QED

Got to say, the liquidity is pretty good. No arguments and fud on that front as the project moves on.

Get'em while you can.

No, things haven't started cooking yet.

Maybe it's time to make a brandnew ANN, as it seems apparent Mr Spread isn't returning?

Yes, new ANN is approaching fast, just a few more things I have to finish first.
Stay tuned.

Good news  Cool

Solo mining Spread is so easy.  Once people get it, its really hard to find anything better.
Yeah, whats the spr/Mhash/day rate?

600 Altcoins, with a combined value of $460m, $200m excluding Ripple.

600 projects! Lets say 100-200 Devs, 2,000-4,000 supporters overall.

Imagine if those projects coordinated efforts around a handful of projects. Bitcoin wouldn't have a chance.

All the scams would be significantly reduced too.

You can see people dumping alts all over the place to go and try to make a quick buck on the various altcoin mafia scams going on at the moment.  Some genuine projects getting hurt.  Its a real shame.

Greed beats technological advancement hands down I guess.

Know how much is traded daily in the traditional global financial system?  Trillions.

It boggles the mind the actions they take for just a few quid.

Nodes That Serve

I've seen several projects now all launching with 'masternodes'

Maybe what we need to do at this early point is start a Node Trust Alliance - possibly a Decentralized Node Alliance or DNA  Grin

We don't all need to be working and struggling in our little silos on the same code to run the nodes. We can work on the same code to run our networks, but build different applications for our projects and then we can all run PR through the Alliance; kick-out scam coins; promote best practice; etc.

No fees, just a code of professionalism.

DNA

Lets make it so, Nr.1

Are you suggesting a non coin bound project that is open to anyone while the final say when it comes to merging submitted changes has a non profit foundation?

The idea seems too idyllic, too utopian. Wink Common good is seldom experienced in crypto at least not as often as it used to be.

Sounds like a good plan.

Try it and see how it goes. What's to lose vs. potential upside?

Good (cross post) from sub-ether:

Great stuff in the new paper.

Yer, not only are the number of nodes decreasing overall but there is almost a 10% variance over a typical 24 hour period that will lead to a daily cycle of instabilities, and sinusoidal mapped delays.
A Masternode never sleeps, its 24/7 all the way resulting in uniform stability and speed consistantly Grin

http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-nodes-need/
''What's interesting is that during a recent 24-hour period, the number of reachable nodes went down from 8,200 to 7,600 and back to 8,200 again. This suggests that a portion of users running nodes are turning off their machines at night, meaning that this contingent of nodes are being run on desktops or laptops.''

Bitcoin nodes don't get paid, so there are future risks to the bitcoin network.  Incentives to pay bitcoin nodes are not considered realistic, but the alternative is to rely on businesses that have a stake in bitcoin's success running nodes - that's another centralisation issue, along with commercial mining.

Taking into account the possible use of ServiceNodes as [link to be included when update is provided by devs], perhaps some of the servicenodes / masternodes can create an incentive structure for bitcoin nodes.

That would benefit SPR, other potential participants of DNA and Bitcoin.

People are creating sidechains for bitcoin:

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2k1ayi/adam_back_greg_maxwell_and_pieter_wuille_will_be/

But what if ServiceNodes could create sidechains just as easily? That's where there could be incentives to run bitcoin nodes.

Explanation to follow:

"....consensus", yes.

Foundation? They hardly ever work. Just a code of ethics to not scam or your project is not recognized and therefore not taken seriously by investors.

Gentlemen's agreement was tried, but it didn't work.

The average total coins generated across the network per day stays the same.  Faster machines just get a larger share than slower machines.  If everyone bought faster machines, they wouldn't get more coins than before.

We should have a gentleman's agreement to postpone the GPU arms race as long as we can for the good of the network.  It's much easer to get new users up to speed if they don't have to worry about GPU drivers and compatibility.  It's nice how anyone with just a CPU can compete fairly equally right now.

Maybe try again and see how it goes. There is no arms race as such on a DNA.

I recall starting a thread of all the new coins launching with x11

DARKCOIN is one of the few coins with a full time developer, and a developer that is open about who he really is: Evan Duffield.

While working on Darkcoin, Evan has created a number of new innovations. These are now starting to be used by other coins, including clones of Darkcoin or existing coins that are changing to adopt Darkcoin innovations.

This is a list of the the coins that are using Darkcoin innovations.

There was an update due, but that is going to be deferred, because there is an update due  Grin

Update?

He's just pulling my leg, don't read too much into it... lol

Well, sort of.

I was going to do a general progress update, but instead I'm waiting for the devs to provide the update.
