I'd like to review one, if it becomes available.

As for other miners, and even these SP10/SP30, I have always intended to put them all on digital timers that power cycles them at least once a day. Say, turn them off for 1 or 2 minutes, then turn them on again.

I am not sure whether there will be actual physical units shipped with those (not yet fully engineered) chips, but again, time will tell.

As most people are aware of, home mining is slowly coming to an end and most hardware is placed in hosting facilities /datacenters nowadays.

As margins are getting lower (for both miners and manufacturers), completely managed hardware should be even cheaper to maintain if done correctly, and this might be one way to sell these future generations of mining gear.

What are the specs of the SP50? And Guy, Stas, Can I get on the review list for that one?
There is no announcement for the sp50 yet. People have only come up with that product name by adding 20 to Sp30.

What has been announced is that spondoolies is working on an improved 28nm chip, which is not going to be finished before end of the year/start of next year.

The exact method of sale is still as unclear as possible specs (though efficiency will likely be better than the current 28nm chips).

There have been hints that it won´t require pre-order though, so I do not see the need for anyone to review it (although spondoolies might / will likely still grant review access)

That should take care of any potential problems when you are not available (or you are taking a vacation.)

Run a Bitcoin node.
I had a similar issue with an sp10 today.

It was mining for over 3 months (and about 2 months at that datacenter) and got stuck somehow.

After the DC power cycled it, everything is working as usual.

This hasn´t ever happened with that miner in over 3 months, so I guess a small crash once in a while is no big problem (your desktop PC probably crashes more often than that, and it isn´t on 24/7).
I had my SP10 stop mining last week after being rock solid 24/7 since May. Power cycle fixed it and it's a rock star again.

Clueless!
400$ hosting is by no way representative of the best (or even average for that matter) hosting cost for that specific piece of hardware.

Hosting provided by spondoolies in their Israel DC is meant as a short-term solution only, and is basically provided at-cost.

$400 is the 3 month rate   short term is $500
You have missed the point.

See highlighted text.

No matter the contract period, it is not meant as a permanent solution.

No, because the machine costs more to host than revenue it earns

what do you do with it then? Too noisy for home and no 240v available

If what you say is true it does not pay at this time to buy any miner from any asic manufacturer ....as to the home use...well noisy I give you
and you can run it at 120v but if your premise is true..miners can't ROI with hosting due to bitcoin price

well then home mining is dead and not specific to spondoolies or the sp30

Dear Customers,

Today, August 19, our Data Center will undergo a series of tests by the Standards Institute of Israel.

These test will be done to make sure that our data center is up to the highest standards for safety and quality.

Should the miners experience any downtime due to these tests we will compensate you with an additional hosting day at our expense.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Regards,

The Spondoolies-Tech Team

same hash rate and efficiency as 240?
Please stop trolling the thread.

If you actually own an sp30 I have offered it safe shelter as you are obviously a danger to innocent mining equipment.
I would rather destroy it

Otherwise please keep ignoring basic electrical engineering in other threads.

Is it trolling if I reply to comments directed at me? The hash rate question was directed at roadstress who said it already works at 110 on spec, I thought it didn't. Apparently I was mistaken

Or consider hardware that is more appropriate for 120v in a condo and can actually roi

There is no legal way to get 240 where I live and I certainly don't want the NOISE

Then this product (SP30) is not aimed for you. Why are you still lurking here then? What's your purpose? I don't think SP-Tech will make the miner less noisy right now so nothing can change except the pricing. I don't understand what do you actually want.

Less noisy
ROI probable + profitable
works on 110 at spec
in stock (no pre-order)

1. won't happen
2. ok
3. already works
4. wait for sp50

You are on a post hunting it seems.

what's a post hunting? i can set up a new account just for you if this one is posting too much.

I see no big problem in the pricing of spondoolies product, and the fact that they are sold out more than one month in advance speaks for itself (from an economical standpoint).

I have to disagree.

Spondoolies really needs to keep up with the competition. They were asking $0.94/gh while Bitmain and AM are offering $0.6/gh.

I really doubt most sp30s are sold at non-negotiated prices.

I have highlighted the relevant text for you. Why is it so hard to accept that some people like to pay extra for various things. In this case I have no problem paying a little extra for a compact and robust case and no wire mess. I do consider that paying a bit extra will still bring me ROI and I have yet to see a regular miner setting up his S3s in a DC. I know there are people that personally set them up in their DC, but I haven't seen a long distance relationship like I'm having with Advania.

I expect average 15% increases for the short term, not sure where i said 80. Where did I state no miner will roi? please quote.

Read my last post again. I said 80% for 2 months, not per difficulty jump. Here is where you said that no miner will ROI:

hope your well built miner cost less than 3.2BTC because it will be a paperweight by new years if its hosted

In your difficulty projection you are stating that in 2 months from October to December we will have more than the total current hashpower added to the network. I find that highly unlikely, but I don't mind people making wrong projections. It means that I will earn more bitcoins.

that was only in reference to sp30 as that is the equipment we were discussing in the spondoolies thread not speculation sub-forum, dont try to mis-quote me.

You have made plenty of wrong projections. I prefer to remain conservative and avoid making foolish decisions like pre ordering hardware that can never roi, ends up way under performance and way over power usage.

16.8% is the current average, maybe that will change but there is a lot of spondoolies hardware to deliver still among others

EDIT: Please don't pm me when replying to a post of mine, if I want to reply I will

Because you and mostly roadstress keep littering the forums about hoe SP30 is the only miner anyone should buy (paraphrasing)

If you
a) have no idea what to do with your purchased hardware or
b) even through resources provided for free by the community cannot figure out how to provide electricity to your miner,

I suggest you might consider something else than bitcoin mining.

I hope you are not purposefully being stupid here.

You either host it at home or you purchase hosting froom one of the many miner-friendly or miner-dedicated hosting facilities.

One of these offers can be found literally a few posts earlier in this thread.

You said hosting is a short term solution... so what to do after hosting costs more than the machine earns in december? Its not coming to my condo
