I don't remember who, but someone mentioned awhile back about calling ourselves SPR and leaving it at that, or S.P.R. Perhaps it could stand for something. Anyone want to help creed out?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFYwueh05mM

The name should be changed to just SPR.

Uff, atleast that's an improvement over last time (about a month ago) when you suggested we change our name to MEH!
(that was so hilarious I'll remember my LOL for a long time)

 Grin

No seriously. SPR.

Like:

IBM
NBA
NSA
FBI
CIA
ITV

Brand names with short letters don't raise questions about their meaning. It becomes just a utility, a noun that can also become a verb.

I bought some Spread today to buy some pot online doesn't quite fit.

Now, who was that?

 Grin

I like the idea of SPR. It can still stand for spreadcoin, but it's one of those things we rarely mention.

spreadcoin.net seems to be down, at least for me.

For me too.

Looks like Mr. Spread is gone for good.

Also, the domain will expire on 21 july 2015.
Should it be renewed we will know that Mr.Spread is still out there (and still cares, lol)
Should it not, we should try and register the domain once it is available.

Not to throw a wrench in the subject but since we are looking at picking up the pieces and starting from scratch maybe we should consider a name change to?  So we don't have to deal with the fact of the Dev leaving and the trollsters fud.  Maybe a rebirth of the coin with a new look, new name, and new devs?  Just wondering?

That's the thing, we are not really picking up the pieces, since nothing is broken yet.
We also don't want to start from scratch since spreadcoin has many qualities that we like and want to continue.

We all LOVE the name spreadcoin and its ideas, and all the memes that surround this name.

We also already have a blockchain that we are invested in, and a community, and a forum, etc...

We are not looking to start something new, but to continue what we already have.

I think that pokeytex has a point though. Spreadcoin was what Mr. Spread built. We need something that differentiates ourselves from that. We are Spreadcoin 2.0.  Something that lets the community know we are a growing, thriving community.  Not a dead coin trying to tread water.
I agree. If we're going to make a new coin, we should change the name. Spreadcoin sounds good after a while but it sounds stupid when you first hear it.

That's a good idea, we could consider taking it out of the development budget.

Is it possible to let masternodes act as an escrow service?  Maybe that's already been suggested, or they can already do that.  I don't even known if that's technically feasible, maybe someone smart can figure that out.

Can Master Nodes be used to validate and execute payments using an email address?

Like>

Allocate funds from your wallet to a float.

Link an email address to your wallet and also 2FA and or a password

When making a payment on a website, the email address and password / 2FA can instruct Master Nodes to validate the payment from the float which link back to your private keys.

Or something like that.

So has the community just written off Mr. Spread then? Like no one has a single clue where he went?

No.

I think we need to vote on the best please come back tune:

All I can remember is dancing to this tune at the Notting Hill Carnival a few years back with a lovely lady from Brixton:

No option but to do exactly that if the community wants to move on.

Exactly, we can hope for the best (that Mr. Spread returns) but we must prepare for the worst.

Looking at spreadcointalk and it appears SPR really could be one of tge select few coins that a community takeover may prevail. Fingers crossed.

Thank you. Yes, If only I had more time, I would put 100% of my time into this.

But stay tuned, we are getting closer and closer.

One step at a time.

There is already a return bounty for him (around SPR 60K+ if I understand it correctly) in case he returns so I don't think anybody has written him off, it's just that he didn't continue the testing phase (it was almost completed) and has left no messages for the SPR community as to what happened to him or why he stopped the development...

Like no one has a single clue where he went?

I went through his posts, picking out mentions of the specific changes he'd made and other references to his technical intentions. At one point he writes “I have to go to work” which implies he has an employer. It's possible that this employer became aware of the Spreadcoin development activity and they gave him a choice, walk away from it or else. By far and away, he's not the first dev to go AWOL and at least he seems to have genuinely gone completely, there are other altcoins where the sole dev has simply lost interest and switched allegiance to a different coin.

Cheers
