hosted 10 km of my home, if i reboot for any reason it is incognite if the sdcard will be ok or not.
and i normally work remote, so i must go there.
yes they sell for 150$ ... but it really cost that ?
and it is not matter if it cost big or not.
it is matter of warranty product or not.
why you reboot, why you touch firmware. If mining rig work don't touch rig.this is money make machine not toy.

I also can share my experience with RMA
I bought some units SP20 in last days february.
In the second week I was trying to get the bestperformance from my SP20 and I downgraded to 2.5.12, with utility in web manager.
After this, my SP20 is not more SP20. It shows like a SP10 in webmanager and not mining.
Tried recovery sdcard, flashing ok, got chritsmas lights but really dont work.
Tried boot up SDcard and it works ok.
Tried with controlboard from other sp20 and works ok.
support take one hour to test and check, and it conclusion is "unable to boot from internal flash, boots successfully from SD, boot problem not recoverable from remote".

so I asked a warranty replace for controlboard, because it is not the original condition work.
The answer from Barbara is:
"... our policy not to replace machines that work with SD card reboot... "

My reply is that machine must work like original, and with more reason, it is damaged because a fail from upgrade firmware system (i get the upgrade with a nonvalid firmware for SP20).
sp20 can work for some days, but if I reboot the machine I am not sure if this is going to work or the SD will be corrupted ... just a incognite and I have a misvalued and problematic miner.
spondolies support recognise "...work with an SD it's not as reliable as the internal ..."

My goal is get a new controlboard, not the complete sp20, but they refuse to do it.
Imagine you can not boot your computer from harddisk and only with pendrive ... imagine you can only start your car if the door is open ... imagine ... you can imagine lots of situations but when a product is not working as original and it represent a value lose  I think it must be fixed.
So I ask people and spondoolies guys in this forum your opinion about this.
Do you think this is the correct policy from spondoolies ?

how often do you reboot? If it runs with a BootSD it should be stable indefinitely (unless a power disruption or reboot mucks the sd card and you have to re-image it again)

most of my hardware runs weeks or months once its plugged in and configured. The control board probably costs SP-T something like $150 so its easy to see why they are hesitant to ship you one when a $5 sd card does the trick

Anyone have experience asking spondoolies to ship the miner from their USA datacenter? It's been 10 days since I paid for the shipping and the miner is still in their hands, and plugged out. That's $120 out the window. Unacceptable tardiness.

I remember back in the USB miner days, one guy I bought a Block Erupter from offered to mine using your pool info until your miner arrived. I thought that was quite reasonable offer, and a real inducement to buy from him rather than somebody else. You think you clear $12/day with an SP20 in profit? I am surprised by that.

Don't know why you assumed it was a SP20. It's a SP30 @ 4.7 Thps. And it's revenue, not net profit, but I might have to pay for the dead time anyway because the original deal with the new hosting center was from the start of april, so that would make it a sheer loss.

Maybe Easter had something to do with this, but still, that's only three working days off, they still have had plenty of time.

The SP20's I've been buying from members on this forum have all been running until they shipped on my pools by the sellers. (Thanks to all again) which IMO is a very nice thing.

An SP20 per day running at normal speeds (let's say 1500GH/s) should earn you about $3.80+- a day with FREE power.

True .. in a way. But considering that the data center can ship it somewhere else by mistake if they rush it .. better slow and safe than sorry.

Any help regarding sp3x?

Need to know how they manage with ambient around 30-35 degrees Celsius. Summer time....

I looked around and found nothing.

Anyone? Anything?

Thank you!

You will not be able to run it at full speed, but if you downclock it just a bit you should be fine. I don't see any issues that might arise if you are running it at max 4Th/s.

Sure they'll run at full clocks, I've tested the SP30 and SP35 at 40C and even then they're not even close to thermal limits. The chips will clock themselves down if they can't take it, and those PSUs are absolutely insane. Depends on which ones you have, but the data sheets I saw were something like 50C ambient @ 100% load, 65C @ 60% load.

Is there a better heat tolerant miner anywhere? I'm not sure, but I can't think of one.

*And most importantly, to secure the salaries of core devs so they can continue their work unimpeded with politics or fund raising. .... Yeah, that turned out well.

The purpose and the way to achieve that purpose are 2 different things. From what you are saying you sound like trying to secure some salaries to the core devs is a bad thing which isn't.

I suggested it is/was their most important function. What didn't turn out well is "they had one job" [securing dev salaries] and have managed to put that in jeopardy by doing everything else imaginable badly.

What is the true nature of this foundation? What are they really responsible for? Most foundations in my opinion are corrupt and the top hierarchy usually takes money from the foundation's accounts anyway for their own personal use. This is nothing new. Happens every day in my own government all over the US. And I thought that the bitcoin community votes and makes the laws, not the foundation?

It was suppose to be a foundation of a lot of the big names in bitcoin.  To help bitcoin grow.

But most people who are respected have left the group.  At one time saying our company was a member of the foundation meant something (they paid the foundation so much for some levels).  But in the end it was executed horribly in my opinion.

My Reply to the above;

Im afraid this is inaccurate again, the board is NOT working - how you assume to know that it 'is' baffles me.  (as it is not.)

as i have clearly explained at least 6 times to 5 members of your team - 'ravi, guy, katya, yourself twice & yesterday zvi'

i have swapped the NON-FUNCTIONING  SP20E board with the functioning SP20 board and the miner works  (all except the NON FUNCTIONING SP20E board)

if i have been able to successfully disassemble & re-assemble SP20's & a considerably more awkward SP30, why would you imagine i might require assistance installing this DEAD board to make it work?

If you are unwilling to replace the DEAD board, please just say so rather than implying that i am imagining the fact that the board I received DOES NOT WORK.
