doesnt add SC, kucoin would be a very good alternative as well.

I was reading the whitepaper and It seems to have an interesting business plan. It could be a good investiment!

this could still be true...but the sia-tech network can work just DANDY on Bitmain Units in mass (shipping now and in the world) and/or more in mass

(As is Bitmain's forte! Kicking them out like Toasters!) Sad

Thus, sia-tech and its decentralized storage network could be quiet ROBUST w/o any of their Obelisk SC-1 products even being involved....only Bitmain

units by July...driving up difficulty etc....

so yeah, the protocol could be just fine....the folk that got the Obelisk SC-1 units...er not so much, by the time they actually ship..it could all be moot!

SC team not interested in higher SC coin price as it will do hard way to sell their storage as it will not be so attractive any more. I do not understand SC team at all with mining rigs. Why sell Obelisk and then joke in face of people who bought it and let market be overtaken with Bitmain. Difficulty of mining will become way to high for a Obelisk.
