I wonder how much those SP-20s are going to go for?

http://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/spondoolies-tech-introduces-sp20-jackson-1-7-ths-home-miners/

Quoted in part:
Hash Rate: 1.7 th/s +/- 5%, Over Clockable to 1.8 th/s, 8 ASIC Chips
Power Consumption: 1100 watts at the wall with a Gold rated, 90% efficiency PSU suggested
Power connections: 4x PCIe
Smaller Form Factor 1/3 size of the SP30, 60dB or less estimated

Almost exactly what I was asking for:

I'd be much happier with a 2 TH/s 2U unit where you didn't have to run the PSUs at 110% and have to run them on 220V to get their full performance. 2 TH/s in 2U is plenty dense for any hosting facility.

Sell it from stock (for the right price of course) and I'm in!

http://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/spondoolies-tech-introduces-sp20-jackson-1-7-ths-home-miners/

Quoted in part:
Spondoolies-Tech is releasing a new miner named the SP20-Jackson that will start shipping in October. They are doing this to help fill the gap in the mining industry for the home and smaller mining farm market. Many companies have become sensitive about mining becoming too expensive and too centralized. Spondoolies-Tech, with the introduction of the SP20 Bitcoin ASIC Miner, is addressing that concern. The specs of the SP20-Jackson fall in the mid range end of miners and are better suited to being housed at home.

Specifications as of press time:

Hash Rate: 1.7 th/s +/- 5%, Over Clockable to 1.8 th/s, 8 ASIC Chips
Power Consumption: 1100 watts at the wall with a Gold rated, 90% efficiency PSU suggested
Power connections: 4x PCIe
Smaller Form Factor 1/3 size of the SP30, 60dB or less estimated

I asked Gadi Glikberg of Spondoolies-Tech about the announcement and what he had to say was pointed as he and Guy Corem always are.

As I’m sure you know, a lot of people have declared home mining to be a thing of the past.

That however is only true if home miners do not have access to the most efficient ASIC in the market.

To help spread the hash rate, we are preparing to launch the SP20 – Jackson. A home mining unit that puts the power back in the hands of home miners. We’ll start taking pre-orders for October delivery‏.

The power to gh/s ratio is creeping down across the board. This lower power requirement makes it easier for home users to run the miners while keeping the hash rate up. The announcement comes on the heels of the SP30 reveal in August. The SP30 runs at 4.5 th/s and 2900 watts at the wall on 220v. While the SP30 is the top miner in the wild right now, the smaller footprint and power consumption of the SP20 will be attractive to many that can’t afford the larger SP30. The SP31-Yukon is the successor to the SP31 runs at a blistering 5.5 th/s at 2800 to 3000 watts as the wall and is also shipping in October. The specifications of both the SP20 and the SP31 are impressive to say the least.

With Spondoolies-Tech’s SP20 and SP31 on the market at the same time, they should be able to offer the range of miners demanded by home and larger users. Spondoolies-Tech is not resting; they are actively working on many projects and as Zvisha stated:

Well, I sleep a lot less, but it is fun. I am working on three generations of our product at the same time; I don’t think I would do that in any other company. SP10 went on the market six months ago, and it became end-of-life after four months. That is crazy. The competition is so strong and dynamic, if you stop for one month you can be out of the game.

Can Spondoolies-Tech get some money like KNC did and sell from stock next time? So none of this waiting or "shipping in September" and then shipping starts September 30th. KNC is getting out of selling mining hardware to consumers all together. They want the big money. Hard to resist SP-TECH? I say within the next year you'll start mining yourselves, if you already haven't. We don't know. With all those SP30's around, why not power some on and get a return? It is the way of mining manufacturers. They all have started mining on their own since selling hardware is a pain in the ass. Come on, you can tell us. You've surveyed a couple of buildings for your data center, no? Smiley

Having a bunch doesn't improve anything.  efficacy is same for one machine - as it is for this bunch.  Fact is, he is barely breaking even same as everyone else.  Only the guys stealing electricity will prevail.

Oh so true! With a network hash rate of currently 216.6 PH/s and next difficulty in the area of 31.5B we can see where this is going. As said before I'm really impressed by Spondoolies-Tech and their products, unfortunately not even at 0.55 W/GH (off the wall) it's possible to reach a positive ROI any more if not having free energy (and again and again, THERE IS NO FREE ENERGY, period!).

We need the new tech, more TH at less W and lower price! It's all going to hell too fast, I'm really wondering how large mining farm are going to make a profit considering all costs involved with decreasing mining reward and current low FIAT exchange rates.

without mining bitcoin is a boring exercise, like investing in stocks or mutual funds. It will be not a very interesting proposition. I think that, if btc price does not improve, many people will be out of mining by Jan, Feb. Cloud mining is a joke that is designed to take money from people who cannot count, so it is not a path forward.
Edit: as soon as I posted this-news re SP-20 (Jackson, 1.7Th ) appeared on cryptocoinnews (ZeroBlock). Not here yet, Guy/Gadi.
1100 W, so i can repurpose my evga, 4PCIe connectors, just 60dB. Price has to be right, though.

Waiting for BTC/USD rate to rocket up to $800-$900. Then a lot of us would be more happy. This $4xx range is pooey.

Extremely low cost and effective deployment method. Behind the SP30s are huge fans.

I'd hate to be the one that paid that invoice. If he's not getting free electricity it is a tough pill to swallow. UNLESS Mr. Cowboy got such an exceptional price from buying so many. It is kind of cool seeing so many of them together. He must of took out all the marijuana plants and lights and started a bitcoin venture. Smiley

I will change the configuration that we ship the miners to be 1300W by default.
This way the clients will get the units running at safe rate, without failures, but it will take about 1%-2% of their maximum hash rate. After the client made sure the miner is working, and he has access to the miner for a few hours, he can increase it up to 1350W in settings page and let the system learn.

I suggest something higher than 1300. A sample of some of the machines we received earlier today, after 10 hours and having stabilized their power consumption:

Hashrate, Top max watts, Bot max watts
4559 1345 1350
4431 1340 1350
4507 1335 1350
4535 1340 1355
4458 1350 1340
4470 1340 1345
4568 1360 1350
4670 1350 1340 (record holder, fastest I've seen)
4565 1350 1350
4461 1340 1345
4294 1355 1350 (LOOP[7] OFF (no data on loop) -- fixed by a power cycle, now 4521 1355 1350)
4530 1340 1345
4564 1345 1355
4589 1345 1360
4553 1345 1335
4494 1345 1345
4553 1360 1350
4549 1340 1345
4455 1340 1335

We probably have better cooling and power in our facility than most people, but even so, I would guess most SP30s in most buildings should be able to handle 1320W or 1330W as a default starting point. I actually vote for keeping the starting point at 1360W, because I think that the overclocking algorithm is awesome. But that's just me.

I'd love to see some pictures of all your gear running. How many cages did you use for all 37 of them? How many can you shove in one rack? How's the temperature been stable since you have been adding lots of sultry hardware? Don't forget the ear protection. One of my co-workers worked in the head-end (that's what some cable companies call their computer rooms full of switches and gear) and never used ear protection. He lost about %40 of his hearing over time and didn't even notice until it was too late since it happened slowly. And there are signs all over the place warning to use ear protection. Derrrrr.

Looks nice but I'm interested to know exactly how effective.

Do you have a total hashrate for those machines?

Zvi, Miners, Apart of the voltage what is a good temperature?
At the moment I have:

Temp Front / Back T,B
33 °C / 80,80 °C

Its on high side but still ok. At the back over 85 is high, over 90 i think is thermal shutdown

Ok, got it - thank you Zvi!
I changed the voltage settings to 1350 and is now at 77 at the back.

I will set it to 1330. After that the client can change to new number. I don't think this is the reason for DOA PSUs, which we see in about 0.5%-0.7%, but this way I will know if the miner arrived problematic to the client or became problematic after the scaling algorithm.
