Question: Why does the client use IRC to gather IP addresses of other users? There's bound to be a better, non-centralized way to gather this sort of information. This just looks a bit too much like a botnet than I'm comfortable with. If this could be explained, I'd be happier about using my resources towards this coin.

there is a novacoin version of p2pool so I guess there is a way to make it work with p2pool but I have no idea how...
I have that, let me look into it.
I may be able to work something out.

Just wanted to say THANK YOU for an alternative to BTC mining as I'm tired of all the inefficient & power hungry script coins out there and was looking for a new sha256 coin!
Also, all you haters go back to the hole you crawled out of!!! It is very hard to start a new alt coin these days with all the script clones coming out every other week and I completely understand why the author pre-minted some for bounties TO PROMOTE the coin.
I'm looking forward to seeing this coin grow as we do need new alt sha256 coins that would enhance the all mighty bitcoin and maybe even some day replace it
