I have now set 1 sp20 and 1 antminer s-3  one 1 evga 1300 g2

pulling 1043 watts for the two units 426 gh for the s-3 and 1322 for the sp20   so 1043 watts gives me 1748 gh .

I was thinking 1152 watts and 1650-1700 gh using an evga 1600 p2

this is much better.

Edit:
Just note that under very low fan settings you might stress the back side of the miner and it can cause termal shutdown.  Theoretically it should work since the system scales on both dc2dc and asic temperature. be careful when touching the back side of the miner - it can become very hot

Is the startup asic voltage also the minimum voltage for temperature scaling.. or can it go lower than that?

Watch out for the "Neg-Rep-Dogie-Police".....
My SP20 came with firmware v2.5.26 but I see there is a newer v2.5.27 - what does the update address & is it worth updating?

Peace  Smiley

PS: Excellent piece of kit these SP20's - well done SP-Tech.

Is there anyway to cut the fan speed to less than 40?  I plan on under clocking and am interested in reducing noise.

edit /etc/mg_custom_rate via ssh

looks like this is a new file

miner-FL1444045011# ls mg* -1
mg_custom_mode
mg_custom_mode_sp20
mg_custom_mode_sp30
mg_disabled_asics
mg_disabled_asics_sp20
mg_disabled_asics_sp30
mg_generic_psu
mg_psu_limit
mg_try_12v_fix
mg_work_mode
miner-FL1444045011#

What is the format to include the 30% fan rate?

My bad. Check mg_custom_mode. It's human readable.

Even better you could just change the PHP file so that you don't have to keep manually editing  the mg_custom_mode_sp20 file...

Old code
Code:

New code
Code:

You can find this in /var/www/SP2x/settings.php around line 312 in Sp20 firmware version 2.5.27.. or you could probably just search the file for fan_speed_select.

I don't run the coolest cold aisles in the world and I'm suprised at this last order of SP 20's hitting 1650 gh stable. Very content customer on this last round. The first batch I cannot get past 1545 GH. Watts fan everything at max. I even swapped placment with the new one to see if I have a bigger airflow problem then I already know is brewing up. But same results, just better Asics I suppose.

after seeing my results try under clock and under volt

I am using 747 watts to get 1380gh

I will run one from the October and one front this batch with your settings later tonight. Had to go to the regular job.

The SP20 can be under-clocked to ~0.5 J/GH, depending on cooling and specific ASIC batch.

Cooling?
Ambient temperature.

any specifics? it has to be hot (>25C), cold (<18C) or in a specific range?

Measurements were done with Emerson 1600.
It offers (according to spec) minimal efficiency of 92% in our tested working points @25C ambient.

It could be that these fans don't even start to spin up till they get a certain amount of voltage equivalent to 40 on the UI.

.55 watt per gh damn good

 744 watts for 1350 gh = 0.552 watts per gh  I am using an evga 1300 g2

fabulous. i bought the evga 1600 80+ gold ( i like some head(room) )  Tongue so i'll see what sort of numbers i can get with that, when it arrives*

*funny private joke.    Cheesy

I think you could run 2 units on that psu

well, it's like this.. once i'm done doing what i'm doing with it at home, it's going into a unit i have millions of miles from the earth where it will mine eternally on free electric.. so i'll be cranking it up to 11, and reckoned i'll need good headroom in the PSU... then again, you have me thinking, it may be worthwhile trying that PSU with 2 units... hmmm, indecision.
