yep that address is known to be brute forcing passwords ...

create a simple 4 digit password and send 1 burst to it, it will be gone to BURST-W945-7PTT-T4FD-732VF in a matter of days

Was he using symbols as well as alphanumerics in his password?

-[ANNOUNCEMENT]-

It appears as though my friend and partner, irontiga, has had his BURST wallet compromised. He has been away for a bit and hasn't had too much contact, so I haven't had a chance to find out how it happened exactly, but this account BURST-W945-7PTT-T4FD-732VF is who now has all of tiga's BURST, and his assets.

here is the txid https://block.burstcoin.info/tx.php?tx=3888272425188818324

Effective Immediately, all ByteEnt and ByteBank asset payouts are paused while we figure out this issue. The reason I am doing this, is because tiga was obviously a large holder in the company, and I refuse to pay out to someone who isn't him. I will pay every legitimate holder, but let us figure this out and find out what is really going on here.

we must figure out how this happened, if this is a lesson in security, let us know now, this is not a funny joke if it is a joke, and I'm very upset if you're a thief, as you've mined on my pool for a long time. I see your account, I see you.

This is upsetting.

Could be a shot in the dark but...

On 4/19 1,592 wallets were created. http://burstcoin.eu/charts/new-wallets-per-day    Average is about 25-30/day

I thought it was odd that so many wallets were created on one day, feels like some brute-forcing of some kind

When will a block pays like 3-4K?
here's the block reward chart: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.10407591

Great, thanks Smiley

Can anyone make this pic "shorter"? Less space between the numbers in the right column? Should be doable even in Paint Wink

I give 10K to the one who present the best (or fastest) pic!

[originalpic]

EDIT: Ok, 15K up for grabs if you make the table in a size we can publish (and read Wink Smiley

If no one's claimed it yet, I'll help with that.  Hope it's not too close together.  Still seems to be legible, at least to me, heh:

Address is BURST-BED9-BF2L-AUF8-EJR46

Might have been quicker to make a copy of the code and CSS from that page, edit the code to make them closer together, then take a new screenshot.  But since I'm not sure where the image comes from, I did it the slow way.   Grin

Thanks DooMAD, a true Hero - 15K coming your way shortly (my own money) Smiley Hope it wasnt too much work.

Cleaner verson of the table - estimated dates + rounding functions .... ;-)

Mining and holding. Will not sell in next year or two.
Heading to 6 mil...

Please advice strategy to "cold storage" these coins, since I know that there is no real "cold storage" for burst.

A good method would be to just break the stash up into multiple addresses, each one created with a unique very complex random string, 64-100 characters.  Put those passwords on a thumb-drive or two, print them out and put the paper someplace safe, etc, etc...

Your going to hear complaints about copy/pasting but as long as your computer is clean I would rather copy/paste a very strong key, over risking my "type-able" key being cracked, or me miss-typing it.  Using common-sense and copy/pasting will be fine.

Maybe someone else has some more detailed info.

Good-Luck

I have mine passwords (+100 char) in .txt files in TC containers. The identical containers are placed on different psychical locations/hardware and not updated, as I have many unused passwords in the .txt files for future use. The container encryption password is, today, something I remember, but would I forget it there is two ways to retrieve it.

It was... rather time consuming to create, and is far from fool-proof - as dear Dev can testify as he had to spend quite some time to "crack" an account with 400K on.  Embarrassed That password was 133 char.
