For those who do not know Hirocoin uses the X11 hashing algorithm which is soon going to be the new home of GPU miners. It is thoroughly coded and secure. We will take on the best features available and here début our first unique feature coded by the excellent
Claire DuSoleil.
This new feature is a simple and easy to use feature that will allow you to import private keys from a QR code of your private key in Windows. You may have made a paper wallet for yourself or received a promotional paper wallet from a convention. To generate a QR code you can use an online service for this. For the QR code used in this demo I used the one linked in below. You should only use an offline QR generator for a paper wallet though, to ensure maximum security.
https://www.the-qrcode-generator.com/You can import from an image on your computer or it is possible to scan from we webcam by pointing the webcam at the paper wallet and using the feature in Hirocoin to capture the image from the webcam feed. If you want to test out this import feature you can do so with this QR code below. Please do not use this address though as everyone has access to it.

To start with open your Hirocoin wallet and then go to the Receive tab. At the bottom you can see a Import QR code button as highlighted in the screenshot below.
Click the Import QR code button to open up the Snap tool then move it over the QR code and press the snap button. The client will become unresponsive for a little bit, this is completely normal behaviour for importing private keys, as the client must scan the entire blockchain for the newly added address.
When the client comes back it may not show the address immediately. To confirm that the address is present you can run the following from the debug console.
getaccountaddress ""
In the response the imported address should be shown. That you how you use this new feature. We are always open to suggestions for other things that you would like to see in the client. If you have any killer ideas then please let us know.
Please note that Windows is the only client provided by us that has this feature build in. If you want to build your own Hirocoin wallet with this feature please use the dev-0.8-pkimport branch of Hirocoin on GitHub. There should be no major issues building this on Linux but maintaining a PPA with this new feature is tricky. We have come across some issues with building on Mac that are unexpected and are working to resolve them.
