I am the one who knocks
Guys, let me describe how my sales are structured and maybe it will clear things up.  First - I have three sales channels, not all of which are run through the online store:

Retail: online eCommerce - megabigpower.com, affiliates and partner sites (pool ops for example)
Wholesale: private mines, large hosted placements, investor/customers & various flavors of mining bond/share based mining
OEM: bulk chip sales for manufacture

The Retail channel was opened up first to give the best opportunity to the community.  The starter kits were also discounted for this reason.  The Wholesale channel was opened up for October delivery and has a minimum $250k commitment with a demonstrated potential for larger purchases and re-buys.  OEM is chips by the reel or participatory investment in chip orders, i.e. Metabank.

Lab_Rat controls a potential hardware buy of up to $1m with rebuys.  These guys don't operate through a website to make these kinds of purchases.  Usually there's negotiation, pro-forma sales terms, proof (usually in person), deposits, delivery, final payment.

Lab_Rat isn't even in the Retail queue - he's in the Wholesale side, though he mis-characterized that in his comments.  I have a completely different Test & Ship Team for Retail & Wholesale channels.  For now, bulk chips are sold as drop ship from Europe, but that may change too.

Understand that if you are in this half of the world and you want to buy BitFury, you have to buy it from me at the moment.  There is a lot of money coming into Bitcoin mining and each type of customer requires a different structure.
I would also like to state to all those who have sour grapes:  This kind of structuring is very very common in the 'real world'.  Take a look at WalMart as a good example.

Big News About BitFury Coming Soon!
.....
As a feature of security, BitFury has agreed to "lock-in" my place in line without delivering funds until a working prototype is presented. This is to ensure that no funds are allocated irresponsibly.

I assume now that tytus has presented a 400 GH hand assembled prototype model running, it is pay up or ... It sounds like the deal may have been with bitfury and not dave.

If anyone had been there... They'd know that was taken out of context.  I was referring to the Oct delivery date and I'm not "cutting in line."  I just have my spot reserved from the time I contacted Dave.

Hi Labrat. Can you please tell us on what date you struck the deal with Dave ? As all readers of this thread are aware. Paying with credit card is not easy/possible at the moment and I would like to know where my order stands in the queue.

Thanks

Addendum: found it on your blog

Dave,

Can all your previous paid in full customers form a co-op or group buy and you host it for us? We will order now and pay you later. You know like your deal with LabRat. I dont know how much we want yet because we haven't even talked amongst ourselves yet. I know I am being an ass here but this dont look right Milo...

Let's let Dave respond (if he wishes) before stringing him up in the town square.

See, I was right about being quoted, LOL. I agree with you Swimmer63.

You know I must apologize for this. To some extent Dave did post in this thread trying to see if there was any interest in us buying equipment from him at a lower rate and letting the gear partially pay for itself while he hosted it. I would just delete the post but fear someone may be quoting it now and then I will be accused of trying to hide something. So, nope. Not hiding. Just the post and me saying I'm sorry to Dave cause I posted like an ass. And you know, I actually like Dave!

Well, it seems a bit like cutting in line. Like making a preorder and not having to pay for it but keeping your place secured for an unlimited amount of Hashrate. On another note, I read that labrat would be using Dave's personal equipment, so that really does not affect any orders.  LabRat, I am not accusing you of anything unscrupulous here, but at the time you toured the BFL facility, from your observation of how good everything looked you agreed with Josh's statements about BFL being able to meet their claim of backlog clearing by Aug or Sept.

I know you don't work for BFL and you don't control jack over there, but it seemed strangely coincidental that shortly after your visit to BFL, you announced your endeavor selling bonds of labrat mining. At that point, Shipping from BFL Slowed to a crawl and you somehow ended up with over 10TH/s of gear.  You don't owe me any explanation about where your gear came from nor can I prove you didn't order the first BFL order and it was for 10TH/s. Or maybe you had a bunch of Avalon. Fact is I don't know. But it is a bit disturbing to start reading about this over here now.

Is Josh or an entity he controls hosting your gear?  It doesn't look quite right and I hope you don't take too much offense of my reasoning and question. But if You and BFL made a sweetheart deal and pushed all those cads with orders way back because of it, it would be just completely wrong.

I hope everything I put in this post is inaccurate and all is above board. If you came by your 10TH/s and growing honestly, I applaud you and wish you the best. I feel I may be paranoid and senile because of the debacle at BFL so the weird conspiracy theory comes out. If I am way off base about any part of my hypothesis, please accept my sincere apology at this moment, it is yours for the taking.

I hope you realize this would be highly unfair to the other customers. "Unscrupulous" would be another word.

Given his prior shilling for America's Favorite Bitcoin ASIC Company, he's learned about being unscrupulous from some of the leaders in the industry !

[04:43 PM]   Lab_Rat : None yet... I have my place locked in line and when they're almost ready to ship I'll buy what we can afford...
[04:44 PM]   Lab_Rat : I can buy as many as I want and be shipped first

I don't pretend to know what the context of this was, but are you saying you have your (unpaid) October spot reserved for an unlimited # of orders depending on how much you feel like spending that day? If true, I hope you realize this would be highly unfair to the other customers. "Unscrupulous" would be another word.

Perhaps you can clarify this situation with a less ambiguous post than your last.

BTW what was your previous account here that you wish to disassociate yourself from?

I would really appreciate being whitelisted.  It's in place to prevent bots, spammers, and scammers.  I'm none of the above and have a previous account that I no longer wish to be associated with.  Going through this process a second time is not enjoyable.

Actually, he did acknowledge Yes, to the question of Oct. Go back and look in the archive.

I saw that but in the first sections he's referring to **August** bitfury equipment. Hence, he should at least add transparency in the worst case scenario.

In any case, what's that crap about "locking-in" an unlimited/unpaid order??

"Out of context" sounds like BS to me since October isn't "first" but August. Here's more about these "Lab Rat" operations:

http://www.labratmining.com

Dude, you are no longer dealing with corrupt organizations like ButterFly Labs. Please refrain from shady moves. Your cutting in line necessarily must be leaving good faith customers out of it.

Anyhow, you must to go to the end of line just like anyone else rather than hoarding equipment we aren't getting earlier because of you.

Lab_Rat mining is also an incorporated business which pays taxes on their mining profits to the US Government. They are centralizing bitcoin mining and allowing Uncle Sam to get a piece of the action. Their venture only hurts bitcoin by perpetuating the fiat system, they don't care about the philosophy or ecosystem of the bitcoin market, only about enriching themselves at it's expense.

Agreed, no other way to interpret that agreement. Not much we can do about it though, so good for you to make a better deal than we did.
Did you even try?

I hope this isn't true, as I paid quite a bit and would hate to see someone cut in line no matter how many units one buys. It wouldn't be right as my funds and others are tied up and for someone to be able to use their funds for whatever and then say the day of release they decide to finally pay....buzzdave seems pretty level headed and fair from my conversations with him.

Preferred treatment for bulk orders I could understand, but preferred treatment without sending funds? Say it ain't so Dave.

Probably just the kind of squabble a feller recovering from the flu was hoping for too. Cheesy
