so we have to undervolt/modify it to even get 4500gh??  please tell me i read that wrong!
also, ignoring legitimate critics is kinda classy...
i asked a specific question and all ive read is childish responses to a dimwit - where are MY answers??
jimmothy - would you REALLY send these guys more money?
no matter what they say, im done & VERY, VERY disheartened!!
i feel as though KnC have relocated, changed their names and started all over again in israel.
SAME shit, different what???

I do not ignore "legitimate critics", people who actually bought our products or people who ask questions.
i am here to communicate with current and potential customers, not idiots and trolls.

I don't owe anything to anyone else.

Hey everyone,
Got my SP30 today, and am having some issues. The miner turns on and all lights turn on, etc. However, I can't connect to the device. I've tried scanning for it locally to which nothing came up- router didn't even recognize it and I tried using myminer.io as well which found nothing. I tried it on two completely different networks, one with 10.0.1.x and 192.168.1.x and even ethernet to ethernet on two different computers. The serial cable that came with it is serial to serial which is no use to me. Think I was supposed to receive a serial to usb, but I didn't. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Please contact Spondoolies support and we will resolve your problem tomorrow (but not now since its 4AM here, sorry).
Describe what lights come on - ethernet lights or green and yellow near uSD.

Regards

It is crappy for miners these days. No one can tell the future, that I'm sure of but as more hashing power is added to the network that only lowers your return. If it is hardware you haven't received yet, no matter how efficient it is, don't expect too much. So much talk about efficiency....if it isn't hashing and making a return who cares. I know, I need to be more pessimistic.

I appreciate Guy giving us his perspective on mining difficulty and where he thinks it is going. Even though Guy is biased, he seems like a pretty straight shooter with more information about other manufacturers than most of us so it's nice to have another data point.

I also hope Guy is right about Bitfury almost losing money on their Georgia and Iceland data centers. Otherwise, we're all doomed and Bitfury will rule the BTC mining world.

Collectively, it is possible for too much money to be invested into Bitcoin mining, and the difficulty would overshoot so that all but the most efficient miners end up losing money. Sadly, unless the price of BTC rises soon, I fear that we're almost at that point and there will be a lot of pain for miners in the near future.

I'm trying to make the math work on an October SP31 hosted with jtoomim, but just can't make the numbers work out on a risk adjusted basis.

It might be prudent to sit on the sidelines (with some BTC in hand to hedge against a sharp price increase, of course) and see how things play out over the rest of the year.

That's what a lot of people do. They try to make the numbers work for them. It is like believing in something that isn't true. Fudge a number here and there and boom, ROI in one year and you can buy a lunch from McDonald's with your profit. Only from the value menu though. In reality it really sucks now. The last month changes have almost kicked me out of the game completely. I'm all for switching my co-location provider to toom.im to save here and there, but getting my father to move his butt has been a challenge.

you can undervoltage it too and then it's more effisient. Can go to 0.5W/G I think.
In emersion cooling it gives more hash because it doesn't need fans, less ASIC leakage and dc2dc more efficient.

So how much is the final compensation? $1500?

Since you clearly aren't one of their customers ('cause then you'd know), the answer to your question is:

None of your business.

You should ask him about his AM dividends...

Anyone who invested in AM has already been paid back their original investment of 0.1 six times over. Has anyone who bought a spondoolies product even turned a profit yet?

The reason I want to know the final compensation is because it will influence my opinion on how the company handles a major fuckup and whether I will consider buying from them in the future.

I must ask, how can you have absolutely no shame? You sold ~200 overpriced miners which will never turn a profit (unless your SP-tech) and you deem it a huge success.

I think that even the slow-corner ASICs of our first batch are currently the most power efficient in the market and one of the most competitive in $/Gh. That is impressive fuckup I would say. Don't bother answering since you been added to ignore list.
I think the Neptune is more efficient isn't it?

I stand corrected.

They guaranty 3000 for 1950W = 0.65W/G.  on 20nm
We   guaranty 4350 for 3000W = 0.67W/G.  on 28nm and with slow corner

Still not a fuckup.

wait a minute here, what is this...we guarantee 4350?
where is that came from?
isn't it 4500?

Our avarage is 4500, but it can go up to 5% ether way based on the ASICs you got. +-5% we guaranty.

Why is it that SPtech is the only company that is affected by this "super slow corner" debacle? Does TSMC really not like you guys or something? Have you tried asking for the ultra-extreme-quick-corner asics?

Bitfury could achieve 0.38w/gh at the chip with their 55nm chips, are your asics really more efficient?

As for competitive $/gh, I don't know how you can even argue that. Has there ever been a time where SPtech hardware was not ~20% more expensive than the competition?

You guys were asking $12,000 for an sp30 shipped in the beginning of august.. If you tried selling SP30's from stock for $2/gh you would be laughed at.

I implore you to show me your overly optimistic calculations which give any SP30 a chance at ROI. (preferably using a semi-realistic calculator like btcinvest.net)

Yes they came with it.

Could someone help me with selecting appropriate mounting ears, please?
Some ebay or amazon link please?

Also, as we know the units are stackable and have great airflow but I am still a bit a concerned about extra heat coming up from the unit below to the unit stack on top of it. Do you know how good the heat insulation is?
If the top surface gets too hot I could try to mount them in such way that there would be a bit af space between the units so they are not directly stack ip on each other.

if I am not mistaken, according to the manual the sp30 bring mounting ears.

It is written in the description "2 U rack mountable (mounting ears required)"

Could someone who already got an SP30 please mention if you received mounting ears?
