notice how quick they are to respond to posts here???  unlike the much preferred 'email support@'

After all the back & forths - Apr 16, 10:50

Dear Ed,

We have reviewed your situation (DOA board was in fact DOA) and would like to resolve the issue with your machine by sending you a fully tested SP20 (weeks later). This will save going back and forth (seriously???) about the different parts(more than we already have).

I know you already sent the management board (amazing). Please ship the machine back to us at our cost and we will send you a new (newly 'repaired' after being RMA'd) machine.

(make sure you send it first though, and wait..... because we dont trust you not to rip us off somehow & need to scrape every penny we can)

ugh..

notice i didnt even mention the 150USD coupon they cant wont honour, despite repeatedly trying to squeeze ridiculous amounts of USD out of me (and others) at every 'opportunity'...

Did Bitmain take over or something??

not even a fkn t-shirt!!

Nor an apology...

Anyone have experience asking spondoolies to ship the miner from their USA datacenter? It's been 10 days since I paid for the shipping and the miner is still in their hands, and plugged out. That's $120 out the window. Unacceptable tardiness.

Still nothing, this is ridiculous. 17 days since the miner should have been shipped, and no reply from support after three enquiries. Are spondoolies mining with my unit? At what point can I demand compensation for the downtime?

There's a mis-communication between Titan, DHL, and ourselves which we hope to resolve today. We will continue to update you.

After one trouble after another it was time for something different, so one of my psu of SP30 has been died. Its a new unit only 2 months old.
I cant contact spoondolie I think as I had buy it from ebay. Any suggestion how to get a new psu? Can I just use some other psu like EVGA 1300? I can make the right cables.

any suggestion is welcome.
thanks.

Generic PSU will only work if you set 'generic psu'  flag in /etc/mg_generic_psu.  We had insisted on some bug fixes to the stock emerson fw. Without it you must use it as generic.  Ask on forum from people who did it.

A update for the sp20 would be nice, where you can set a goal hashrate and the device adjusts itself to it. Is it possible?

contact spondoolies as to info on the correct psu that you need.  See if they will sell one to you.  If the price is too high look for it elsewhere   that gear uses server psus not atx like the evga 1300

After over 2 weeks of non-support, i was finally permitted to return the DOA already RMA'd board back yesterday.

hopefully the next one wont be a dud, and if it is the returns process hopefully wont be so prolonged like this time.

Allright,

RMA is close, Unit will be on my way tomorrow (I guess).

Hope I can hash a bit more coins with it ;-)

In an act of good faith they replaced one of my faulty board that had a short on the first ASIC (0) causing the ASIC (1) to not usable.

The replacement board has also a bad ASIC 0 but I will be able to use the ASIC 1.

Thanks you for this !

It wasn't tested before shipping back to you?

The unit will be shipped tomorrow. It has already been tested.

Glad it works!  Yea next time if you have a choice ask for original box.  It's possibly one of the best designed boxes on cardboard surrounding the SP20.  They put some time/thought into it.
I haven't seen the boxes for the SP-20, but if it's anything like the ones for the SP-31/35, I would agree. Those boxes are awesome, perfect fit and sturdy as hell.  I saved those for sure for if/when I need to ship mine out in the future.

I keep saying these are the bets built ready to rock miners on the market. Period.

In my short time to mess with bitcoin mining, ( I go all out or not at all) I got antminers, spondoolies and some other smaller rigs.
Spondoolies is by far the best built and easiest to manage out of the box , antminers are second.

The design of the S5 really is poor IMO unless you're in a data center and have adequate cooling and no noise issues. For home mining it's poor.
IMO the S3/S3+ are much better designs, even though they have less hash rate and less efficiency.

Spondoolies, you can adjust to low hash rates while sipping tiny aounts of electricity and set eth fan to low where even in close proximity it is not even as loud as an S3.

There is no doubt about it they are great miners.  I love my SP gear.   And I will stick with my story of best designed box.

They are only company I have seen use cardboard designed for it, vs some plastic packing holding it.

I doubt there will be a lot there.  Most don't open the SP20 as it loses warranty if you do.   Chances are you would have been better off contacting ebay/mail over it being damaged in shipping.

Did they ship it in original box?  The original box does a good job of protecting the miner.

Nope, just a used box with a few wraps of thin wrapping paper.  Shipped US Mail Parcel Pool with no insurance. Just finished new thermal paste on the loose heat sinks and melted some 3M hot glue over the original.  The only issue now is that it requires the micro-SD card to boot.  Other than that it works great !  Next time ?  Original box with insurance !
