Sad, this coin just keeps dropping while every other altcoin is being pumped to the moon as we speak. Whats going on?

What do you think about storing your keys in a password manager like lastpass with 2FA?

You could temporarily install a wallet like vialectrum, create the wallet using your private key, send the coins, receive coins, then close down the program, delete it, delete the wallet.dat (possibly permamently erase it, if you know what I mean), and go about your merry way.
Yes, this will work. But what you want to do totally defeats the purpose of a paper wallet, which is to store keys that have never been on a connected PC. You should create your paper wallet on an air gapped Live CD distribution so you are 100% sure the keys have no way to see the light of day on line.
Obviously a paper wallet is a better solution. But he seemed to be asking of a simple way (for someone used to the windows environment) to create a wallet. He didn't seem to be asking about the most secure way.
Yea, I'm not saying what you said was wrong... but he's probably just as secure creating a viaelectrum portable on a thumb drive, use a strong password and store the seed somewhere off line and secure incase he loses the thumbdrive (wallet.dat).

That's were I store all my seeds and passwords. I'm less paranoid than some though.
The nice thing about this is you can create one strong password, I use a 7 word diceware password as my master lastpass password.

I would recommend vialectrum. Use the portable version. Install it on a flash drive. Create a new wallet. Write down the private key (or seed in that case) and address. then use it to store the coin for years to come.What are the hard wallet options to store VIA coins?

I wish I would have gotten a straightforward answer from someone... What differentiates viacoin from other altcoins?
Isn't it just trying to solve the same problem as Bitcoin? Why would it ever garner the support bitcoin has then?

1. It has an active, highly-skilled developer constantly working on it, providing code updates and user help
2. It's not trying to take over bitcoin - it's an altcoin, but it's also 10x faster at sending coins and getting confirmations, plus smaller fees
3. I invested in it because of the above, and because I believe it's undervalued. Also, I have patience.
A followup:
If it's not trying to take over, what do you see its actual value in a future economy, where there are other coins doing the same thing? Some even more private, like monero?

I am also happy with my choice. Looks really promising even though there is a ton of cryptos in existence by now. Dedicated dev is definitely key.
Yeah, the developer is doing his job very well, the rest is up to us. There are a few simple things we can do as a community to boost the profile of this coin:
1. Post in this thread. Seriously, if you open this thread, and see new discussion, post a reply. Don't hesitate. I'm not saying you should post gibberish just to bump the thread. Contribute to the discussion and create a more active community. Don't let the thread stagnate when joining the discussion is such an easy thing to do.
2. Post on the subreddit. Same reasons as above. The subreddit is pretty much dead at the moment, which really isn't a good look.
3. Follow Viacoin on twitter.
We can't expect non-investors to get enthusiastic about VIA if they've never heard about it. In the long run, it would also be great to get a Viacoin community message board set up, like the one NEM has, but I'm not sure what that would entail.
